The day is warmer than usual for a leafbare day, the sun shining brightly down on the clan’s territory. As the selected few cats draw closer and closer to the fourtrees guided by the words their medicine cat’s shared, they found something completely different than what they expected. The clan cats heard it before they saw it. The sound of twoleg chatter filling their air with the various barks of their dogs. Of course among the sounds were the sounds of cats. Harder to hear but there..
Within view of the fourtrees, twolegs and their kits are everywhere. Their dogs are just the same. In the middle of it all, in front of the greatrock, sat cages on top of some strange platforms. Clanmates and strangers alike stuck within.. What will you do?
Cages can only be unlocked from the outside, meaning a clanmate will have to help the trapped ones escape. Unlocking the cage requires a roll of the effect dice. 1-3 is a successful unlock. 4-5 is a fail. With a 6 you are grabbed by a twoleg and must break free! Will take a full post to do so.
There are also four loose dogs that will have to be occupied if you want the escape to be successful. (Dogs are labeled 1 though 4)

Mottlestar had hardly slept since the gathering. Between her own daughter causing Starclan's wrath to be brought upon the Clan and the prophecy brought to her by Fawnshine, there was more than enough on her mind to keep her up through the night. Her tail twitched with agitation as she led her small group to Fourtrees, and she felt the pressure weighing down on her shoulders. All she could think of was her clanmate's calls, hoping to be freed. Among them, Beetleshade and Specklewish came to mind. Both having been her apprentices, stuck under the clutch of twolegs.
It was a sharp scent of something wrong that hit her nostrils first. Then, her ears. They perked straight up, honing in on their target - Fourtrees itself. What in the name of the stars..? The molly thought. She had to swallow most of her panic down, given that she was leading in her Clanmates. Looking to Murkyripple first, the look on her daughter's face all but confirmed her worst fears- she smelled it too.
Her gaze followed to Starlingflare and Comfreyheart next, the two senior warriors she had brought with her. There was no use in waiting. "Whatever is out there, we need to stay safe. This reeks of two-legs." Just as she spoke, the clearing would come into view, and if she could have felt the pit in her stomach get any bigger... that would have been the moment. Fourtrees, overrun by two-legs and cats alike. Some of them scented of the forest, but only barely, but all of it was the sting of wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong wrong wrong. Screeches of alarm was crying out in her mind stronger than any other, and all Mottlestar could do was take a deep breath and come up with a quick plan.
"Check the cages, we'll be going in pairs of two. Comfreyheart, Murkyripple, you two go together and find if any of our Clanmates are there. Starlingflare, you'll go with me." She could trust Comfreyheart with her daughter. They had to find them... somehow.
Mottlestar is beginning the search for her Clanmates! The first thing that the young warrior noticed was the scent. It was like nothing she had smelled before, but at the same time, reminded her of the sting of the two-leg traps that had littered Thunderclan's territory. She'd been keen on telling her apprentices to mind themselves while she was away, as the last thing she wanted to hear was of their misbehavior. But all of that was gone from her mind the second it had hit her nose, and it was like she was a dog on a scent trail. Unfortunately for her, there were literal dogs at this event as well. She heard their barking, their distinctive sounds bringing the molly to a sharp alertness.
Orders came from her mother, which earned the smaller tortoiseshell nothing more than a stoic dip of her head. It looked as if she was more than angry, and in a way, she was. Her fur bristled with frustration at how the two-legs had desecrated the sacred land of Fourtrees. But it also was her symbol of focus. Looking towards Comfreyheart, the she-cat gave her a nod. "Let's go. The sooner we find our clanmates, the better. Let me know if we pass by any other clan-cats. We might as well free them too." There was anger bubbling lower in her throat, but she was about to waste no time. "Stars know I'd hate to be in this situation."
Murkyripple is following Comfreyheart's lead as they search! Minksplash is at Fourtrees... waiting for her clanmates to begin their search!

Sprucebark was locked in a cage his heart pounded as he looked around. He was back at fourtrees! He was so close to home if only he could get out he would be free! He tried to push against the gate but nothing would work. The scent of dogs made his fur stand on end. He was terrified. He tried to glance over to see his sister Sandyshell in the cage next to his own but could not the view too limited from the edges of his trap.
He fought back panic the best he could but there felt like dogs and twolegs everywhere he had no idea what he could do. He felt so helpless and like he couldnt protect Sandyshell like he was supposed to be able to do.

