Kits, Open your Eyes... [OPEN topic]

Lavenderheart, nudging her kits gently, mewed in a soft, calming voice, "Wake up... Time to show you your home, kits." Before they start waking, she quickly groomed each of them until their fur was clean. It was only some time ago that they were born, so now that they open their eyes, the queen hoped that their eye color had already formed. She hadn't wanted them to open their eyes until she was positive she could see their eye colors for herself. Then, she could have someone guide them through the camp - perhaps their father or one of their kin wouldn't mind. Or even perhaps Ivyfur wouldn't mind doing so for them. Feeling each of them start to stir, she purred, "Twistedfoot, you can come in and see the kits."

Hearing her mother try to wake her and her siblings, Ravenkit let out a long sigh, "Not..." Though feeling her siblings stir, she let out a small groan before slowly opening her eyes. Waving her tail until it was in front of her, the black she-kit blinked, seeing her tail. It was black with two tail rings, the lower one had a point in the middle. Looking at her siblings, she noticed that their pelts were all different colors and seeing her mother's, she was a bit curious as to why there were so many colors. Looking at her own pelt, she noticed it was black and one of her forepaws had the same markings as her tail. As she waited for her siblings, Ravenkit was a little curious as to what outside looked like, though she wasn't looking forward to meeting anyone.

Berrykit yawned. She felt her mothers soft tongue on her fur. She sighed and stretched. "Do we have to?" she whined in a soft voice. She got up anyways and stumbled a bit before opening her eyes. Even the dim light of the nursery was bright and she stumbled and tripped over her siblings. She fell down into a heap before getting up.

Hawkkit felt herself be nudged over and over to get up. She moved her limbs and sat up wobbily. She needed to get up first and be stronger than the others, she had to surpass them and protect them, even if they were annoying. "I'm up, i'm up." She yawned and shifted closer to her mother, keeping to her warmth.

Cloudkit heard his mothers calling and felt her tongue rubbing against his fur and took them both as a wake up call. "Ugh, I'm up already..."   He poked his nose up to smell everything around him before opening his eyes for the first time. Everything was so...DIFFERENT. He didn't expect it to be this awesome. It didn't take him long to wake up and take on his extra energetic mood, and as he saw his mother's tail swaying, he couldn't resist the urge to pounce on it.

Badgerkit was the last of his siblings to finally move, forcing himself to his paws with a small, pitiful moan. Clearly, he wasn't a morning kit. His eyes blinked open for the first time, quickly narrowing against the weak sunlight that was making it into the nursery. The new world of color and shapes shocked the kit, who had grown so used to the world of darkness he had been living in up to that moment. He slowly became aware of his shapes that were his siblings, surprised by the many colors that they had.

Badgerkit's gaze dropped to his own paws in interest, wondering what he looked like. The black legs and the grey paws that he held did little to make him stop his wonder, and he started to circle himself, his eyes fixed on his black tail. The white markings at the end of it made him smile a bit, but the fact that he was unable to see the rest of him slightly annoyed him. He finally stopped his circling as he narrowed his eyes, a dark sky blue; barely noticeable to been a different shade then the color his eyes would of been if he had opened them sooner. He however remained silent as he waited for his mother to tell them what they were really doing awake. He had been enjoying his nap after all.

Twistedfoot poked his head into the nursery, having been walking past when he heard the soft mewing of kits. His eyes quickly brightened at the sight of his kits all walking around with their eyes open. His tail flickered with joy as he pulled himself all the way in and limped over to the group, watching each of his kits as the wandered around. "Look at them..." he whispered with a large grin on his face. He had been waiting for this moment for a while, waiting until they could see the camp. "Are we going to show them the camp now?"

Letting out a purr, Lavenderheart replied gently, nudging her mate, getting up for the first time in awhile. "Of course, Twistedfoot! That's why I woke them up in the first place. And perhaps for them to meet their Clanmates." Feeling Cloudkit's tiny body leap on her tail, she gave a small mew of surprise. Seeing Hawkkit try and get up, her legs wobbling, the queen couldn't help but let out a small sigh. The small brown-and-black tabby always felt that she should do best, even when her eyes couldn't see anything! Though that determination was adorable at her age. Turning her glance towards Berrykit, she let out a small laugh, a soft smile on her face. Helping the kit get up, Lavenderheart looked over to Badgerkit, who had been running around before stopping, waiting to hear what she had to say next. "Kits, this is your father - Twistedfoot. He's going to show you around camp today and have you meet your Clanmates and other family," the queen explained, her tail pointing to her mate before she got up. It's been awhile since the last time she had to stand up, so she was a bit clumsy at first. As soon as she regained her balance, she walked over to Twistedfoot, standing beside him.

