The weather was warm, the sun shining down upon Riverclan territory. Despite the pleasant weather everything seemed.. off. Maybe it had something to do with the patrol sent to the fourtrees. Maybe it had to do with the noise filling the territory. On top of this noise was the honk of agitated geese as they moved into the camp.
Two geese have stumbled into Riverclan camp, driven from their hiding spots by dogs that escaped from Fourtrees! You must defend your clanmates! Enemies are not able to be stunned or pinned!

Poppyshine was in charge of the camp while Perchstar and Stormdance went off to investigate the prophecy that StarClan provided them at the Gathering. Poppyshine was anxious about the outcome of whatever StarClan was trying to tell them. The last thing she had expected was for fresh encounters to occur at their camp.
When geese flew past the pool defenses around their camp, Poppyshine leapt to her feet. “RIVERCLAN! DEFEND THE CAMP!” she yowled. Her heart sank. They didn’t have many cats here to defend…She supposed it could be worse than a couple of geese who got scared into their camp, but she knew firsthand that riled up geese could be quite the danger as well. “Queens, keep the kits in the nurseries! Apprentices, your claws are to aid warriors.” Her head whipped around to look at their temporary medicine cat. “Mallardstep, please aid whoever will need it.”
With her orders given, Poppyshine did not hesitate to join the battle. She leapt at the nearest goose, claws outstretched and blood thundering in her ears.
Poppyshine used Jumping Strikes on Goose 1. She dealt 13 (10+3) damage and cost 7 SP.

Twistpool
Twistpool had not seen combat for many, many moons, unless you counted the outrageous scuffle between elders and apprentices at the gathering a few moons prior. He had not battled in a long time. And now there were blasted geese breaking into camp so shortly after they had gotten it situated after the flood. Well, he would not be sitting back and letting the youth take care of it. Certainly not with how few cats they had. Not even Perchstar and Stormdance were here. He grumbled under his breath and hauled to his paws.
“Alright you kits, git! You heard her!” he grumbled to the kits he had been lazily watching after. It was a curse that he was always responsible for these oversized scraps of fur. He grabbed Sunkit, lifting him up by his scruff and hauling him to the nursery as quickly as his bones could manage. He gave Larkkit and Rookkit small smacks with his paw as well, to keep them moving. He deposited them into the nursery and turned back. Before leaving entirely he snapped, “If I see either of you set one paw outside of this nursery, I’ll be having it out with you!”
He face forward again, fur bristling. If any goose came near the nursery, he’d tear them to shreds. He didn’t have the energy to keep up with the younger warriors of the camp, but he could at least ensure that their young did not get pecked to death.
Twistpool is keeping all kits in the nursery safe.
Larkkit
It was times like these that Larkkit painfully wished that he was an apprentice and could join in the fray. He did not appreciate being rushed along by this stupid old cat, nor did he appreciate being locked up with Sunkit. He pressed tightly against Rookkit’s side and his ears flattened as he peered past Twistpool to observe the ensuing fight. He did not think that geese were all that vicious from stories he had heard about the birds of their clan, but looking at them now, they were true beasts indeed.
❖ Forsome weird reason, Brookstone had been feeling nervous ever since Perch and Storm had gone off to investigate Fourtrees and whatever the prophesy was trying to show them. She was probably worried that they might run into danger along the way or once they got there—so it wasn't just a "weird" reason. She had to calm herself down; She had to trust that they could handle themselves... They'll be fine. Just in case, the tabby warrior had decided to stay inside the camp instead of heading out to do her daily hunting. It was a good thing too since two crazed geese came barreling into the camp. What in Starclan's name?? ღ
❖ Brooksnapped her head up as she heard the familiar honks of the birds she hated the most. She felt utterly gobsmacked but instantly recovered at Poppyshine's voice. She can reflect on how surprised she had been later. Right now, her clan needed defending! ღ
❖ Sheleaped right at the second goose at the same time Poppyshine took on the first. The goose went tumbling down due to her momentum. Now both feathered menaces were distracted. The rest of the clan had time to organize themselves and either defend or attack. "We got this Riverclan! Don't lose your heads and let's show these geese what we've got!" ღ

