SkyClan Patrols and Duties

Hello SkyClan!

As she picks up the torch from her predecessors, Honeydew will be organizing monthly patrols that you can sign up your characters to participate in! These patrols and duties are not mandatory, and there will be no consequences for not joining them. They can help provide SkyClanners ranking requirements and help build in-character relationships through interactions with your clanmates.

Several different patrols and systems were created to aid in Skyclan's defense and maintenance of their territory, and under Wolfstar and Honeydew's leadership, these patrols will continue to be incorporated into this rolling signup thread. Assignments will be done OOC with the assumption that Wolfstar and Honeydew are supervising them, and the threads will be created and posted in this topic for each patrol's assigned members to join.

In addition to the typical hunting and border patrols (which will not have signups to keep this streamlined), Skyclan has the following duties specific to their camp and territory. Unless otherwise stated, all patrols undertaken through these signups will be limited to 4 cats to keep things running smoothly.

• Hunting Patrols - The clan is growing, and there's always a need for fresh kill.
  
• Border Patrol - Marking and patrolling the boundaries not only keep out nosy neighbours but also hostile rouges.
  
• Sky Patrol - Consists of warriors that have proven to be the most adept at navigating the trees. They will be the eyes of SkyClan: where a patrol on the ground may not notice an active threat until they're close enough to be scented or heard, cats assigned to sky patrol will have the advantage of sight. Concerning activity is to be reported to Wolfstar or Honeydew immediately or, if necessary and the warriors present are capable, dispatched. If the need arises, warriors may be tasked with infiltrating another Clan's territory through the trees.
  
• Predator Hunts-  Honeydew will organize these patrols consisting of up to 4 warriors and apprentices to track and make sure that threats noticed within Skyclan's territory are no longer within Skyclan's borders, and if they are, taken care of swiftly.
  
• Mock Battle - Even when there are no conflicts with other Clans, the threat of going to war or being ambushed by cats and predators alike always remain prominent, and each warrior must prepare for that day and train to the best of their ability.
  
• Night Guard (Camp) - Warriors will take turns staying awake in pairs to oversee camp while the rest of the Clan sleeps.
  
• Limb Patrol - Those comfortable in the trees will assist with investigating every tree possible (not necessarily in a single day) and removing any branches that are deemed unfit for basic exercise. Unless they cannot be practically carried, branches will be returned to camp to be reused in various structural improvements to the dens, camp wall and defenses.
  
• Herb Gathering Patrols - Medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices will organize herb gathering patrols to  replenish their supplies. They will guide their clanmates through the territory and teach them how to find the best herbs.
  

General Tasks - Clan Engagement wrote:

• Nursery Duty - Warriors and apprentices alike are expected to feed and care for the queens and their kits. Bring the queens fresh bedding, watch over the kits, play games and even engage in kit-friendly training sessions with newly-created kits and join open threads created by them.
  
• Elder Duty - Apprentices should feed the elders and help change their nests as needed. If anyone has gotten into particular trouble recently, they can help pick ticks off of the elders too.
  
• Early Warning System - Apprentices and warriors will assist in restoring and maintaining Skyclan's early warning system. Branches recovered from limb patrols or found scattered around the territory will be methodically laid out surrounding SkyClan's camp. When pressed, the branches will snap and alert all in camp to a possible threat. Only SkyClan cats or those that are escorted can navigate the barrier soundly.
  

• Signup Window:
  Signups will now be staying open throughout the entire month! On the 10th at 8:00pm EST signups will close for the month, meaning any signups posted after that date will apply to next month's patrols. Patrols and duties threads will be posted by the 15th of each month.
  
• How many patrols and duties can I sign up my character for?
  You can sign up for as many or as few of these as you would like, though try to avoid overwhelming yourself with too many topics at once, and consider a limitation of no more than 4 per character at a given time.
  
• Patrol Members:
  Most patrols will have a maximum of 4 members assigned, excluding mock battles (8) and night guard (2), and no more than half of them may be apprentices.
  
• Patrol Leaders:
  Patrol leaders will be chosen strategically according to their individual skills and activity levels. Cats who have never led a patrol before will be given ample opportunities to lead, if they wish. Feel free to request this in the form below if you're interested!
  
• Topic Creation:
  The threads will be made by the deputy (or medicine cat, if herb gathering), who will organize each patrol and post the month's assignments and their members on both the main post and in a reply. These posts will be made by the 15th of each month. Each player is responsible to check up on this thread by the 15th to find their assignments.
  
• Topic Duration:
  While there is no hard time limit for completing threads, ideally they should be completed, or mostly completed, before the next month's round of assignments are posted.
  
• Posting Order:
  The posting order has been lifted for Patrols and Duties, to avoid threads dying if one person isn't posting. This should keep threads moving along fairly quickly, giving everyone a chance to react to things before the threads time out. Mock Battles still have an enforced posting order, for fairness. • Predator Hunts:
  For many generations, Skyclan has actively hunted predators within their territory. Since SkyClan's arrival back to the forest territories, this tradition is being re-introduced. Wolfstar and Honeydew seek to neutralize these threats in the name of making Skyclan's territory safer for the clan. What the sky patrols cannot handle on their own is reported to SkyClan's high ranks, and patrols are organized to take out these threats - whatever they may be. Predator pelts or feathers will be used as nesting material, and those cats who perform well will be acknowledged by their clanmates. These threads will use the battle system, and are a good way of gaining multiple ranking requirements for your characters.
  - Predators will be chosen based on the ranks of those on the battle patrol.
  - Medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices are allowed to participate, but do not count towards the 4 member limit. They are discouraged to fight unless absolutely necessary, however, and are expected to assist their clanmates first and foremost.
  - Instead of a battle timer for Predator Hunts, if a hunt is not finished before the next round of patrols are posted, the predator escapes. [04/15/24]
  
• Mock Battles:
  - Be mindful of one another and post in the correct posting order!
  - Mocks Battles are treated as "official battles"!
  - You have 48 hours to post in the topic before the battle begins.
  - 36 hours after the battle begins to make your first move.
  - 36 hours to reply after your opponent has posted.

A great-big thank you to everyone who signed up for the first Patrols and Duties as Honeydew's first time as deputy!! This is very exciting and I am having so much fun setting these up for everyone. I really hope you all enjoy them, and if you have any suggestions or feedback on how I can improve these in any way, please feel free to reach out and let me know your thoughts!
