As his visits to the medicine cat's den lessened, Sootstorm took to taking walks by himself to make up for the peace that his short stay in the medicine cat den had provided him. It comforted him, he realised, to be away from the camo for a short while, even just a few moments by himself was enough for him to gather his thoughts and face his Clan once more. He loved them all, but slowly he was learning to love himself too. As he walked along paths that were just clearing out from the growth spurts of grass from when they were gone, he let his mind drift away, never lingering on any one thought for a moment too long. Eventually, he found himself by the RiverClan border, and slowed down his pace to stop just before the scent line. Since he was here, he might as well check the scent line... his ear flicked as he heard the rustle of undergrowth from the otherside. Green eyes blinked at the opposite end of the border as he straightened up. Was there a border patrol coming? He was suddenly concious of the fact that he had no warriors beside him.

Poppyshine led a patrol with a couple of warriors as they improved the border. Things were settling, becoming less…overwhelming, with each passing day. It was nice. Poppyshine felt like the warmth of the sun was a little easier to feel. Her heart still weighed heavily with worries, but time was easing those pains ever so slightly with each day.
While out on the patrol, she spotted a familiar face across the scent line. Her ears perked up at the sight of a fellow deputy. “Sootstorm, hello,” she called with a small smile. She told her patrol to go on ahead and she would catch up in a minute. She didn’t know if the deputy was here by chance or if he wanted to discuss something, but she did not want him to feel like a party was about to storm him at the border. She settled down a couple paces from Sootstorm as the other warriors continued on not far. “How are you doing? How’s WindClan?”

Amongst the patrol that appeared in the distance was the unmistakanable dappled coat of Poppyshine, RiverClan's deputy. Luckily, she sent her patrol along their way, and only she approached him, with a smile as she always did. "Poppyshine," Sootstorm greeted, dipping his head briefly to the calico. His ear flicked in embarassment as she asked how he was doing. She must think that there was a purpose for him being at the border. "I'm doing fine, just took a walk and ended up here," He answered, figuring he'd might as well explain why he was so close to the border then leave the deputy waiting for the non-existance message he was passing her. "WindClan's doing fine, though we have had a few warriors go missing recently. Tallshadow, Quickfrost and Sleepyhollow have gone missing... we're not sure what happened to them, but you might want to increase your border patrols just in case whatever's chasing down our warriors come after RiverClan as well." It wouldn't be rude to advise another Caln's deputy to increase their patrols, right? It was done with good intentions, and it may actually prove useful... though he hoped that would not be the case. "How are you doing?" He added, gaze flickering briefly over the mass of scars that adorned the she-cat's coat. The life of a warrior was harsh, but it seems as if her scars had doubled in the past few moons. His brow scrunched up in concern; she was fine, wasn't she?