Sunkit had been impatiently weaving figure eights around Twistpool and then Rookkit and then back again, feeling restless and impatient for news that might carry word of his parents, but unable to dedicate that energy towards play like he usually might.
And then there was loud honking noises, and suddenly Twist was shouting and scooping him up before he even had the chance to make sense of the situation.”Twist--!” He squawked in offense as he was lifted off the ground by the scruff, legs dangling uselessly in the air. He hears Poppyshine and Brookstone’s warning cries and his heart beats rapidly in his chest.
He was dropped unceremoniously beside Rookkit and Larkkit. “Twistpool!” He started, taking a step forward, and then Twistpool snapped his final order.
Sunkit growled under his breath. Every instinct was telling him he should be doing something, his camp was being attacked! If only he was an apprentice, then he’d actually be allowed to help. But he respected Twistpool too much to disobey him, and even he knew he would be more hindrance than help. He huddles down next to Rookkit, staring out the entrance to the nursery and flexing and unflexing his claws.
He'd sooner eat crowfood than say it, but being stuck here, waiting helplessly, when he could hear and see his clanmates fighting terrified him. His fur puffed even as he scowled to hide his fear.
The young tom sat anxiously by the apprentice's den. His mentor hadn't asked him to do any tasks yet today, all he could do was wonder what the patrol was up to. They left in such a hurry, clearly something was wrong even if he didn't quite get what. Some prophecy... hopefully it wouldn't be difficult for them, he didn't want them hurt chasing down whatever Starclan was trying to tell them.
Martenpaw had his tail wrapped around his large white paws, the tail tip flicking back and forth with until honking caught his ears. His head snapped up, his eyes widening as two massive birds invaded their camp, much larger than those in the fresh-kill pile or the docile ducks he usually found in the rivers. They were large and angry, the warriors around him yelling and yowling as they launched themselves into action. Martenpaw only knew the basics, what was he supposed to do?! The dark brown tom's thick coat bristled in panic, his claws digging into the soft ground of camp, frozen for a few seconds before he managed to will his limbs to move.
Bright blue eyes caught the sight of Brookstone barreling into one of the birds. Martenpaw followed suit, leaping to grab hold of the large water fowl. His teeth sunk past feather and flesh, digging right where its strange long neck met the rest of its body. At the same time, his claws hooked and tore where he could find a clawhold, inexperienced and desperate, but damaging all the same.
Martenpaw used Snap and Desperate Blows, costing a collective 14 SP (7+7) and dealing 10 damage (6+4)!

Darkpaw jolted upright as the peaceful air of the RiverClan camp was suddenly bombarded with the scent of...geese?Two geese, to be exact, their white wings flapping violently as they hissed and honked at the surrounding cats.
Immediately, the camp was thick with the growing battle. Darkpaw sprang to his paws, racing over towards the closest group of cats that were ganging up on one of the geese. He couldn't see Fawneye. Or Toadpaw, he thought with growing concern.
Darkpaw shook the thought away as he lunged towards a goose, claws outstretched to meet its feathers while Martenpaw clung to its back. This is my life now, some vague part of him thought. Defending RiverClan against a pair of insane geese.
Darkpaw used Front Paw Strike on Goose #2, dealing 6 damage and costing 7 stamina!
Geese. What in Starclan's name had possessed them to attack camp, of all places? Not that the reason really mattered, but the birds couldn't think they could just waltz in and made a new nesting spot out of Riverclan's camp, right? One goose was already occupied by a pawful of cats, but Poppyshine fought alone for the moment. Not for much longer, as the pale-furred tom darted forward. Flamegaze hissed at the oversized bird, striking out with unsheathed claws.
Flamegaze used Front Paw Strike on Goose #1 for -7 sp, dealing -8 damage.
The Geese weren't expecting this at all, to suddenly be attacked so swiftly not only by dogs, but by cats as well? It seemed like they couldn't catch a break. Despite the swift attacks the geese were quick to respond as well.
Goose #1 used Wing Bluff on Poppyshine dealing 5 damage, -10 SP
Goose #2 used Beaked Thrust on Darkpaw dealing 15 damage, -15 SP

