Expansive tree branches swayed overhead, the leaves rustling and, occasionally, drifted down from above to settle on the ground. With a gentle smile, Hemlockfox reached out with a paw to bat almost playfully at one of the leaves. He missed the forest, but here, on the edge of WindClan's territory, he could at least get a little taste of what life used to be like. Still, even out here, he had a job to do. Turning to the volunteers for today's hunt, Hemlockfox pasted on a serious expression. Today would be dangerous and maybe a little frightening to some, but he wasn't worried. He had a foolproof plan that, more likely than not, would ensure everyone's saftey!
At least...if the storm brewing overhead every decided to break. Well, that could wait. He should probably explain the plan to his clanmates. "Alright everyone. Now that we're here, let me explain." With a flick of his tail, Hemlockfox turned his gaze to a massive bee's nest nestled in a great, hollow tree. It was just about shoulder-height, but packed to the brim with angry, stinger-clad bees. "We're going to collect some honey today. A single bee-sting on its own isn't dangerous, but this nest probably has thousands and thousands of bees, so we need to be careful." Just then, a small droplet of rain whizzed past the medicine cat's whiskers. Feathers! He'd only have a few more moments before the storm came!
"Now, it's about to rain. Hard. Just be careful and don't get too close to the nest for too long. Once the rain comes, the bees won't be able to fly, so let's make this count!" Not a moment after the words left his mouth, the sky opened up and lightning split the horizon. "Watch!" Hemlockfox raced towards the nest, blue eyes fixed on the wet, waxy nest, and raised an unsheathed paw. Bees clung to the honeycomb in clusters, their fuzzy bodies and tiny wings shiny and wet from the sudden onslaught of rain. He couldn't hesitate! He had to be fast!
His claws sank into the thick, sticky material and Hemlockfox wrenched himself backwards, cracking open the nest. A small chunk of honeycomb flew to the side, and he danced away, fur plastered to his sides as the bees vibrated angrily. Stars, that'd certainly gotten them riled up. With an energized grin, the seal point tom turned to his patrol mates and nodded towards the nest. "Go on! It's open now, give it a try!"
Hemlockfox has collected a small piece of honeycomb! Dice Rolls are as follows: 1-2: No honey gathered, or your cat got a bee sting :( 3-4: Just a small piece of honeycomb is gathered 5: A medium sized piece of honeycomb is gathered 6: A large piece of honeycomb is gathered!

OATFLUFF
Are you going to age with grace?
Oatfluff was one to volunteer for every patrol, and today was no different - especially since it gave him a chance to spend more time with Hemlockfox. The gruff tom had proved a tough nut to crack, but Oatfluff knew he could get through to him eventually. Hopefully, since he'd had a bit of time to process the move from SkyClan to WindClan, he wouldn't be quite so grumpy. Just the normal amount.
Dark clouds swirled angrily overhead, and Oatfluff's ears and pelt pricked as he watched the trees sway rather dramatically in the wind. The branches creaked under the weight of the wind, and each shake brought down more and more leaves. Were they supposed to do that? Ah - they were approaching leaffall, he supposed. The warrior watched with an almost fond expression as Hemlockfox batted at the falling leaves, then straightened up and cleared his throat as the tom turned back to the group. I didn't see anything.
He followed Hemlockfox's gaze to the bee's nest. He'd never reallly... encountered bees before, but he knew of their sting. Well, if Hemlockfox wasn't afraid - and if he'd be there to patch him up in case of a sting - then Oatfluff didn't see any reason to be afraid., either. What was a little sting? He could handle it, if they could even reach him under all his fur.
Finally, the clouds broke, and the medicine cat surged forward. Oatfluff fluffed his fur out against the onslaught of rain and watched for a moment, then nodded to himself. Easy enough. The nest vibrated in anger, a dull buzz beginning to grow, but no bees emerged. Ha. They couldn't fly in all this rain - how had Hemlockfox known that? Perhaps his seasons in the forest had served him well.
At the tom's signal, Oatfluff darted forward, his fluffy brown pelt little more than a blur as he leapt toward the hive. He stretched toward the nest as lightning split the sky, and thunder shook the ground once more. Aha! He tore a small piece of honeycomb away, relishing the feel of it between his claws. "Blegh. Sticky." He set it down by Hemlockfox's piece, then turned to the burly tom almost thoughtfully. Maybe some things were best left unsaid, but Oatfluff couldn't help himself. "Y'know, it's good to see you smile." His words were sincere, but he felt himself cringe internally. Who said something like that? Especially on a big patrol like this? "I mean, uh, come on guys, you should try it! - What do you use honey for, anyway?"

