Cedarstalk lifted his head, tongue still sticking out from thoroughly grooming his pelt. He licked his jaws as he got up and trotted over to Firefly, happy to join her impromptu hunting patrol. "I'll come along if you don't mind." Amber eyes examined the older warrior, curious. She had never openly offered to hunt with any of them - not that he'd noticed anyway. Whatever the reason, he was happy to get to know another of his clanmates beyond the occasional 'hello'.

If he remembered correctly, Firefly was Shrewpaw's mentor, so this was long overdue anyway. Pleased with this decision, Cedarstalk turned to look around, wondering if any of their other clanmates would join them. The clearing was pretty full, so hopefully there wouldn't be too much interest in their patrol.

He purred at the sight of Copperlark joining them and, together, the three cats trekked out into the forest, on the alert for prey. Copperlark suddenly hared off after the scent of a rabbit. The scent of blood rose up from the direction she'd run off in and Cedarstalk's tail lifted with pride at her skill.

Then, the scent of squirrel drifted down from a nearby tree, catching Cedarstalk's attention. He dropped into a crouch and stealthily crept toward the squirrel, ears flattened and tail hovering just over the ground. Once he was certain he was close enough, the tom burst forward, claws outstretched.

Suddenly, a bird he hadn't noticed let out a trill of alarm and without pausing to look around, the squirrel surged up the nearest tree with a chitter of fear. Cedarstalk skidded to a halt and growled before glaring up at the bird. "Traitor."

Cedarstalk nodded in appreciation, grateful for Firefly's gruff yet somewhat comforting words. He watched as the she-cat turned away and eventually caught a bird. Hopefully, he would be able to catch something soon enough so he wouldn't go back to the clan empty-pawed.

Then, the sound of a nearby struggle caught Cedarstalk's attention and he ran around the nearest tree, eyes searching frantically for Copperlark. She was over here somewhere, what had happened? He'd only had his back turned for a few moments! Then, he saw it. Copperlark was latched onto the red pelt of a fox, her claws deep in its skin. She looked okay right now, but that could change in an instant.

"Firefly! There's a fox!"

A growl burst from the red tom's throat, and he raced toward the fight, teeth bared, and claws unsheathed before throwing himself at the fox, heedless of his own safety. Copperlark was all that mattered. If he sat by and allowed this mangy fox to harm her, he would never forgive himself. So, as he came up on the fox, Cedarstalk opened his jaws and clamped down on the fox's tail - hard.

Determined, he used all of his body strength to yank the fox back by its bushy tail, a dark thrum of satisfaction running through his body as the fox stumbled, seeming to be shocked by his sudden appearance.

Cedarstalk used Tail Yank on the fox, dealing 8 HP at the cost of 15 SP.
The fox is stunned for 1 turn.
