Subject: Gorsekit's Apprentice Ceremony Sat 1 Jun 2024 - 7:29
The routine of almost daily apprentice ceremonies was filling Rapidfire's heart with joy and hope. After all their clan had lost it was a reminder that they would survive and continue. To get to see all the young kits coming of age to begin learning all the skills needed in life was something she hoped she would get to remember even in her eldered days.
Shaking away the daydreams as she hopped back up to the tallrock she announced the very familiar call now again: "Everyone, please gather around for a clan meeting"

Run Rabbit, Run
How many kits were going to be made apprentices? The amount of ceremonies was starting to annoy Creampaw, honestly. At least when she was a kit she hadn't been forced to attend every single one of these. With a huge eyeroll and an overly dramatic sigh that got quite a few looks from cats around her, she flopped down, paws splayed out as if attending the ceremony were a special form of torture.
Gold is in our blood
This would be one of his littermates' ceremonies, surely. Leopardpaw tried to ignore the past few ceremonies-- with several kits being made apprentices before some of his own siblings-- and instead focused on the new one. It was long overdue, so surely, this would be one of their ceremonies... right?

Rapidfire's call, just like Tigerstar's call, would always result in anyone sticking around in camp to gather for some ceremony, or something else stupid. Gorsekit didn't really care what any of the meetings were about. That crowd that they always conjured up seemed so suffocating, it was easier to go off and play with the pill bugs that loved to roll around the nursery. Today was no different. While the rest of her clan gathered by the Tallrock, Gorsekit lingered beside the nursery, rolling tiny bugs between her paws and occasionally letting out excited yelps anytime one of the bugs unraveled for her.

Okay! Today would be the day! At least she hoped it was. A lot of her siblings were overdue for a ceremony, and Quickpaw was getting a bit anxious. She wasn't sure how much more suspense she could take before she literally ran up to the deputy to ask her about their ceremonies—ack! No! Bad Quickpaw! Stop being such a downer! Even if it wasn't one of her siblings' ceremonies, she still had some new friends to make.
The young molly's anxious demeanor dissipated almost instantly. She felt a lot better and calmer now. She'd be happy for whoever this ceremony was for!
Hopefully her clanmates were not getting tired of these, she never did - each ceremony to her was a hope that after all she lost maybe things could be okay.
"Gorsekit you have become old enough to be an apprentice, from this day forth you will be called Gorsepaw. Your mentor will be Kestrelchirp" It made sense to her at least to give the experienced warrior another apprntice since all the clan had apprentices now

Nectarflower was practically vibrating with excitement, a knowing smile on her face as Rapidfire called for the clan to gather. Today, the first of her and Kestrelchirp's litter would be moving into the apprentice's den. It would be a bittersweet moment...for her, anyway, but she was determined to put on a brave face and be excited for her little ones! Eyes never straying far from Gorsekit, Nectarflower joined the rest of her clanmates in the center of the camp, tail twitching as the deputy began. She barely contained her cheering long enough for the deputy to finish and, finally, got to her paws and limped towards her newly apprenticed daughter.
"Congratulations dear!" She licked her kit's cheek softly before leaning back, eyes bright. There was a small part of her, though, that ached knowing it was time for her kits to leave her. Hopefully, they would find the time to visit her - tucked away in the nursery. But Nectarflower shook the thought away. "And to think Kestrelchirp will be your mentor!" Right, Gorepaw's own father! How exciting! "Your dad will take good care of you sweetheart - you'll do great."