Ravenkit, who hadn't exactly been as amazed as her siblings, turned her gaze back to where Lavenderheart to see that she wasn't there. Looking to Twistedfoot, she saw her mother there, happy. That was her father? He didn't seem to look like her in the slightest bit! Having an emotionless expression, she couldn't tell why this was such an exciting moment and didn't exactly care, or even want to meet anyone else. She just wanted to know her siblings, mother, and father, that's it. It's not that difficult to understand that. Then again, why was everyone so happy? Looking to Badgerkit, the black she-kit clumsily got up and walked over to him, asking, "Why... Happy...?"

Hawkkit heard her mother say her father was there, so she opened her shocking amber eyes and blinked at the many colors of the world. The first thing she was Twistedfoot, her father. She blinked a couple time and looked around to her siblings. Badgerkit was trying to look at himself, and that reminded Hawkkit. What did she look like? She looked at her paws. Her front feet, which she had white stockings on the front, and as she looked at her back, she saw she had white toes on her back feet. She looked at her tail, which had white at the base, white in the middle, and white at the tip, with mud brown and black between the spaces. She layed down and looked at her back, she looked to be all mud brown with black tabby markings.

She jumped back up, but stumbled on her way up, still not used to her shaky limbs. She looked to the rest of her sibling, looking at the many colors of each of them. They all almost looked nothing alike to their mother and father. Looking back to her father, she saw why he was called his name, his foot. It was twisted. That wasn't normal. None of her siblings or her mother had a twisted foot. But it was her father, so she didn't care what he looked like, she still loved him already. So, she decided to be the first to greet her father and stumbled right up to him. "Hello." she said sweetly. With her big amber eyes shining.

"Wow our father?" The kit mewed in excitement. "Hi Mr. Father!! I mean, TwistedFoot!!" He ran up to the big cat that looked alot like him and jumped on his side and kind of clung to him for a few seconds before falling and rolling back up and asking, "Mom can we leave now? I can't wait to start"! He was really exited to leave the nursery for the first time.

Owlkit sat near the edge of the nursery, hoping noone would notice him. The kits opening their eyes for the first time made a very small smile appear on his face.

Badgerkit had looked at his father in surprise when he had appeared, a bit confused. His father? He had only heard his voice before, so to finally be able to see his father. He quickly took note of the grey spot that was on his father's back and with some effort Badgerkit was able to look at the white spot on his back. The fact that they had the same spot bought a bit of joy to the kit, but he quickly snapped out of it when he heard the small voice of his sister. He looked at Ravenkit with a small shrug, trying to come up with a word to say. Of course, one that he thought could explain why he was happy and he had a feeling he would be able to say didn't really come to him so he remained silent.

Twistedfoot grinned as he watched his kits, glancing at his mate. "Just look at them, eyes already open and already able to speak!" It surprised him that some of them could already form real sentences, seeing how they were only a moon old. Of course, he was a bit disappointed that he would have to be the one to take them around the camp, but he figured Lavanderheart would need time alone after having to take care of them. He just hoped he could stay up with them...He turned with a small huff and started to walk toward the exit of the nursery, only pausing to look at the kits and flicker his tail at them. "Come along, little ones! Let's go see the camp and your Clanmates. Just remember to stay close and don't wander off!" And with that, he ducked out of the den and waited for his kits to follow.

Badgerkit watched his father leave the den with a flicker of surprise, and looked at his sister Ravenkit before smiling widely at her. "Come!" he manged to squeak, his first words ever as he turned and bounded after his father, falling a few times but always scrambled back to his paws and continued on. The moment his small head exited the nursery and he saw the camp for the first time, he was in utter shock. To see the large expanse of the sky above him and his Clanmates shocked him, having never once thought he would see so many cats. He quickly skirted close to his father, not wanting to get tramped under a warrior's foot.

