Cloudychase trudged out of the medicine cat den, a fresh patch of chewed herbs secured to the left side of his face by cobwebs. The white tom froze as a slim tortoiseshell returned from patrol, a shrew in her jaws. His sister had not spared so much as a look at him since the accident. Every other cat had at least tried to be nice about his injury, some had paid him a visit while he was still in the medicine cat den, but Copperlark didn't seem to think that was important. Anger bubbling within him, Cloudychase walked over to the she-cat stiffly. He had not forgotten how she had just stood there while the owl ripped his eye to shreds. He would never forget it. "Not even going to apologise?" He mew rang out across the clearing, thick with emotion he was trying to hide.

Copperlark froze as Cloudychase approached her, the smile dying from her maw. Her olive eyes hardened as she watched the white-furred tom. What did he want? Her eyes traced the diagonal scars across her brother's left eye, starting from the middle of his forehead all the way to the bottom of his cheek. The eye was cloudy, bloodshot at the sides. The tortoiseshell felt oddly disconnected, as if she was submerged under water. Cloudychase's words floated right over her head. Apologise? For what? Her mind was hazy, but words slipped out with full force. Words she had not meant to say. But perhaps she did. She didn't think about it, didn't change the words, so it must be what she truly felt, right? It felt good to be mean, as if some of the fog in her mind had been cleared. The words tasted sharp, sharp and powerful.

"Apologise for what, Cloudypaw?"

Cloudypaw. That's what she called him. Paw. A wave of anger engulfed the tom, and before he knew it the words were rushing out like water gushing out through a broken dam. "Don't act as if it wasn't your fault I lost my eye! I saw you, standing there and watching while that owl tore my eyes out! This is all your fault, and you don't even look a bit remorseful for your actions! You never visited me in the medicine cat den even though I am your brother, your littermate, and now you refuse to acknowledge my name? You fox-hearted, windclan-loving traitor!" Every word was spat out like poison, made to tear down the arrogant, stone-hearted she-cat he called his sister. Not that she would care. She didn't have a heart, afterall. Cloudychase wanted to claw Copperlark's eyes out just so she could understand the pain she put him through.

The fog left her mind, rushed away by the wave of rage that crushed through her and burst into the world, turning everything so vibrant it hurt her eyes to look. She did not- had not needed that reminder of what she had done. She knew what she had done. She knew everything that she had ever done because it haunted her, day after day, night after night, every patrol, every conversation, they kept coming back. What he said wasn't true! She had helped! She still attacked- it would have been foolish to attack an owl by herself, she was just waiting for help- help did come, and she attacked the owl! It wasn't her fault that Cloudychase' eye was ripped out! He was just angry- and it must have hurt a lot- so he just wants to blame someone!

Copperlark could feel the stunned gazes of the other cats gathered around the fresh-kill pile digging into her pelt. Every gasp, every breath, was just so loud. She wanted it to stop. She needed it to stop. They were judging her- of course they were judging her! She would be judging herself if she was there, she's just like everyone else, what did she expect? She hadn't meant to call her brother by his apprentice name, it just slipped-

Excuses. Excuses after excuses. Her tongue burned as if she had said everything out loud. She knew what she was doing, didn't she? She had wanted her brother dead. She wanted everyone dead. She wanted to rip those judging eyes right out and toss them to the river. She wanted to claw them all to pulp, to make them scream.

Copperlark held back the tears that threatoned to spill out. I won't give them the satisfaction of seeing me cry, I won't! I did nothing wrong- this is all their fault! Those fox-hearts! And that viper I used to sleep in the same nest as when I was a kit! Her legs were stiff, unresponsive to her. Her whole body was unresponsive, hard eyes starring into her brother's single sky-blue eye.

Then her legs moved. Away. Away from Cloudychase, away from her clanmates, away from everything. She just had to get away from whatever mess she had made. Maybe if she ran far enough she could break out of this nightmare...

The sheer audacity of that she-cat! Cloudychase watched as Copperlark just turned away and padded out of camp slowly without saying a word. "That's right, walk away, you coward!" He called after her, voice filled with menace. He wanted to watch that she-cat beg for his mercy. Anything, as long as she could feel the pain she put him through.

Copperlark froze. Her brother's words chilled her to the bone, washing away every ounce of emotion. Coward...? He didn't know, did he? He couldn't have know how she thought, how she acted- how did he know? She wasn't a fake, she had tried to tell herself countless of times, but now that the word were thrown right at her face... her vow at her warrior ceremony meant nothing. Her blood meant nothing. Before she knew it, her claws were digging into thick white fur, ripping it to shreds while the cat below her shrieked with pain. All the while, not a single thought penetrated her mind, and not a single emotion ran through her.