Shrikestar felt unease prickling along his pelt as he led a small contingent of warriors to Fourtrees. The sight of their clanmates crying for help, locked up in cages... It must have been horrid for the medicine cats to have witnessed. He could only imagine, though that imagination was about to become a reality. Whatever was waiting for them at Fourtrees likely couldn't be good. It was never easy.
As they got closer, his nostrils were inflamed with many terrible scents. There was the scent of the forest, of cats familiar and not, but they were buried under the scent of twolegs. As they reached the edge of Fourtrees, Shrikestar was alarmed to see what appeared to be dozens of twolegs patrolling their sacred site. Dogs moved along with them, their maws opening and shutting with a dangerous glint of teeth. In front of the Great Rock, where the deputies would usually be, there was cage after cage filled with terrified cats. Their fear-scent was rampant, though still obscured somewhat by all the other going-ons. This was a terrible situation to be in, but he could still hear the cries of his clanmates, cats from the other clans. He couldn't leave them there. It was time to act.
"Coyotegrin, you and Amberstone go check the cages. Free everyone you can, and be on the lookout for Smallbean." The deputy was still missing after all this time, and if he was there, they had to save him. "Weaselfoot and I will guard you. None of the twolegs or dogs will get to you on our watch." With that, the WindClan leader streamed into the buzzing clearing, eyeing the perimeter and looking over his shoulder to make sure his own clanmates were getting through okay.

It was a testament to just how miserable the twoleg's nest had been that Poppy almost- almost!- felt more content in a cage in this unfamiliar place. At least here she could sort of see the outside world. Though the more she thought about it, that was almost worse: the grass that she couldn't touch, the leaves of the nearby trees taunting her endlessly.
Meanwhile she curled up uncomfortably in her prison and closed her eyes, wondering if perhaps it would have been better if she had never left home at all. Whatever happened next, she hoped she'd at least get to feel the sun on her fur again after this.
The sounds were loud and overwhelming, though she could make out the scraping of nearby cats struggling in the spaces next to her. It was tempting to join them again, but she'd tired of that already.

To say that Perchstar was on edge would be an understatement. She had been hesitant about the omen, but apparently her moons of silently begging the stars to finally do something about their situation had--perhaps--been answered. Apparently their missing Clanmates would be in Fourtrees. She wanted every able paw to help her retrieve them... but with their greatly reduced number of warriors, leaving camp undefended was practically a death sentence. So it was with a heavy heart and a hesitant tinge of hope to her moons-long fear that she left Poppyshine and all the other warriors to guard RiverClan camp, and took only Stormdance with her to Fourtrees. He had proven himself to be reliable, strong, and trustworthy. Besides... if she knew him, she knew that his desperate desire to retrieve Rowanpaw was matched only by Poppyshine's deep need to recover all of her kits. Hopefully, whatever the stars had in store, they could face it together.
She had been attempting to mentally prepare herself as they traveled, as stealthily as possible, to the site of the Gathering's disaster only a few days prior. The cries of Twolegs grew steadily louder as they approached, making her fur bristle slightly. Obviously it would be similar to the time they had invaded Fourtrees, right?... However, she was not prepared for the sight that met her eyes when she and Stormdance finally stumbled into the clearing. Brightly colored contraptions all over the place, more Twolegs than she had ever seen together before, several dogs running rampant... and there. In front of the Great Rock. A tower of odd shapes that held cats captive. Were her Clanmates there? Immediately, beyond the loud unfamiliar sounds, her eye caught sight of a familiar pelt color through one of the traps. Sprucebark. If he was there, was Sandyshell? Rowanpaw, Minksplash, all the others? So... this is what Mallardstep meant.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Mottlestar and Shrikestar, who must have received the same messages from their own medicine cats. They had brought more warriors to assist them. Hopefully their numbers might be better at holding off the few ravenous-looking dogs she saw begin to prowl closer. "Stormdance," Perchstar hissed urgently. "Our Clanmates are up there. If you can go and try to free them--use your claws, teeth, anything--then I'll watch your back and keep the dogs away from you. Just make sure not to get caught yourself, all right?"
Perchstar has told Stormdance to search for their Clanmates while she helps hold off the dogs.