Hawkkit quickly ran after Badgerkit, trying to keep her balance as she stumbled a few times. She shot out of the nursery and barely landed with falling on her face. She looked up to the brightness and she was amazed. There were so many more things out here than she imagined. She loved it. The wide open space and her many clanmates. She noticed that Badgerkit was cowering behind Twistedfoot at the new things. She hopped forward in front of Twistedfoot and went out into the open space a little more before stopping and waiting for the rest of her littermates.

Licking the tom, Lavenderheart whispered in Twistedfoot's ear, "You'll do fine. Don't worry! You could ask Ivyfur or Shadeheart to help you as well. Or perhaps Patcheye!" Going back to her nest, the queen settled back down, letting out a sigh of relief to have a little bit of alone time. When she learned that she was having kits, she thought it would be simple if there was just one to three of them. However, five was maybe a little too much. Seeing Owlkit, the blue-grey she-cat mewed, "You can go with them if you want, Owlkit. It'll help Twistedfoot and I'm sure the kits wouldn't mind being friends with you." While she was sure that every kit wouldn't mind, the only one she was worried about was Ravenkit. She already seemed to have a lonely side and didn't like to talk so much, which made her wonder why. The jet-black she-kit's personality reminded her of Drizzlekit, though. She already promised not to go back to ShadowClan's side of SkyClan territory, so she let a thought drift. You have more family, Drizzlekit... Silentstar. SkyClan may be gone, but not forgotten. StarClan help me with these kits.

Looking back at Lavenderheart, Ravenkit wasn't sure she wanted to leave her mother's side. However, if her siblings all insisted on leaving the nursery and meeting their clanmates, she would only follow, speaking rarely. Giving a small, slight nod, the she-kit followed after the rest of her family slowly. The moment she was outside, she blinked, though showed no sign of change when she walked out to feel and see the sun's intensifying rays. Looking up at the sky, Ravenkit wondered what it looked like at this... "night" her mother always spoke of.

Seeing Badgerkit sort of stay closer to Twistedfoot than the others, Ravenkit noticed that Hawkkit was already going ahead and stopping real quick. Slightly curious by all the cats, though she wasn't really showing any signs of it, the she-kit wondered how many cats there actually were in the clan territories. Already seeing some slight disturbed looks, Ravenkit wondered why. She always heard that her mother was from another clan and joined WindClan after Lavenderheart's mother just left for some important reason. Was that a problem, though? However, she just noticed that all the other cats' ears were pointed up. Turning her glance to her ears, she saw that they were flat down. Trying to lift them up, Ravenkit felt as if she couldn't tell they were there. Putting a paw at one of her ears, her paw felt the ear, but the ear didn't feel the paw. She wondered why it was like that.

Snowpaw, bringing a small rabbit in, saw the kits as she placed the prey on the fresh-kill pile. Having a soft smile on her face, the apprentice wondered about what kits were like. Sometimes, it interested her to see newborn kits, other times, it sort of frightened her at the thought of the birth, hearing that sometimes death could happen. Seeing that they were out for the first time, she reminded herself that Twistedfoot was their father. After getting used to his twisted foot, Snowpaw just passed over it. However, she knew that some of the kits were wondering why he had it.

Hearing his mother talk about the kit that he didn't even know was there, he lousily ran over to the other kit and mewed as best he could, "You hear that? Mom says you can come with us"! He spoke with an exited tone. "We can be best friends"! Though the kit barely knew what he was talking about he wanted to learn more about this Owlkit person.

Berrykit stumbled outside and shook his fur angrily. He didn't like feeling so clumsy but he forgot everything as soon as he stepped outside. The bright light pierced his eyes and he had to blink rapidly to get used to it. He fell down again but pushed hisself up quickly. He saw the others way ahead and raced to catch up. He bumped into a few things but quickly learned how to run. He caught up to them and skidded to a stop. He saw all of her siblings for the first time and marveled at how different they looked. He paused to look at himself and saw he had brown, black, white and grey splotches on his fur. He didn't look like any of his siblings or parents. He then looked at his father. "Umm.. Hi! Are you really my dad?" He looked up at Twistedfoot. He tried to copy the way he was walking. With his shoulders pushed back and his head held high. But all he managed to do was trip again.

Owlkit smiled at Cloudkit. This other kit was definitely very friendly. He wasn't used to other kits around, especially when they talked to him. Few cats spoke to him, and he never spoke to any cats. He never spoke in the first place, though.
