Galestorm
Galestorm took it upon himself to lead the patrol shoulder-to-shoulder with Cloudypetal, accompanied by Oatpaw. The trio had been assigned to refresh the scent markings along the ShadowClan border. Tigerstar and Sootstorm had warned them to be cautious after Leopardstar's visit to the camp.
Galestorm lifted his tail on a bush and continued onward, his pace steady. "Keep up, Oatpaw," he mewed over his shoulder at the apprentice. "Watch your back. Make sure you're checking for fresh ShadowClan scent, too," he instructed. His jaws parted to drink in the scents of the border. ShadowClan had been here recently, perhaps this morning.

OATPAWare you going to age with grace? he/him - windclan apprentice
Oatpaw nodded dutifully, following Galestorm's lead across the moor. His shorter legs made it hard to keep up with the limber siblings, but he managed, grateful he had at least inherited the stamina of a WindClan cat, if not the build of one. He brought up the rear, stopping to sniff every few foxlengths, every hair on his pelt on alert. Would they see any ShadowClan cats today? Oatpaw shivered. He hoped not. Tensions had been high, and Oatpaw didn't want any trouble. "Why can't the Clans just be friends?" He muttered to himself, hoping Galestorm wouldn't hear. He knew how other warriors could be when it came to his idealism. But why not? Why did they have to fight all the time? Wouldn't they rather be at peace?
Still, he followed the older tom's orders, tasting the air with pricked ears and narrowed eyes. He admired Galestorm - and part of him wanted to be like the great warrior one day. If it came to it, Oatpaw vowed, he would protect his Clan, no matter what. He didn't prefer violence, but... these cats were his family.
There. The heavy scent of marshland and pine. He paused, his hackles raising. "Galestorm, Cloudypetal, wait." Oatpaw meowed, keeping his voice low, though it was thick with warning. His tail rose, stiff with alarm, motioning for them to stay still. "ShadowClan. It smells fresh." The mottled tom padded slowly to stand in line with his Clanmates and glanced toward them with concern. What do we do?
Stagpaw had lagged behind the patrol, taking his time marking the scent borders - perhaps stopping to play with a bug or two. He was in his own world, especially today. He was investigating a particularly interesting worm when he heard pawsteps behind him and assumed his patrol mates had caught him messing around. Rats! This was not the time to get into trouble. He would just tell them he was hunting. Yeah. Stagpaw wiggled his rear, pushing himself out of the bush, when he caught the Windclan scent. And it was close. Too close.
Muscles tensing in alarm, Stagpaw jumped out of the bush and whirled towards the pawsteps he had heard. Through the bushes he saw a brownish apprentice with a few others, all facing his side of the border. Stagpaw’s heart started to pound and he dropped to the forest floor hoping he hadn’t been spotted. Though he did not account for his plume of a tail that was still high in the air and lashing back and forth.
Yeah…he wasn’t the sharpest claw on the paw.

Cloudypetal's eyes were sharp and alert as she padded alongside her brother - she could feel the tension in the air. The weight of recent events hung over them like a storm cloud. It frustrated her. They were already dealing with too much.
She was snapped back to reality when Oatpaw spoke and she stopped in her pawsteps immediately. "Good catch, Oatpaw," Cloudypetal's voice was soft. Her eyes narrowed as she focused on the scent of ShadowClan that lingered in the air. Her lip slightly curled. It was fresh. Oatpaw was right. "We don't want to start a fight if we don't have to. Be ready for anything."
She cast a glance at Galestorm, her silent communication hopefully clear. She picked up the subtle rustling of leaves on the other side of the border, a sound that didn't belong to her patrol. She turned her head, her mismatched gaze falling on the young ShadowClan apprentice. Amusement sparkled in her gaze - he was attempting to hide in the foliage yet his tail still waved in the air. She stifled a soft laugh, and her demeanor softened. She pointed towards the pathetic sight with her tail.
"Hey there!" She called, her tone gentle yet carrying a smidge of amusement and sternness. "No need to hide. You seem quite absorbed in whatever you're investigating there."
He was just an apprentice. They could be civil and exchange pleasantries. No doubt in her mind she'd tell Sootstorm about what they saw, though, just to be on the safe side.

Hedgepaw followed the rest of the patrol, sticking close to the older warriors, until she noticed that Stagpaw had vanished. Had he found a cool rock or bug or something, and gotten sidetracked? "I'll be right back," she promised the others. Then she scampered back over to the border they'd been marking. It was just like her brother to forget what they were doing. But if he'd found something really cool, she wanted to see too! "Stagpaw? We're all moving on up ahead. What did you find?--" Why was he hiding like that, and his tail sticking up? How odd. He wasn't even hiding well. Maybe this was some kind of new game he was playing. But then she heard another voice, a new one, and her fur stood on end.
It was a WindClan cat. They weren't supposed to talk to those, right? Wide green eyes peered over the outcropping and saw a whole patrol of WindClan cats. No wonder Stagpaw was hiding. Her first instinct was to run off and hide behind a bush or tree like her brother, but it seemed they'd already been spotted. There wasn't much point. And WindClan hadn't even attacked yet, so... maybe they were friendly. Hedgepaw stayed firmly on their side of the border, but pressed close to her brother. Hopefully he'd get back up and they could just go. They hadn't trespassed! They should be fine. "H-hi," she squeaked. "How, uh... how are you?"