The patrol to Fourtrees had been quiet, but tense. None of them knew, exactly, what they were walking into... but at the end of the day, it didn't matter. If they could help the cats who had been captured, it was worth the risk... none of them deserved to stay at the mercy of the twolegs.
Arriving at the clearing itself, there was absolute mayhem. SkyClan wasn't alone, anymore, as she noticed several other clan cats arriving around the same time. Some of them split off to the row of cages that were sitting atop a platform near the center. Spottedfrog's gaze swept them, but she couldn't make out any of the cats behind the bars. Ah well, any free cat was an ally. Taking a running sprint, Spottedfrog leaped up on to the table that held the cages - and came face to face with her sister.
"Beechfang," she almost hissed, ears slicking back. How appropriate, that her elder sister need to be rescued like this... and fate that it was she that had the task of doing it... or not doing it.
Her nose crinkled, and she stared at the former SkyClanner with an accusatory bitterness in her gray-green eyes. They flicked down to the mechanism that held the cage closed. "If roles were reversed, I believe with everything in me that you'd leave me stranded," she snarled. Her gaze hardened on Beechfang's face. "But I'm not you." She slammed her paws against the lock, and it popped out, the cage door swinging open ever so slightly. Stepping back, Spottedfrog turned away to find the next cat in need of freedom.
Spottedfrog has succeeded in breaking Beechfang out.

Stormdance
Fourtrees
Stormdance had been surprised and honored that Perchstar had asked him to come along for this, but he wouldn't lie and say that the mysterious prophecy didn't have his nerves on edge. However, if there was even a chance that they could retrieve their lost clanmates and bring them home, Stormdance was willing to do anything. He walked beside Perchstar with nerves on edge, the scent of Twolegs growing more and more overwhelming the closer they got to Fourtrees. His ears laid flat as they came into the clearing and his eyes landed on the gathering of Twolegs taking place.
The very sight of the place was overwhelming, the scent of dog mixing in with twoleg and causing every one of Stormdance's nerves to scream danger! Still, he held himself in place beside his leader and turned to look at her when she hissed his name. He followed her gaze to the rows of cages, eyes landing on Sprucebark's familiar pelt. Stormdance's resolve firmed, and he straightened up with a determined glint in his eyes as Perchstar gave him instructions.
"Got it," He said with a sharp nod. "Stay safe too," He added, a note of nervousness in his tone as he glanced at the dogs as they came close. Perchstar would not be alone, given the fact that he can see the parties from other clans begin to move into the clearing, but four dogs was still a great danger to any cat. Still, he trusted Perchstar's judgement more than anyone's, so he pulled away and begins making his way carefully over to the great rock. He tried to give the twolegs a wide berth and stay out of their sights while also moving as quickly as his paws could carry him.
"Sprucebark!" He hissed urgently, leaping onto the table where he saw Sprucebark's cage. "It'll be okay, I'm going to get you out of here," He promised as he raked his eyes over the twoleg contraption holding his clanmate. He shoved his paws against the lock holding Sprucebark, trying to pop it open. Unfortunately, the cage did not budge yet, and Stormdance let out a soft hiss of frustration as he checked over his shoulder for danger. He resumed his attempts, urgency pulsing under his pelt.
Stormdance tried to free Sprucebark, and failed!
Honeylight
Fourtrees
Honeylight found himself pressing against the hard walls of the cage holding him, breathing hard as he stared out at all the mingling twolegs beyond the bars of the cage. His teeth bared when any came too close. He felt trapped and overwhelmed, the walls pressing in on him. The cage felt too small, though maybe it was a perfectly normal size and Honeylight was just panicking a little. He did not like being trapped in here, the smell of dog has hit his nostrils and he can hear their horrible cries. He was in fourtrees, and the sight of something familiar would be comforting, if it weren't for the everything else.

