The goose was starting to move more sluggishly after Brookstone's attack. It seemed... dizzy almost? The heavy strike to its head had it wobbly, its long neck hanging low like it couldn't carry itself back up. If he could just...
With the bird's neck as a much more achievable goal, Martenpaw latched on with his jaws, keeping the goose's head down with a paw so it couldn't strike anyone else. His teeth squeezed the vulnerable anatomy there, his overgrown fangs digging deep as he silently pled for the bird to stop fighting. Martenpaw used Snap, costing 7 SP and dealing 6 damage! Goose 2 has been K.Oed!

Poppyshine hissed when the goose attacked at her again, and she answered in part with her own claws down the side of the goose’s neck. Her claws drew blood and ripped out feathers. She knew the bird had to be close to going down, or at the very least flee from their camp.
Poppyshine used Front Paw Strike, dealing 10 damage and costing 7 SP.
(OOC: Say this is after Hawkshriek was freed from Fourtrees.)
As fast as he could, Hawkshriek hurried back to camp, his paws aching with memories of setting foot back on Riverclan and returning to his clanmates. He would have to see how everyone has been, how Poppyshine and his siblings have been doing — yet he could immediately feel his heart drop in his chest as he heard the yowls from his clanmates, as well as the ruffling of feathers and squawks. He was all too familiar with the sound of the geese, and Hawkshriek made a straight dash into camp.
Seeing one goose lay limp in an apprentice's jaws, and in the midst of battle with Poppyshine, his eyes widened. With a low hiss escaping his throat, Hawkshriek didn't hesitate to leap up and bring himself down on the creature, claws unsheathed. His claws sliced against it, and with one last squawk, the goose fell limp to the ground, unmoving. Once he made sure the beast was down, he looked up to Poppyshine, green eyes scanning to see if she had any injuries. "Ma, are you alright?" Once he made sure she was okay, he let out a soft sigh, his ears no longer pinned. "I'm finally back..."
Hawkshriek used Front Paw Strike, dealing 8 damage and using 7 SP.
As Hawkshriek defeated the last goose, the warrior sighed, catching her breath before trotting over to her apprentice. "Darkpaw. Are you alright? I'm so proud of you." she meowed, resting her muzzle on top of his head for a moment, "Let Mallardstep look at you, hm? Just in case?" her eyes filled with worry, and although he seemed alright, a battle like that could take a lot out of a cat.

Being obviously overwhelmed and damaged, the geese were quick to turn and tail and fled, their damaged wings flapping behind them to give them more speed.

Poppyshine dug her claws into the dirt, getting ready to leap at the birds again when a new pelt joined the battle. The voice that accompanied the pelt as the geese fled brought tears to Poppyshine’s eyes. “Hawkshriek-!” she gasped. Her claws retracted with the threat gone and she bounded up to him. She purred over and over as she rubbed her face against Hawkshriek’s. One of her children was home. She missed him so terribly. And now he was home… “Wait one moment sweetheart. I want to hear about where you’ve been and if you’re alright.”
She reluctantly pulled herself away from her son so she could turn back to the rest of her clan. She announced loudly, “RiverClan, the threat has left, but please remain vigilant for more. Assist the injured and do as Mallardstep requests. Brookstone, Darkpaw, and Fawneye to me, please.” She allowed Mallardstep to begin treating injured cats. With just a quick glance, it seemed only she and Brookstone were on that list, which she was grateful for. It looked like the newly-named apprentices were not even touched, thanks to Brookstone.
When the requested cats arrived, she meowed, “I want the three of you to go to patrol around camp. Go out far enough to spot if any other predators are daring to get close to RiverClan, but stay within earshot if we need you. Please also keep an eye out for Perchstar’s returning patrol.” She had a feeling that because Hawkshriek had returned, the other missing cats may be on their way too. She added, “Brookstone, don’t leave until you see Mallardstep. He’ll have herbs for you.”
With them dismissed, she looked back to Hawkshriek. “I’m so glad you’re home. Can you tell me where you were? It was Fourtrees, right? What was going on there?”
❖ Thefight was over as soon as Martenpaw got a good bite in. The goose freed itself from the young apprentice and tried to scramble off. Brookstone turned momentarily to see if Poppyshine's fight was almost over too. She prepared to leap at the second goose when she noticed that it was still attacking the others. However, a dark blur beat her to it and sliced at the goose, effectively rendering the fight won. She blinked a few times. Was that... Hawkshriek?? The furball managed to come home! Renewed hope flooded her. This meant that the others would be able to come back too! Andy, Spruce-ter, Rowan, Mink, Soot, Hare, Kite... She felt herself choke up but she pushed her feelings away at the call of the deputy. ღ
❖ Hername was specifically called alongside Fawneye's and Darkpaw's. The tabby warrior padded over to Poppyshine, eyes never leaving Hawkshriek's form. She wanted to say something but felt like now was not the time. She jolted to attention when the deputy began to explain their task. "Alright, got it. Ya can count on us." As she began to take a step to start heading to the entrance, she stopped when her name was mentioned again. Mallardstep? She wanted to outwardly pout and argue that she was fine but decided against it. Poppyshine needed them all in tip-top shape just in case and arguing would make it all much harder. Brook could tell that Poppy was itching to talk to Hawkshriek so she just nodded. She didn't want to take much of their time. However, before she left to meet the temporary medicine cat, the molly turned to address Hawkshriek. "Good ta have ya back, Hawk. It wasn't the same without ya... any of you... Let's catch up later, yeah?" With a wave of her tail and a playful wink, she turned around and made her way over to Mallardstep without waiting for a response, her signature grin plastered on her face. Oh, how she missed them all. It won't be for much longer now, though... and she couldn't wait! ღ

Darkpaw sighed with relief as the threat at last dissipated. He gave his pelt an experimental shake, happy to feel only a few scratches here and there. Nothing like what he could have received if Brookstone hadn't taken that blow from the goose for him.
Darkpaw felt another wave of relief as Fawneye approached him. She's okay, too, he thought, feeling a burst of pride as his mentor told him that she was proud of him. Darkpaw had no clue who this Hawkshriek cat was, but he'd certainly made a dramatic entrance, and Poppyshine seemed happy to see him.
"Who's that?" Darkpaw asked Fawneye, watching Poppyshine and the newcomer press their heads together.
