Welcome to the third Duties & Patrols for 2024! The rules are simple: post in a posting order, do your duties well, report any problems encountered during the patrol to a leader or deputy, and enjoy! Please remember that sign-ups have resetted, so please sign up again if you wish to join for next month's Duties & Patrols <3
For the mock battle, it will be treated as an "official" battle. You have 48 hours to post in the topic before the battle begins, 36 hours after the battle begins to make your first move, and 36 hours to reply after your opponent has posted.

Sootstorm stretched his front paws, preparing himself for the upcoming battle. After the first mock battle had been surprisingly well-received, he decided to continue it every moon or so, in order to keep both the battle skills and morale of his clanmates high. Today's patrol held a few members that had taken part in the previous mock battle: himself, Galestorm, and Oatpaw, while the rest of the patrol, Sleepyhollow, Eaglefly, Marigoldpaw, Auburnpaw and Eveningmoon had yet to participate in any. This was both a chance for him to report to Tigerstar the training progress of the apprentices and a time for everyone to get together and familiarize themselves with the battle techniques of their clanmates, which may come in handy in the future. The deputy flicked his tail as he waited for his team to get ready.

Auburnpaw entered the area without a single word. She had changed a lot from the bratty kit in the nursery constantly throwing her weight around. Stars, she wasn't even the same apprentice that overstepped her boundaries with Leopardstar and Tigerstar. She was much quieter now, far more calculating. Far colder. She took one look at Sootstorm and flicked an ear in greeting to the deputy, but aside from that, she was content recline upon her haunches and remain silent. There was no indication of the flames that burned inside of her, the eagerness for battle or the thirst for power and blood. Anyone who looked at her would see nothing more than a quiet, reserved, patiently waiting she-cat.
She was getting good at this game of pretend.

Eaglefly had noticed heightened tensions with shadowclan. Perhaps that was the reason that soot had been doing more and more of these mock battles. He went over to his team's side of the area and sat between Soot and Aurburn. Neither of whom seemed very talkative this morning. Alright... maybe they just wanted to focus.
The jesterful tom gave a bit of a smirks grin trying to think of any jokes to lighten the seemingly heavy mood... had anyone bothered to tell them this was just practice?
He looked at the other team and saw his older sister on the other team. He waved to her and jokingly held up a paw pointing to her in a bit of a challenge of 'imma get you' kind of way.
He could get into this he gave a bit of a jump up and swayed back and forth getting hyped up. "you can surrender any time you want sleepy!" he called out jokingly to his sister.

Eveningmoon wasn't thrilled, in fact she was a bit distressed to have been chosen for the 'mock battle.' She had thought she had proven to Tigerstar that she wasn't one for spars when she panicked in her assessment he had tried to give her a gentle bite - one that had thrown her off so badly that she only 'won' by throwing herself in a blind tackle at her mentor. But she also wasn't the type to refuse what she had been chosen for so she dutifully followed her Clanmates, taking a seat off on her team's side as she waited for Sootstorm to start this - praying that she wouldn't have to fight the deputy herself.

Galestorm approached the group of cats at a brisk trot, tail held high. He nodded to each cat in turn as he reached the group, and dipped his head to his deputy.
"Hello everyone," he meowed, his whiskers twitching at Eaglefly's energetic teasing, as always. His deep amber eyes lingered on Auburnpaw, until finally he gave her one long, friendly blink and settled himself opposite from them. His assigned team was an assortment of cats he was not used to working with, opening up opportunities for teamwork and growth.
"May the best cat win," he declared, lowering himself into a readied crouch.

"In your dreams!" she sang back with a smile, her tail flicking back and forth. She had yet to participate in the mock battles, but it was a great opportunity to keep the muscles warm. The calico dipped her head to those on her team before returning gaze to their 'opponents'. This would be fun.

Eaglefly squinted his eyes at his sister. She had been a warrior longer than he had, but that wouldnt stop him from still trying to best her now. If anything, it was good practice for both of them, he wanted to make sure she was in good fighting form so that she could defend herself if anything ever happened, he wouldnt lose her too, not like Jay and Sparrow.
With an excited whoop he charged right at her!

Seeing that cats had dropped out of the mock battle, Cloudypetal volunteered herself to help her brother take down the deputy. It was payback for sending her running the last mock battle! She was guaranteed to get him this time. Amusement flickered in her mismatched gaze as she ran into battle, headbutting her deputy. She felt like a kit.
Cloudypetal used Headbutt on Sootstorm, dealing 6 total damage and -5 SP.

As soon as it was time to fight, Auburnpaw bolted forward and immediately began to use her swiftness to strike as many open points as Eveningmoon might had. Her claw were sheathed of course, but it was a conscious effort to keep them that way.
Auburnpaw used Front Paw Strike and Swift Strike, dealing 11 damage and -17SP

Eveningmoon was stuck in place every cat on her side charged - all but her. Her eyes were wide as she took in the sight, this being her first experience of what an actual battle could look like. Her ears slicked back, taking a nervous step backwards before suddenly Auburnpaw had closed the distance as the two were the last cats to get into a fight.
She winced as Auburnpaw batted at her, stumbling away before she made a leap at Auburnpaw to knock the apprentice to the ground in an effort to have a moment or two to gather herself at least.
Eveningmoon used Leap and hold on Auburnpaw, dealing 8 damage and costing 15 stamina. Auburnpaw is stunned for 1 turns.

OOC: After some thought, the timer has been increased to 48 hours rather than 36 hours for everyone to post after their opponent has. Happy fighting!
The battle began, and instantly Sootstorm was attacked by two of his clanmates. Galestorm went in straight for an attack, while his sister assisted him in his assault. It was clear that the siblings had trained together many times, but unfortunately for them Sootstorm had been a warrior far longer than any of them. He lunged forward, barreling Galestorm over and pining him to the ground. Take that!
Sootstorm used Leap and Hold, dealing 10dmg and -15SP Galestorm is pinned for one round

Auburnpaw wasn't about to let Eveningmoon re-orient enough to fight effectively. She threw her entire body into an attempt to slip away from the warrior's grasp, though she admitted it took more out of her than she thought it would. She managed to wiggle free of Eveningmoon's paws though and she intended to make her attacker pay for putting her on the ground even for a moment once she caught her breath.
Moor Runner is active (and I am an idiot for forgetting; adjusting HP of Auburn and Evening to account for that) -1 damage per attack toward a Windclan cat! Auburnpaw used Duck and Twist, dealing 6 (-1 fighting against a Windclan cat) damage and -5SP