Birdstar
Apprehension prickled through Birdstar's paws as she lead the small patrol towards Fourtrees. She had no desire to return there– SkyClan had spent far, far too much time there this season, and lightning searing to earth was a hard sight to forget, especially given SkyClan's... history, with the clearing. But when every Clan had a medicine cat racing up to squawk about a prophecy (or collapsing in the middle of the Gathering), and Mottlestar told her what the message had been... she couldn't turn it away. That their Clanmates might be there– that Plumleaf, Crookedpaw, and Astershine could be waiting for their rescue. She could even almost trick herself into thinking Beechfang would be there, provided her mother had actually been captured and wasn't buried somewhere in Twolegplace.
But as they drew closer to the clearing, there was little time to dwell on her personal reservations. The clamor of twolegs and their hounds was shattering, and the buried, muddled voices of a dozen cats didn't help. Birdstar's attention swept over the clearing, watching as those from other Clans descended, making towards the boxes cats were being sheltered in. Spottedfrog had started off without her, racing towards those that were trapped. The dark pelt was lost in the shuffle of bodies, and Birdstar's lip curled slightly when she lost sight of the warrior. Turning to her remaining patrolmates, she quietly hissed, "Stoneheart, follow Spottedfrog as best you can. Help free as many cats as possible. Thornstalker, we're keeping the dogs busy."
With that and a lash of her tail, Birdstar descended into the chaos. Cats were ranging towards the loose dogs, but none had attacked yet. Maybe an attack wasn't warranted... but running couldn't keep their attention forever. Dodging bumbling legs, Birdstar sought the nearest dog and sprang forward, barreling into it with all the weight she could put behind her legs.
Birdstar used Jumping Strike on Dog #1, dealing 15 (10+3+2) damage and costing 7 SP.
Birdstar 80/80 HP 163/170 (-7) SP
Dog #1 85/100 (-15) HP 200/200 SP
Rowanpaw
The harsh lashing of his tail against the side of the cage was unsteady and relentless. His muscles were wound tight, bunched so taught he could already feel tomorrow's soreness creeping into him. Every hair on his pelt was raised, swelling him to twice his size; his eyes were thin, burning slights; and his lip was curled back to reveal teeth. Any twoleg that came by to peer at him was greeted with a fierce hiss and a heavy paw banging against the grate before they could really take him in.
Rowanpaw was, simply put, terrified.
Being lifted and bundled into this cage was frightening enough. He'd spent so long dodging the twoleg's attention, and barring rare occasions, had succeeded. But to not only fail in escaping interest, but to be returned to a cage, then a monster, then passed between furless paws and more monsters and... and brought back to Fourtrees. Even though he could barely see through the small, barred opening of the cage, he'd known it as soon as he was brought here. He was so close to being home, he could almost hear the river thundering in his ears. This time he wasn't being dragged away, just... set out, on display. Left to wait and watch, as twolegs and their dogs flooded the clearing. It was taunting. Rowanpaw threw himself side to side, hoping he could rock his cage to the grass below. Maybe it would shatter, the grate would pop and he could wriggle free and dart out between the shambling bodies around him. Or he would pop his own neck, and at least he would have gone out fighting.
The effort was wasted, though. The cage didn't roll to the floor and shatter against his weight like he'd hoped. Instead, it just rattled a bit, knocking uselessly against the cage beside him– where Crookedpaw was. Even if he couldn't see the SkyClanner, Rowanpaw knew his scent. Still, it didn't stop him from trying, throwing himself against the hard walls until his shoulders ached.