Rapidfire was glad she caught this patrol it was about time her and Hemlockfox got to know each other better, they should meet more often as med cat and deputy she supposed and quietly made a note to herself that she should work on that.
She couldnt help but to keep glancing up at what seemed to be storm clouds a gathering, she listened to the medicine cats explanation and nodded glancing at the nest of active bees. Was this such a good idea? She hadnt the faintest idea about herbs and figured she should let him lead this, this was his domain not hers and he would know what and how to get this honey!
Her friend Oatfluff was here and he seemed eager to go, she was very grateful to have him along.
She was not worried, it was seeming simple enough just a quick in and out.
She watched Oatfluff get a peice freed and he didnt get stung either! She purred nodding, alright her turn she could do this!
Charging head onto her target she leapt at it wanting to get a piece of the honey that the medicine den would need.
It all went wrong very fast, the insects were not the best at flying in the rain but they were rallying at their home being smashed up. The ones that were still dry were on her quickly and stung at her. She couldnt get any honey at all and was full of bee stings by the time she got back.
The area around all the stings hurt a bit but she was mainly upset that she hadnt gotten any amount of honey to help for the upcoming fall season when greencough was more active.

Collecting honey... Leopardwind watched Hemlockfox demonstrate how to break off a part of the hive, followed by Oatfluff and Rapidfire both giving it a try. The black warrior couldn't help but wince when his former mentor returned with several bee stings... ah, that would probably be the same fate that would greet him should he give it a try, right? But he wouldn't back out before he even tried it. Leopardwind prepared himself, taking a deep breath before rushing in, praying to StarClan the bees wouldn't leave him a mess of bee stings.
So, naturally, he was stung by half a dozen bees before he managed to get away, empty-pawed and several dead bees stuck in his claws. Leopardwind returned to the patrol, ears pinned down as he shook out the remaining bugs in his fur. He'd have to try again, that was for sure. At least he wasn't the only one here to be covered in bee stings.

Cloudjumper's eyes drifted to the beehive as Hemlockfox explained the plan. This was not at all what she'd expected when she'd vonlunteered for this patrol, but she would do anything that was needed to help Windclan.
The first drops of rain began to fall, and Hemlockfox was racing toward the nest, breaking it open and then tumbling away from it as the skies opened up above. Oatfluff and Rapidfire were quick to try, and Cloudjumper too grimaced at the bee stings. "...This is insanity." Cloudjumper muttered to Leopardwind, though her eyes shone with anticipation. Sure the bees were dangerous, but she was nothing if not determined. He had tried first, and she found herself cringing as her friend broke away with nothing but bee stings to show for it. That had to hurt!
With a deep breath, the calico darted forward next. She swiped a paw at the hive, managing to get a small piece of honey stuck to her paw before darting away. The bees were angry, if the loud buzzing was any indication, and the warrior let out a hiss as something sharp touched her ear. "Foxdung!" But she'd made it away from the hive with more success than poor Rapidfire and Leopardwind, at least.