Lilypaw
Although Lilypaw was an "apprentice" by name, she wasn't treated as much as an apprentice as other cats might have been. After all, she was still a fully trained adult cat, even if she was significantly weaker than other warriors (and apparently, even some apprentices.)
Still, when their patrol had reached the WindClan border and spotted a patrol, it was easy for Lilypaw to take the lead in discussion. Especially seeing as her denmates seemed to be a bit nervous, and understandably so.
Distantly, Lilypaw took note of the cats on the other patrol. She realized she didn't actually recognize any of them, and they all looked younger than her. Part of Lilypaw wanted to cringe at that thought. She felt so old seeing all these new faces. Still, she dipped her head politely in greeting.
"Hello. I hope everything is well in WindClan?"
Nothing wrong with making polite conversation. Both patrols were on their own sides of the border, even if that border wasn't exactly where Lilypaw remembered it being. Still, with their patrol being mainly apprentices, she definitely wasn't looking for a fight. And so far, the other patrol hasn't given them reason for hostility.
With luck, this confrontation can easily blow over without any blood shed.
"speech."
If we did what was easy, then there wouldn't be anything to live for. —— info.

Galestorm
"Great job, Oatpaw," he mirrored his sister's praise as the apprentice caught the scent of fresh ShadowClan scent. The tom was grateful for his sister's reasonability, in stark contrast of Auburnpaw's the last time he was on a patrol near this border. His amber eyes narrowed on the form of a young ShadowClan apprentice as Cloudypetal called out to them - and was swiftly joined by another young apprentice. Galestorm took up post at Cloudypetal's shoulder, his tail high, chest puffed out. Was Cloudypetal laughing?
I suppose they haven't exactly crossed the border, so no harm, no foul - today at least. Aside from the awkward exchange between the two leaders in camp several days ago, the situation had seemed to resolve itself fairly cleanly, and Galestorm preferred to keep it that way. There were recent rumors that not all was peaceful in the forest, and somehow WindClan had been able to stay away from any chaos since settling back on the moor. A peaceful clan is a safe clan.
"Hello there," Galestorm meowed across the border. How are you? Now Galestorm's whiskers twitched as his patrol was regarded by the two admittedly awkward young cats.
The two apprentices were followed up by a third, older she-cat who greeted them kindly. "All is well in WindClan," he replied with a slight dip of his head, shooting a sideways glance at Cloudypetal beside him. He didn't recognize this she-cat from any of the gatherings he'd been to. "And how about in ShadowClan?" he asked politely, happy to see that things were still cordial between the two patrols. "Is the prey running well?"

OATPAWare you going to age with grace? he/him - windclan apprentice
Oatpaw broke into a grin, feeling a rush of pride and warmth at the warriors' praise. He'd been a bit anxious about this patrol - being the only apprentice and having barely spoken to Galestorm or Cloudypetal before made him nervous, but he'd done well! His first border patrol, and he'd actually done well. He purred. "Thanks!"
Then the gravity of the situation brought him back to his rare good senses. Wait. There were potential enemy warriors just across the border. He was being a mousebrain - though, he supposed they weren't exactly enemies... maybe just cats who might meet them with hostile gazes. But Cloudypetal's expression lightened, and Oatpaw realized it was just a pair of apprentices and an older cat he'd never seen before. His eyes brightened and he started forward again, letting his ears prick up with curiosity. Thank StarClan - there would be no unsheathed claws today! Besides, he'd never truly met a ShadowClan cat before. He'd seen them at Gatherings, sure, but they'd never spoken.
His gaze landed on the two apprentices as Galestorm exchanged boring pleasantries with the other cat. "Hello there!" Oatpaw greeted, his voice friendly. They seemed anxious, but there was no reason to be afraid. He stepped a little closer to the border, admittedly not very careful about where he placed his paws, though he stayed on WindClan's side. His whiskers twitching in amusement at the tom who was 'hiding', his tail swinging back and forth carelessly. "I'm Oatpaw! You can come on out of hiding. I'm hardly scary." He purred, mirroring Cloudypetal's words.
A careful green gaze met his, and the tom realized there was a dark, furry shape pressed against the tom. He'd hardly even noticed! ShadowClan cats were sneaky. "I'm great! I'm getting my warrior name soon." Oatpaw bragged, answering the molly. "Say, what are you guys called?"
