Cloudjumper stuck close to Leopardwind as they made their way back to camp with Amber. The sooner they got away from the thunderpath, the better, and it was a relief to see the camp come into view at last. It was more of a relief to duck through the gorse tunnel, though that relief wasn't without a sort of nervous trepidation, too. She didn't know how their clanmates would react to the outsider kit, but Cloudjumper knew they couldn't have just left Amber there, either.
The kit was set down onto the sandy floor of the camp, and Cloudjumper called out when she caught sight of a familiar marbled pelt. "Tigerstar! Hemlockfox!" She mewed, "We found a kit abandoned near the thunderpath. Young too, hardly old enough to be out of a nursery." From her tone it was clear that the calico warrior would not have left Amber alone, no sign of parents or not.
Young Amber looked around, a little bit sky as she sorta folded into herself, making herself look just that little bit smaller. There was too many cats, she was a little overwhelmed. She's never seen this many before! Didn't Mama tell her to not talk to stranger cats?? But she was lost... Oh goodness. Well, at least they were friendly! It would be okay! She hoped. She missed her mama. She did rather attentively look for whoever these cats were, not really sure what she was looking for but making an effort anyways. discord: DevilKitten | timezone: US Central | code (c) kieerand tessisamess
Leopardwind was right beside Cloudjumper, his whiskers twitching as the calico called for the leader and medicine cat. Father wouldn't think too poorly of him for dragging this twoleg-reject of a kit back to Camp, right? No, he'd just have to explain himself; he hadn't done anything wrong, and surely Father would understand. His ear flicked at his patrolmate's tone. Had she grown so attached to the kit already? But of course, the Warrior Code specifically stated that no warrior could neglect a kit, regardless of its origins. Cloudjumper sure was a dedicated warrior.
The black tom dipped his head in greeting to Tigerstar. "Father, I'm willing to lead a search patrol out. I still remember where we found the kit, and we need all the leads we can get," He offered immediately, before adding rather sheepishly with a dip of his head, "If you wish, of course." His golden gaze looked across the Camp, calculating, despite not having received permission from Tigerstar, which of the present warriors would prove to be of any use. He wouldn't pick any of the best warriors, of course. There was no point in wasting resources on this pathetic bundle of fur.
Tawnykit peered from the nursery upon hearing the commotion. He recognized the sound of Cloudjumper's voice calling for the warriors... It was strange, do warriors usually shout like that? But he was quickly caught off guard when he finally spotted the unfamiliar kit, huddled. The tortoiseshell hadn't seen her around. Wow, this situation sure is weird!
He tried to creep a bit closer to them without drawing attention to himself, hoping to perhaps hear what they were chattering about. The kit just overheard a faint 'If you wish, of course.' coming from Leopardwind and he huffed in disappointment. He really wanted to stay low... but his curiosity!! It was gnawing at him like fleas.
The tom took a deep breath before he ran towards the group with newly found energy, his tail high and a confident smirk wide on his face. "Hiya! Newcomer!" He meowed and gave Amberkit a playful bow. She didn't smell like a windclaner, she had an awful stench which made him back away for a moment with wide eyes maybe it was from where she came from? His gaze switched to the warriors... He had to admit he was a bit terrified of Leopardwind but he didn't let it show. "She doesn't smell like one of us." The kit started, meowing up at the tall figures before him and Amberkit. Tawnykit couldn't make sense on why an outsider kit would be at camp... don't outsider mothers take care of them? His ears perked up as he suddenly got a concept "Is she an intruder?!" He hissed, his fur bristling as he looked at the she-kit

Hemlockfox lifted his head, round ears rotating at the sound of pawsteps approaching the camp. A patrol returning, no doubt. With a dismissive flick of his ear, the medicine cat dipped his head to the ground once more to sort through some herbs. However, the returning cats clearly had something else in mind. His name, alongside Tigerstar's was called, and he got to his paws with a heavy sigh. Great. This was bound to be fun. Two cats, Cloudjumper and Leopardwind, bustled into the camp, a small scrap of fur clutched between the she-cat's jaws, and he frowned.
A kit, huh? How thrilling. Hemlockfox padded towards the center of the growing crowd, his blue eyes bored, and pushed his way past curious kits and nosy apprentices to stop in front of the strange kit. Cloudjumper seemed happy to protect the kit from any cats complaining of another mouth to feed and, frankly, Hemlockfox couldn't care less. More likely than anything else, they'd find the kit's mother and send her on her merry way. The little thing looked pretty taken aback, though, and he glanced at Tawnykit almost dissaprovingly. "Cool it."
"She's just lost. We're gonna keep an eye on her until we find her parents." Then, to the little she-kit, he smiled in what could almost be considered a comforting way. "How're you doing, kit? Are you okay? Hurt anywhere?" Just by glancing her over, though, it didn't look as though she was ill or injured. Good. She would be less of a drain on his herbs, at least.

