Welcome to SkyClan Patrols and Duties: Night Guard! Due to adjusted rules, warriors will take turns staying awake in groups of three to oversee camp while the rest of the Clan sleeps.
RULES During your first post, roll one Effect Dice to determine if your guard duty is interrupted by something! 1-3: The night will pass by peacefully. 4-5: Someone is caught trying to sneak out of camp. 6: The night is interrupted by a strong stench and snuffling sounds outside camp walls...
Participants: Mallowcloud, Brackendawn, Yewshade Honeydew wished her brave warriors each goodnight before heading off towards the warrior's den. "Thank you all for offering to do this," she mewed earnestly. "I'll be sure you all get the first pick of fresh-kill tomorrow, after you've slept. Have a safe night... and don't hesitate to call for us, if you need us." Before her stood three of the most important cats in her life. Each of them was invaluable to her, in a different way. Her heart ached knowing that they would be missing sleep and watching for danger tonight. As she turned away, she gave one last look over her shoulder before the shadows of the warrior's den swallowed her form, leaving the three toms along in the clearing as the moon climbed the sky.
Brackendawn loved his sister, but that didn't mean he was happy with the company she'd picked for the guard tonight. Honestly he could handle it on his own, but of course he had to set a shining example. Blue eyes drifted between both tom's, a heavy sigh falling from his lips. Tonight would be along night, Mallowcloud much to chipper and Yewshade who he got the feeling wanted to tear his throat out. The brindled warrior curled his tail over his paws, he wasn't one for confrontation, but he'd certainly like to see him try. Maybe then Honeydew would see that she deserved better than the puny, bedraggled, impotent, flea-ridden, son-of-a-crone... Brackendawn inhaled heavily through his nose. Honeydew deserved the world, and neither of her boyfriends would bring her it. Mallowcloud for all the reasons opposite to the tabby warrior. For starters he was far too soft and dull. It was funny to thing the lilac tom had worried what he had felt about him upon returning, when... No one liked making nests for batty elders that much. It was unnerving.
Despite the Newleaf warmth, there was still a chill to the air at night and as the silence drew on longer, Brackendawn found he needed a break from debating clawing his own ears off. "I'll be back." he meowed, standing. Silently he whisked away towards the warriors den. The others were asleep and so he weaved round their nests on pawtip until he came to his nest. The badger pelt he'd come for lined it, and with a quiet purr, he wrapped it round himself. He glanced back eyes landing on the two she-cats whose nests were beside his, and then the two vacant nests that belonged to the toms just beyond the den entrance. It had been nice of Honeydew to want his nest near hers and her friend's, but he didn't fit in. When dawn broke he'd tell her he was moving his nest. Probably somewhere near Harespring or Shatteredsky, he hadn't really decide yet... It just needed to be away from his sister's weirdo boyfriends.
Brackendawn returned to the guard to find it unchanged, aside from the fact he was now warm and content. If only Yewshade and Mallowcloud were as strong as him, maybe then they'd have a nice warm fleecy badger pelt to keep them warm. He grinned smugly, pleased with the thought. And if they asked he'd decline to share. Well, he might share with Mallowcloud, but Yewshade could go kill his own badger.
MALLOWCLOUD ! "Okay..." Was all that Mallowcloud said when Brackendawn announced his brief departure from the guard. He assumed that the tabby tom was off to make dirt for a quick moment, or grab a bite to eat. Whatever it was, wasn't his business and he trusted Brackendawn to return quickly. There was a bigger issue at hand, sitting not far from him.
It was Yewshade. His best buddy, his best friend, his closest confidant. He was supposed to be, anyway, but lately all Mallowcloud got from him were looks of hatred, talks of being weak, and a broken heart. He loved Yewshade so much, why was everything falling apart between them? The scar on his nose stung every time he thought of Yewshade these days. This cat was once like his brother and now they felt like complete strangers.
Sometimes he wondered what the cat beside him was capable of. He was... Afraid. Here they were, protecting the camp and looking out for danger, but it could very well be in the heart of the Clan. Surely that was just his anxiety speaking though, right? Yewshade was likely just going through something that Mallowcloud didn't know about - something that made him different, something that turned him violent. "Hey, um..."
Mallowcloud trailed off as Brackendawn approached. He smells."Brackendawn... What... What?" He let out a short laugh, confused by what he was seeing. Was that a... You know what, it's fine. He had no idea what that cat went through when they'd been separated from the Clan. "Nevermind. Yewshade, can we talk? Something's been bothering me lately and I'm... I'm getting worried about you. You don't seem like yourself."
Things are peaceful for Mallowcloud.