❖ Brookstonefelt better as more and more of her clanmates joined the fight. She could tell that slowly but surely, the geese were starting to weaken. They could do this! They just needed to push and overwhelm the birds. ღ
❖ Thestriped warrior stiffened when she noticed the goose that she'd been fighting started to ignore her and was now heading right for Darkpaw. She hissed furiously and leaped ahead, blocking its path and keeping Darkpaw safely behind her. She grunted as she felt the sharp, sudden pain from the blow dealt by the goose. She huffed and shook her head, trying to shake away the dizziness she felt. It had been a harsh hit that would've nearly knocked out the young apprentice. Just thinking about what could've happened had she not blocked its way in time made her blood boil. "Eyes on me Feather-head!" she snarled as she kept up her shielding, this time trying to keep it away from all the apprentices with her. ღ
《❥Brookstone used [Blocking Leap] for Darkpaw! It dealt her the previous -15 damage instead. It cost her -5 [SP]. All previous "damage" to Darkpaw has been disregarded!
Fawneye had been cleaning up camp, her paws furiously pushing reeds into the walls of the elders den, winds and snow were pushing and pulling at the dens, and with missing warriors continuously maintaining the integrity of the dens was more important than ever. Her ears swiveled as she heard a commotion and the ragdoll dropped the reeds within her jaws as her eyes took in the scene. Her ears flattened back as she rushed forward. Her eyes scanned the crowd and quickly saw her apprentice working hard next to their clanmates and a rush of pride swelled in her heart. She had to remember to let him know how proud she was of him. Fawneye shook her head and launched her attack on the closest goose to her. Sharp claws tore into its soft feathers, and she shot a smile to Flamegaze and Poppyshine. They would get through this.

Martenpaw yelped when Brookstone got struck by the goose, the distraught noise muffled by a mouthful of feathers. He hated this. He hated this so much. Cats were getting hurt, his claws felt sticky blood, he could taste it in his mouth. The young tom screwed his eyes shut as his claws raked deeper, leaving behind torn feathers and skin in his wake. The birds were capable of flight; why did they have to stop here when there were plenty of water elsewhere for them to stay in? Surely they didn't want to be hurt either, right? He tried his best not to focus on the discomfort and instead wound the waterfowl enough that it would flee.
Martenpaw used Front Paw Strike, costing 7 SP and dealing 6 damage!

Poppyshine caught the eyes of both Flamegaze and Fawneye. She gave them both a nod of appreciation. Her attention was momentarily split to watching the other goose bear down onto one of their apprentices, which is what allowed the other goose to clip into her, but thankfully Brookstone was able to shield Darkpaw from damage. Poppyshine let out a breath of relief and her full attention returned back to the enraged goose. She would not allow this beast to continue damaging their home.
She raised up onto her hind legs, momentarily as tall as the goose, and slammed her paws down onto the bird’s head which brought it crashing into the ground. Her tail lashed with furious satisfaction at seeing it struck down.
Poppyshine used Upright Lock, dealing 12 damage and costing 10 SP.
Darkpaw's eyes widened in fear as Brookstone took the hit that the goose had clearly aimed for him. His clanmate was still blocking him and the other apprentices from the goose, but Darkpaw wasn't about to let her get horribly injured for them all. I can take it! the RiverClan apprentice thought stubbornly.
He skirted out from behind her, following Martenpaw to the side as he lashed at the goose again. Darkpaw followed suite and lashed at the goose's other side while it was still focused primarily on Brookstone.
Darkpaw used Front Paw Strike, dealing 6 damage and costing him -7 stamina!
❖ Shegrunted when the feathered menace landed another blow on her. She hissed irritably and stood up on her hind legs. Before it could retract its dumb little head, she slammed her paws down upon it with no mercy. Stupid goose! "Howdya like that??" she hissed with a satisfied gleam in her eyes. She could tell that it was almost defeated. She glanced over to the other goose and noticed that it was almost over for that one too. Just a little more! ღ
