Welcome to SkyClan Patrols and Duties: Predator Hunt! For many generations, Skyclan has actively hunted predators within their territory. Since SkyClan's arrival back to the forest territories, this tradition is being re-introduced. Wolfstar and Honeydew seek to neutralize these threats in the name of making Skyclan's territory safer for the clan. Last moon's Sky Patrol witnessed a badger in the eastern part of SkyClan's forest. Investigate to make sure that the threat noticed within Skyclan's territory is no longer within Skyclan's borders, and if they are, dispatch them swiftly.
RULES: At the beginning of the topic, during your first post, roll one Hunting Dice to investigate with your character. Your character will use their senses to determine whether or not they can detect signs of the predator still in the area. After each participant writes out an investigation post and rolls, the predator will make its appearance and the battle can begin! 1-3: Fails to detect signs of the predator. 4-6: Detects minor to moderate signs, such as a faint scent, territorial scratch marks, etc. 7-8: Detects strong signs, such as droppings, tufts of fur, etc. 9-10: Discovers the predator's wearabouts - get ready for an encounter!
Timer: The timer for battle posts has been lifted for April! For ALL rules, be sure to read the SkyClan Patrols and Duties post in its entirety!
Patrol Leader: Brackendawn Participants: Harespring, Honeydew, Yewshade, Shatteredsky Predator: Midnee Honeydew had assembled the patrol of strong warriors needed to find and destroy the badger that was lurking in the eastern part of their territory. The patrol from last moon had located it, but Honeydew had opted to plan a stronger unit to attack the beast, so no cat would get too seriously hurt. Badgers were powerful creatures, and Brackendawn knew that all too well.
The deputy watched as Brackendawn approached, fully prepared for the hunt by wearing his very own badger pelt. Despite the danger, Honeydew couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. It was so ironic, and that poor beast wouldn't know what's coming.
"Clever thinking," she mentioned to him as the rest of their patrolmates began to arrive - including their brothers Harespring, Shatteredsky and Honeydew's friend Yewshade. As the two toms approached, Honeydew felt her pelt flush with warmth and she glanced away shyly. "Alright Brackendawn, lead the way!" she offered, "and tell us everything you know about fighting badgers along the way."
"He'll never see us coming." agreed Brackendawn, puffing his chest out. He was pretty excited to be leading the patrol, and that Honeydew had thought him capable. Personally he would have chosen some of the members of the patrol differently, but he couldn't always win. The badger pelt he wore was quite large, and so to avoid it dragging and being much too cumbersome, the brindled tom held himself higher. He also felt it was more intimidating.
Following the path they travelled previously, Brackendawn led them to where the badger had last been sighted, rattling off information as he did. He was sure Honeydew would be listening Harespring too, but he doubted there was any room for the knowledge he was imparting in Yewshade's already massive head. Shatteredsky… Well, he glanced back at his brother, a sorrowful look passing over his features. His tail lashed, unsure of what to make of what had happened and was hesitant to pick a side. No one seemed to understand his brother, and he understood why… The tom was difficult to say the least, but Brackendawn knew Shatterdsky -his brother’s heart was in the right place! He just needed time and patience. He’d always look out for his brother. He blinked slowly, hopefully he was listening, what little knowledge the brindled tom had could help him.
"Badger's are heavy hitters, with quick tempers, but they're slow and stupid. If we stay out of the way of its attacks a patrol full of warriors will have no trouble." his voice dropped to a whisper "This is where we saw it stomping around last, let's split up and search for clues, but stay safe. If we split up we'll be in more danger." that was something he'd had to learn while in the wilds and probably the hardest thing to accept as well. Now he had to apply it back home, and he was a bit rusty at being reasonable when it didn't come naturally. Stale badger scent clung to the air, so he at least knew he'd led them back to the right place.
Harespring didn't know how to feel about having his brother lead the patrol.. It felt strange to have the deputy here, but her not actively be the one in charge. Despite his mixed feelings, he listened intently, making sure to take in the advice of his brother. He didn't want to end up with issues down the line especially when it came to fighting the beast. So he did what he needed to do and searched for the thing. The creature had certainly been through the area before, but there wasn't any strong evidence that pointed to where it was currently. He would have to keep searching.