Acornstem had been with Copperlark on the patrol but had the luxury to actually manage to make it to the fresh-kill pile to drop off her catch before the sound of raised voices caught her ear. She turned to see Copperlark and Cloudychase facing off - her ears perking to make sense of it. Cloudychase was blaming her for the reason he had lost his eyes - but Copperlark chose not to engage and tried to exit before Cloudychase shouted at her, calling her a coward and then... Acornstem's paws moved nearly as fast as Copperlark's as she suddenly found herself between the two siblings - it was not white fur that Copperlark's claws sank into but instead brown.

With a grunt, Acornstem threw her weight into Copperlark to send the she-cat reeling away, eyes narrowing as a rare emotion crossed her face - anger. "Copperlark! What in the Stars do you think you are doing!" she said, turning to fully face the she-cat as she stood up to her full height - not that it was very impressive - ignoring the blood that dripped down her shoulder from taking the blow for Cloudychase. "And you!" she added, turning her head to glare at the one-eyed tom behind her. "I know you are angry but must the two of you truly act like kits instead of the warriors you both are! Calling each other names and resorting to violence will solve nothing! So you best both sit your tails down and talk to one another like the grown cats you are!"

Acornstem used Blocking Leap, taking Copperlark's blow instead, costing 5 stamina. She addiitonal used Scold, which is not a proper move but whatever.

Beetleshade had been watching the drama unfold from her favorite shady spot near the warriors den, her face unreadable as she observed the two siblings. She had become a bit of a recluse since her father's death, angry at Mottlestar for allowing his murderer to live when Starlingflare's own life had been ripped away as a punishment for his so-called "crimes". Her only comfort had been Trufflesnap's presence, and even then she found their relationship had been much more exciting when it was taboo. Not that she didn't love her mate, of course she did. She'd just been itching for some drama lately, specifically the kind that didn't involve her or anyone she was close to. She sat motionless as the argument came to blows, eager to see how far they would take it - and letting out a quiet huff of disappointment as Acornstem promptly put a stop to the violence. Well, might as well stir the pot, she thought mischeviously as she got to her paws, making a show of stretching in the warm sunlight that dappled the clearing before padding over to the group.

"Seriously, what has gotten into you two!" She said, shaking her head. Fabricated shock and disappointment coated her words. "Fighting will solve nothing," She echoed the deputy's words, "And it certainly won't bring poor Cloudychase's eye back." Her gaze was filled with faux sympathy as she looked between the siblings, and she couldn't resist adding a little more kindling to the flame of the young tom's anger. "It's a pity Copperlark wasn't as eager to fight that owl as she is to come to blows with her own brother." Beetleshade could hardly keep the smirk off her face as she spoke, shamelessly antagonizing them for her own entertainment.

Firefly had made many stupid decisions in an anger fueled rage. But the one thing she hadn't done was hit another clanmate inside what should be a safe haven. A shelter. It was ingrained deep within that you just... Didn't do that. And that's what drove her to lunge forward and pinning her to the ground, full intent on jumping Copperlark as she watched her prepare to strike Cloudychase.

But on her way there, Acornstem had already come between the two, taking the damage meant for Cloudychase that left spatters on blood on the ground between deputy and warrior.

It would be an absolute lie to say she wasn't impressed at how fast ThunderClans deputy had taken action, scolding the two younger warriors for their atrocious behavior. They were lucky Firefly hadn't been the one to get there first. She would not have been so... Professional or level-headed in her response.

A warning growl erupted from Firefly's throat as a warning to Beetleshade to knock off the antagonist poking, before redirecting it towards Copperlark and Cloudygaze. "Listen to your deputy. Sit." The usual stern look in her eyes was present, daring the two to push it further and see what happens. "Camp is not the place for a bloody spat."

Copperlark wanted to scream when Acornstem blocked her blow. Her claws itched to go further, to rip the deputy's palt to shreds, but she still had enough sense to back down. Cats chimmed in, scolding her and mocking her. She wanted to get away so bad. The tortoiseshell took a step back, then another, and before she knew it she was tearing through the forest as fast as she could, her clanmates' cries for her to come back fading into the distance.

Cloudychase jumped back as Copperlark lunged straight towards him. Before he could react, Acornstem had already blocked the blow, and began scolding his sister. Beetleshade and Firefly joined in, each scolding Copperlark-- and him?! "She nearly attacked me!" He burst out, furious that the injustice.

