pantherpounce
"the shining spoon to me is someone else's story."
t3 warrior | windclan | he/him
Pantherpounce breathed in the crisp air as he padded behind his patrol. The increasingly warm weather was a welcomed change from the cold of leaf-bare that had seemed to drag on for longer than it needed to. Hunting during newleaf was sure to bring them more success than the previous season could ever provide them with. The scent of a bird reached the tom's nose and caused him to slightly veer away from the rest of the patrol to focus on his newfound target. There was another creature nearby, though, who decided that it would chase after Pantherpounce in the middle of his concentrated state. When the scent of the bird in front of him twisted into something more sinister, the warrior whirled around to come face to face with the long, ugly weasel. Annoyance flooded his veins. These hideous things were just nuisances waiting to be taken out. He darted forward with his claws unsheathed and watched as the weasel reared up to attack, exposing its underbelly. Pantherpounce took this as an opportunity to lunge at it and scratch its most vulnerable spot. The weasel, however, was far too quick. It moved its wiry body out of harms way before Pantherpounce's claws could connect with fur.
pantherpounce failed to use "belly rake" on weasel, dealing -5 damage and costing 25 stamina.
pantherpounce hp - 45/50 sp - 95/120
weasel hp - 20/20 sp - 135/135

OATFLUFFare you going to age with grace? he/him - t2 windclan warrior
Oatfluff was taking up the rear, tasting the air for any familiar scents when one very wrong one reached him. His nose wrinkled - this didn't smell like any of the Clans. A rogue, perhaps? But it smelled distinctly of the moor - his train of thought was interrupted by an angry screech, and the large warrior whipped his head in the direction of the noise to spot a familiar tom, accompanied by...oh. A weasel. That explained the scent. Surely the muscular warrior would have this handled, but as Oatfluff watched in shock, his patrol mate missed his attack and the long, furry creature scored its claws against the dark tom's cheek.
"Pantherpounce!" Oatfluff shouted, sprinting to come to his aid. He shot a glance over at his Clanmate - was Pantherpounce okay? But the tom was right back on the attack, and rage pulsed beneath Oatfluff's pelt as he turned back to the wiry beast. He'd make it pay for messing with his Clanmate.
In one swift move, the mottled brown tom turned to shield Pantherpounce and lash out at the weasel - but the weasel was faster. It hissed and snapped its head to latch on to his leg, quick to sink its jaws into his forepaw. White hot pain seared through him, but adrenaline moved him despite his hiss of pain. He moved his other leg, reaching out with a strong, unsheathed paw to slam down on the creature, and Oatfluff gritted his teeth as he dragged his claws down its back. Moved by fury and, having finally found his footing, Oatfluff lashed out again with his free paw to claw wildly at the slender predator. Blood soaked his dark brown paws as his blow landed. Short tufts of sandy brown fur came free under his claws. But satisfaction overrode any pain as the weasel's jaws dislodged from his leg and turned, deciding it was outnumbered and fleeing from the moor cats as quick as it had arrived.
"Stupid weasel." Oatfluff panted. He looked down, alarmed at the sight of his own blood, and began to lap at his paw. It wasn't bleeding too bad - surely he'd be fine. Hemlockfox might get after him about infection, but he was sure it wasn't anything to rush home about. He turned to Pantherpounce, chestnut gaze wide with concern. "Are you okay?"
Weasel used Gripping Bite, dealing 7 damage and costing 15 SP!
Oatfluff used Front Paw Strike, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 SP! Oatfluff used Swift Strike, dealing 5 damage and costing 10 SP!
A nice day to go on a hunt--but when wasn't it? Still, Larchpaw couldn't help but be glad for the onset of newleaf. He'd been getting bored of endless snow and frigid winds. He welcomed the warmth of the sun gleaming down onto his pelt, making the bright orange patches shine. If he weren't busy scouting out ahead to find rabbits, he'd glance back at Oatfluff to see what the tom thought of how nice he looked in the sunlight. But that wasn't of much consequence. Stars... why wasn't he a warrior yet? He couldn't flirt with a warrior when he was still stuck as an apprentice That just felt wrong. He pouted a little bit--but the scent of rabbit nearby stopped him. There, a flash of brown fur just over the next hill. Instinctually he lowered into a hunting position, keeping all of himself but the very tips of his brightly colored ears below the tall grasses. Stalk forwards just a little bit closer... then break out into a sprint. If he was lucky, it wouldn't know what hit it, and he'd be able to impress Oatfluff and Pantherpounce with his immaculate catch, apprentice or no.
The catch was easy. Larchpaw bore down on the rabbit with characteristic swiftness. It didn't even have a chance to run--by the time he was on top of it, claws in its neck, it was already far too late. He realized with a wide grin that the rabbit was bigger than he'd originally thought from further away. What had it been eating during leaf-bare to get so far? Well, no matter. It was impressive either way. He picked it up in his mouth and trotted back to the rest of the patrol--only to see Oatfluff fawning over a wounded Pantherpounce. What had happened? Concern smothered the brief twinge of jealousy. "I was only gone for a moment," he said, dropping the rabbit he'd caught. "What attacked you? Is it still around?" Had it hurt Oatfluff, too?
Larchpaw attempts to catch a rabbit... Success! -3 SP
Tigerstar was observing how Larchpaw hunted. The leader had decided to attend a patrol along with his warriors to see how they all faired while hunting, but also to try and be more present for his warriors as well. Well it seemed he failed slightly, in his mind anyway. While he was focused on the apprentice, it seemed a predator came and went. "Is everyone alright?" He asked the warriors, knowing they had dealt with the threat.