After the call of his name the tall striped tom made his way to the incoming patrol with the kit. Green eyes looked over the small form, before turning to address the gathered cats. "Take whoever you wish Leopardwind, look for any leads." They didn't need to lose a trail, especially if this kit belonged to another clan.
After addressing his son, he looked to the others. "We will get her settled for now, and wait for results. Cloudjumper you were one of the ones to find her, so you will help care for her run the mean time. Assist Hemlockfox with whatever he might need for this one."
Tigerstar arrived, and Cloudjumper dipped her head to the leader. Leopardwind was to lead a patrol to search for answers, and Cloudjumper was... skeptical that they would find anything. Best not to show that, however. In the meantime, little Amber would be allowed to stay.
And she was going to help care for her. Oh stars, she didn't know the first thing about caring for kits... What had she gotten herself into?
"Yes, Tigerstar." She added with a wry smile. She turned toward Amber and Hemlockfox then, who was already talking with the little kit - and had told off Tawnykit as well. "Thank you, Hemlockfox. Do you need anything?" She could tell the medicine cat wasn't thrilled, but that seemed to just be his default state so she wasn't worried. "Amber, this is Hemlockfox. He's our medicine cat - helps us all stay healthy, basically. He's a bit grumpy but he's a good cat." The lost kit certainly looked rather overwhelmed, having half the clan descend on you upon your arrival would do that, Cloudjumper supposed.
"And uh, have you seen Nectarflower, by any chance? I figured I would get Amber set up in the nursery, if that's alright with you? And figured she's probably the best one to talk to." Meaning, her mother would know what to do with a kit, because Cloudjumper certainly didn't. Not that she would admit that out loud.

Hemlockfox and Tigerstar arrived swiftly, with the latter quick to agree to his proposal. Leopardwind dipped his head in acknowledgement, and raised his head to survey the Camp. The rogue kit would be fine under Cloudjumper's assistance, and she'd make sure the SkyClanner didn't do anything funny to Amber. Besides, his patrolmate was already asking for Nectarflower. Good call. The queen would know how to comfort any kit, as he vividly remembered from his days in the nursery. There must have been at least 20 kits in the nursery then, and with the help of Lavendercloud, Brightripple and the other queens they had managed to keep all of them in check.
"Ashencreek(NPC), Tulipfall(NPC), come with me," He decided swiftly, then turned and made for the Camp entrance, the two warriors falling in behind him. He had a feeling this would be a fruitless patrol, but they had to at least try, right?
Hemlockfox looked up from the small she-kit to level an appraising gaze on Cloudjumper. Well, he was to have a little assistant. How...nice. As long as she didn't get underpaw, that is. Regardless, Tigerstar had made his decision, so it really wasn't up to him anymore. "Thank you, Tigerstar." The words came out a little gruffer than he'd intended, but that was just because he truly wasn't that thrilled with this whole mess. A kit was a big responsibility for a young warrior like Cloudjumper. He just hoped she wasn't planning to bombard him with questions or fretful bouts over the kit's health. Unfortunately, many new guardians did.
Hm. He wasn't really a fan of Cloudjumper's comment, either. He'd show her grumpy. "No, I'll be quite alright without your help.Just keep her, Amber, out of my stores and we'll all be fine." As for her other question, he hadn't the slightest clue. Why would he know where Nectarflower was anyway? He was glad to be rid of her the moment she was healthy enough to get around on her own. "No idea. If I had to guess, she's in the nursery, like always."
This was good, though. If Cloudjumper was going to look for Nectarflower, it was likely for her help. Which, ultimately, meant less for him to worry himself with. That aside, he was certain he wouldn't be of any use unless he was to patch up a sprained paw or tend to a sniffle. Kits had never and, most likely, never would be in his area of expertise.