Crookedpaw
Crookedpaw had not expected this all when he awoke that morning. It had felt like a day of any other, until a bunch of people entered the twoleg nest. They brought many traps like Crookedpaw had been caught in, and began scooping up cats left and right. He had thought about what Rowanpaw said on his first day, about being taken to the Cutters. He id his best to try and evade the twolegs' huge paws, but he was not quick enough. They had thick hides on their paws and limbs which meant they did not react to vicious scratching as they usually did. Soon enough...they were trapped, as well as most other cats in the nest. He never even saw the twoleg woman as they were all carted out and put into one of their great monsters.
And now...here they were. Crookedpaw did not know why they were put out like this and not released from these traps. He did not know why there were so many twolegs around, and dogs, which kept close to the other twolegs as though they were clanmates. He had only ever known dogs as predators of the forest. Were they kin to twolegs? There were so many things that Crookedpaw still did not know or understand...He was not even sure he cared to find out. He batted and claws uselessly at the mesh front of the trap, but it was made of hard thick material like touch branches, and refused to break even under his insistent pattering.
Part of him wanted to call out for Rowanpaw. Crookedpaw was certain that he had been stolen away as well, but it was hard to see other cats because of the way that the traps were laid out. Besides...it was probably not a good idea to call out to him anyway. He did not think Rowanpaw cared for him in the slightest, and Crookedpaw could not blame him. Crookedpaw did not want to care for Rowanpaw any longer, not since their fight, but even he had to admit to himself that there was still something of care lingering beneath the surface. It was something that he could not explain or understand...and just like the mysteries of the twolegs and their traditions, perhaps it was not worth trying to find out exactly what the truth was anyway.
His ears perked up. His nose twitched. Was that--Could it-? He smelled clans! He got to his paws and pressed his face against the mesh front. After a moment of looking...there! He spotted them! There were a few different cats approaching while twolegs were busy in another area. His heart started beating faster. They were being rescued. Maybe...he actually would be able to go home...!
Iceheart
Iceheart had no idea what to expect when Nightstar instructed her and a number of other warriors to go and investigate Fourtrees because of a StarClan prophecy. There were not many details, and she could not blame him or Burdockroot because of it. StarClan was very vague in the best of times. Still, she wished that they knew anything about what to...
She stopped short as they arrived at Fourtrees and saw that it was overrun with twolegs. Her heart started beating faster. Was this what the prophecy meant? Were twolegs now permanently moved into Fourtrees?! Her eyes darted around, not sure what to make of the scene. There were dogs everywhere as well...wait. By the Great Rock, away from a majority of the twolegs, were a series of those strange traps. She saw a series of cats and even from here amidst the smell of twolegs and dogs, she could tell that they were clan cats. So that meant...
Honeylight. She saw him. Her eyes widened. After so long with him missing, he was here...There were other cats, no doubt other clanmates, but Honeylight was her son. He was going to be her priority, first and foremost. Everything else, including twolegs and the dogs, did not matter in this moment. She had to get him out of there. Iceheart moved forward, narrowly avoiding twolegs and their dogs. She leapt up onto the strange elevated surface and came face-to-face with Honeylight in the cage.
"Honey," Iceheart whispered, her eyes wide and wet with emotion. "You're here...! I'm going to get you out, alright? We have all missed you so much." She looked back at the contraption that held Honeylight in place. She was not sure how it worked and was not even sure if she could get Honeylight out...but that did not mean she was not going to try. She would try multiple times over if she needed to. After giving one quick glance over her shoulder to make sure no twoleg was about to grab her by her scruff, she turned back and began messing with the trap. It was difficult and she was not sure how to unlatch the mesh front. Her frustration began to mount as she batted at it, trying to figure out how to get her son out.

The twolegs had finally decided to move her from their wretched cutter's, and Beechfang had not made the journey pleasant, yowling and hissing at them. She was fully expecting to go to some other nest, but this time was different. More cats were moved along with her, and even dogs, which she could hear barking. She was able to see out of the slats of her cage, and fourtrees had been the last place she'd thought to see again. There was a commotion with several of the dogs, it seemed, and twoleg chatter filled her ears. Several of them were going from cage to cage, and why, Beechfang wasn't sure. She only knew that she disliked it.
So when a shadow was cast across her cage and it wasn't a twoleg, her fur bristled. Spottedfrog, of all the cats... Looking just as startled and dismayed as Beechfang was. "You need bodies against those dogs." She hissed back. Her head dropped at Spottedfrog's words. "In another time, maybe you'd be right." She admitted, "I'm not that cat anymore, Spottedfrog." She didn't think her half-sister would listen to her words, and now was not the time for arguments. Clan cats had showed up, and plenty more were captured. What the twolegs had been thinking by bringing the dogs here she didn't know, but someone would needed to deal with them. First though, they needed to free as many cats as they could. Beechfang paced along the rows of cages... And her eyes widened upon seeing a familiar gray and white face. "Plumleaf!" Without hesitation, the big tabby reared back, aiming to slam her paws into the mechanism that kept the cage shut just as Spottedfrog had done. "Foxdung! Let me try again." The lock on this one was stubborn, it seemed, but Beechfang would not give up. She would get her daughter out of here if she could.
Beechfang has been freed, and is attempting to free Plumleaf. Attempt failed!
---
Stoneheart followed Birdstar, fluffy silvery pelt lifting as they neared fourtrees only to hear the distinct sounds of twoleg chatter and dogs barking. It made her stomach churn, but the Skyclanner's face remained carefully neutral. With a nod at her leader's words, she warily approached the cages, finding a cat whom she thought looked vaguely familiar. Skyclan, judging by the look of him, and that was enough. She'd seen the way they broke apart before when Stormwatcher had saved her sister, it seemed like these contraptions were similarly made... The warrior struck at it with a heavy paw. The mechanism fell away, the door of the cage swinging open. "I am so glad that worked... Come on!" She mewed.
Stoneheart is attempting to free Astershine. Attempt successful!
