It's A Little Kiddo {Open after the kit is born}

Littlebrook lay just outside the nursery, getting some fresh air, while eating a lizard. She hated being cooped up in the nursery all day, and she hated not being able to hunt and help give to her clan. She had definitely not planned this, but nonetheless, she was excited. Her and Mudfoot were having kits. She couldn't believe how far their relationship had gotten in the past moons, and she couldn't be happier with where they were. Sighing, half content and half restless, she slowly got to her paws and made her way back to her nest. Even just that short walk had her breathing heavy and she gratefully sunk down into her comfy nest. Mudfoot had taken great care of her while she was stuck in the nursery, and everyday that he poked his head in, her annoyance and restlessness was forgotten. Now, she felt a somewhat familiar pain go through her, and boy did it hurt. Gritting her teeth, she called for her mate and the medicine cat.

"Mudfoot! Hon-"

She called before stopping midbreath as she remembered. Honeydrop was gone. Pushing back the wave of grief and pain that washed over her, she called for Roaringblaze.

"Roaringblaze!"

Roaringblaze had been sorting through the meager supply of herbs he had left when a yowl from Littlebrook physically compelled his muscles to propel him onto his paws to rush to the nursery with as many herbs he could stuff into his jaw for the pregnant she-cat. He slipped into the nursery with quick strides, glanced at her to quickly assess her condition, and immediately plopped down his herbs to get started. One look at her and it was clear she was going into labor.

"Hey Littlebrook I'm here," he soothed with a reassuring smile. "You're going to be just fine, I'll make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible." He picked up a stick from his supplies he brought over and gave it to her to bite on. "Bite this- it'll help the pain. Don't be afraid to break it if you need to."

Having just arrived back at camp from a hunting patrol, Mudfoot's head shot up at the sound of his mate's voice. Not long after her voice sounded throughout the camp, he watched as Roaringblaze slipped into the nursery. Somewhat panicking that something might have been wrong, the warrior dropped his prey at the pile and raced to the den, skidding to a halt at the entrance.

Trying to calm himself down and reassure himself that everything was alright with his mate, he made his way into the nursery to see the medicine cat hovering over Littlebrook. Relieved to see that everything seemed to be normal, he tiptoed his way over to her side, as to be sure not to wake any of the other queens or kits in the area.

"Littlebrook, I'm here," he mewed softly, leaning down to give her a gentle lick on her chin. "Are you alright?" he mewed, looking up to Roaringblaze as if expecting some sort of bad news. Seeing that she was kitting in Leaffall, anything was possible, which was what worried the tom.

Littlebrook sighed with relief as Roaringblaze made his way through the nursery's entrance and began instructing her. Sure, she knew what to do as this wasn't her first litter, but it made her feel better to have him around just to make sure everything went smoothly. Nodding to Roaringblaze, she gripped the stick between her jaws as a fiery pain lanced through her small body. "Thank you, Roaringblaze." She told him sincerely, eyes clouded in pain. She groaned in discomfort as Mudfoot finally came to her side. "Mudfoot.." She meowed, panting from the strain her body was going through. She reached her muzzle up to touch his cheek with her nose, when suddenly another ripple of incredible pain rippled through her. She hissed lowly as the agony continued, but when it stopped, she could tell there was another life in the den. The pain had lessened, and she bent to look at the small wet bundle. Her kit. Her son. Purring loudly, she began licking the small kit in quick, strong strokes before placing him her her belly. Once the clean up was finished, she looked up at her mate with love filled eyes, her pain almost forgotten. "He's perfect." She murmured softly, tears glistening in her soft blue gaze.

Glad that she was fine, Mudfoot didn't leave her side as her body tensed up. He would never understand how she-cats dealt with kitting, but he definitively had respect for them since they had to deal with such an immense amount of pain, not to mention they had to deal with the kits themselves.

Feeling his mate's body relax, he opened his closed eyes, and looked down the a small bundle that she was busy licking. Was that all? He wasn't going to complain, but found it odd that there was only one kit, seeing that litters usually had more than two. Well, no matter what number of kits there were, he couldn't have been more happy for anything that StarClan blessed them with.

Giving a nod of thanks to Roaringblaze, he leaned down nuzzled Littlebrook's cheek against his. "He certainly is," the tom mewed with a smile as he looked at the small white and ginger kit. He could already tell that the kit would have a gorgeous coat, which made him begin to wonder what his name would be.

"Daisykit," he finally spoke after a few moments of silence between him and his mate. "Daisykit will be his name. While the weather might be gloomy or our spirits might be down, he'll be there to somehow brighten up the day, like a elegant daisy in Newleaf," he mewed softly, hoping that Littlebrook approved. It wasn't the most masculine name for a tom, but something deep in his gut told him that it would fit this kit. Not to mention the fact that he'd promised to name a kit after his great grandmother, and since he was the only kit, he decided that he'd might as well use the name seeing that the future of him having more kits was unknown.

Littlebrook smiled as she watched her mate dote over their small son. It was nice to have someone she knew she could count on for anything again, not including her children of course. She knew, somehow, that they would grow their family and therefore grow their love for eachother, and it warmed her heart just thinking about it. Her eyes landed on the little tom with an already beautiful coat, though a bit wet and in disarray, it was obvious he would be a handsome warrior one day. She opened her mouth to suggest a name, but Mudfoot beat her to it. It was a bit of a feminine name, but it was perfect. Now that she had heard it, there was no way of calling him anything else. "Daisykit.." She whispered softly, blue gaze soft. "Its perfect." She meowed, looking up at Mudfoot with a purr full of fondness.

Continuing to purr, Mudfoot nuzzled his mate's cheek once more, his gaze not moving from the newly named Daisykit. He couldn't have been a more happy and proud tom to now have such a wonderful family, and couldn't thank StarClan enough for blessing him this Leafbare. A beautiful and loving mate, new kin, life couldn't have been better.