FALCONPAW
Gonna make a heartthrob out of me...
Falconpaw was a little uncertain about the patrol he was on now. It seemed like there were more than enough cats around to accompany their surly medicine cat, so he didn’t see why he had to be one of the many in attendance. Besides… the sky was brewing darkly, clearly upset with an oncoming storm. He didn’t want to be caught out in the middle of their territory when it broke. Even though camp was still open, at least he’d be able to shelter between the bodies of his Clanmates there. But he took solace in the rare experience of getting to see trees, towering and creaking, and the fact that the gathering storm made the air a tolerable temperature for the first time all season.
It wasn’t long before the rain came, halfway through Hemlockfox’s instructions. The large tom hurried out the rest of his words and then bolted for the hive, clawing it open and gathering some of the honeycomb on his claws. And then they were all charging in after him. Rapidfire and Leopardwind each got nipped by the bees, even in their waterlogged state. Falconpaw couldn’t help but snicker at his brother a little bit.
”Don’t worry, Leo, I’ve got these bees covered,” he called cheekily before making his own mad dash for the hive. He struck a paw out at it when he was close, and the waxy structure cracked under his blow. A large split ran through it and when Falconpaw wrenched his claws back, it fractured as a large piece of honeycomb came loose with his paw. A whooping laugh left him as he wheeled away from the hive before the bees could move to antagonize him. "Hey, I did it! Told ya, Leo. Hey, Hemlockfox, look at this!"

At first, Viperpaw had been quite happy to be on this patrol. She was free of Auburnrain and Creamlily for once, and even better the patrol was composed of cats she actually liked. That excitement quickly faded when Hemlockfox explained the purpose of their patrol. tThen the sky split open and thunder growled over ahead. Viper did not bother to conceal the scowl that graced her features. Her tail lashed, but she still padded closer to watch the medicine cat work. It didn’t look too hard, but just to be safe she’d let everyone else try before her.
Oatfluff was first, and he was successful. The golden molly smiled, so it was as easy as she thought. However, her face quickly turned to one of disgust at his words. ”Gross, Oatfluff. The honey we’re gathering is suppose to be sickly sweet not you and the words that come out of your mouth.” Though as quick as she snapped she was back to watching her patrolmates take their turn. Rapidfire went next and made a fool of herself, which earned a snort of laughter from the apprentice. Leopardwind had the same luck, but he at least earned a sympathetic look. Cloudjumper was luckier than both, but she didn’t escape unscathed. Viperpaw’s tail flicked, but luckily for the she-cat she had a neutral opinion of her. Falconpaw, of course, earned himself the biggest piece so far. ”not bad.” she commented.
Now, Viperpaw was fairly certain on what worked and what didn’t and with a smirk she stood up, loudly proclaiming ”My turn!” Full of confidence, that may or may not be entirely misplaced, she darted forward towards the hive. Everyone who had hesitated had gotten stung, and so with the assuredness that she would be okay the molly struck the hive, creating another large fracture. The rain made it difficult to see, so she had to trust her instincts as she stuck a single paw into the structure. She wriggled it around for several seconds, and at the moment she heard the buzzing intensify just that fraction more, she retreated victorious. Viperpaw was not a fan at all of the feel of honey on her perfect fur, but she was a fan of being the best. With a giddy smirk she trotted to Falconpaw’s side ”I think mine might be bigger.” she teased, flashing her teeth.

Weevilpaw slowly followed behind the patrol. A lot of her clanmates had decided to follow Hemlockfox out and she too wanted to see what he was teaching them. Her ears remained flat against her head as they walked under the dark clouds.
As the medicine cat started talking there was a loud rumble above. Weevilpaw's amber eyes lifted towards the sky and a drop of rain landed on her nose. She was about to ask if now was a good time to be away from camp when a bright light burst through the sky quickly disappeared.
The apprentice stumbled backwards in a fit of fear. All her clanmates were quick to follow Hemlockfox's instructions and so she followed. 'The quicker I do this the quicker we get back to camp!' She thought as her feet carried her, not so gracefully, towards the nest.
Her amber eyes locked onto her target and she struck out with her paw. Weevilpaw hit the nest harder than she anticipated and it took her a few moments to pull the large clump of honeycomb out. Her back legs wobbled under her as she pulled. Bees started crawling up her leg but she pulled the comb out before they stung.
"I got it!" She chirped as a bee planted it's stinger right into Weevilpaw's nose.