Acornstem opened her mouth to call after Copperlark as the she-cat chose to run off, a heavy sigh escaping her before her ears slicked back at Cloudychase spoke up. She turned to look at him with a steady glare, tail lashing once. "She did - and Mottlestar will hear of this but you did not help the situation by calling her a coward when she attempted to walk away peacefully. Calling your sister kitish names will not help whatever happened that day. You might be a newly named warrior, Cloudychase, but I expect you to act like and speak to your sister like a reasonable adult." A heavy sigh escaped her, her anger slowly starting to fade as she shook her head. "...What happened, Cloudychase? I heard some of what you shouted at her - and I aim to get her side of the story when she returns to the camp - but I need to know the full details of what transpired against that owl."

"Mottlestar will hear of what?"

Commotion had filled the camp walls, and the small tortoiseshell's ears had picked up on those sounds as she had been returning from a hunting trip. Two squirrel tails and a mouse tail hung her quarry from her maw, but that was hardly where the leader's focus was placed as she put her multiple kills in the pile. The blur of one of her multicolored warriors had caught her attention as she had made her way back, and only now did she place who it was. Copperlark? The new warrior's name sounded off in her head as she moved towards where several clanmates now gathered. Her body language had entirely shifted away from the kind stance she usually walked with, her head and tail standing tall as she donned the commander's persona she had become adjusted to over time in her role. The one that asked for respect. Not firmly commanding it - that was reserved for enemies.

"Calling your sister kitish names will not help whatever happened that day. You might be a newly named warrior, Cloudychase, but I expect you to act like and speak to your sister like a reasonable adult."

As her ears picked up on the rest of what Acornstem had to say, she couldn't help but give a firm nod of understanding towards her deputy. A nod that said - I trust you to keep handling this. After all, there was no need in back-tracking just for a leader to get the story now when she would hear more of it later. Instead, she moved towards the two warriors who seemed to not be involved.

Thoughts had rolled through her mind in an attempt to piece together just what had led to what no doubt seemed to be a quarrel between siblings. If anything, it lent itself to a nagging feeling deep in her belly.

"... but I need to know the full details of what transpired against that owl."

Sometimes, the leader wished her mother's intuition and senses were wrong. She spared a full glance towards Cloudychase, not yet bothering to say much more. Those feelings on the tom's face were clear as day: Shock at being reprimanded for his sister's actions, hurt at words that had been spoken. Part of her almost felt as if she were looking at her own set of kits, scolding them for one of their previous squabbles gone too far. It was perhaps why she found herself now next to Firefly, giving her daughter a dip of her head. From the look on the warrior's face, her leader's heritage had certainly shown through in a blaze that said she was there to make sure no clanmate was about to actually have claws embedded in their pelts. Mottlestar couldn't help her smile of pride in that moment.

Leaning over to whisper to her daughter, Mottlestar prompted, "Any details I need to know now, my little flame?" She didn't want to disrupt Acornstem's actions, but couldn't help the curiosity and need to know. She was still leader, after all. One ear was purely focused on Firefly's response, indicated by the tilt of her head, as her gaze and focus seemed to stay on her deputy and the new warrior before her. Potential punishments rolled through her mind, but part of her truly felt the near-public shaming was enough. At least for Cloudychase. It was Copperlark's actions that had the leader's mind whirling, especially as she had made herself scarce after seemingly being the one to provoke a sore spot in her brother.

For once, she was thankful to the stars it wasn't Murkyripple, Firefly, or Redpaw.

Cloudychase glarred at Acornstem, but still answered. "It was just a hunting patrol, but when I was hunting I was attacked by a shrew. I screamed for help, and noticed Copperlark standing in the ferns watching, but she didn't do anything at all! It was only thanks to Blazefang and Ridgecrest that I survived that attack at all!" The white tom mewed, voice still laced with rage.

Beetleshade narrowed her eyes as the younger warrior sent a warning growl her way, holding back a scoff. Just because she was Mottlestar's daughter didn't mean she was in charge of Beetleshade, and she had to resist the urge to roll her eyes at the she-cats bossiness. Besides, surely she couldn't have been the only cat thinking the same thing, it wasn't her fault she was the only one bold enough to say so out loud. Her fun quickly came to an end when Copperlark decided to be a party pooper and run off into the forest, and it was at that moment Beetleshade decided the confrontation was no longer of interest to her. Oh well, at least she'd gotten a bit of entertainment out of it. As Mottlestar approached the tortoiseshell quietly excused herself, muttering something about going hunting, though she doubted any of the other cats were listening.
