Out of instinct, Firefly's tail found her mothers back, giving a light tap in greeting as the mottled leader came to a standstill beside her. "Any details I need to know now, my little flame?" A long sigh escaped her, her gaze lingering on the tunnel where Copperlark had just disappeared. This felt all too familiar. Had she also looked this dramatic when she'd run out of the gathering two full moons ago? "It started with Copperlark calling Cloudychase, Cloudypaw." Already off to a rough start with being disrespectful to a fellow warrior, sibling or not. "This lead to name-calling and - I can't confirm whether or not this is true - Cloudychase claiming Copperlark had stood by while an owl had plucked his eye out, and he demanded an apology for it. When Copperlark turned her back, Cloudychase called her a coward and. Well. You see how well that went. Acornstem was the one who stepped in front of Copperlark's claws and took the hit." Her tail motioned in the direction of the calico who Mottlestar was sure to have already seen booking it out of camp.
"That's the short of it." She side-eyed Beetleshade, acknowledging the warriors narrow-eyed glare. A muttered word about going hunting and she was gone. At least there wouldn't be any further poking and prodding. Especially now with Mottlestar in Leader Mode. "Acornstem seems to be handling quite well." She gave an approving nod.

Blazefang had seen it all play out, but hoped desperately that her now-grown children could handle the matter like adults. Instead, Copperlark had attempted to attack her own brother. Blazefang was not about to watch her remaining children tear each other apart. The high ranks were involved already, but her paws still carried her forward. “I trust Copperlark will be punished, Mottlestar,” she mewed. She’d seen this all before. Unbidden, the image of Whisperear’s bleeding throat came to mind. Daisybreeze and Copperlark were scarily similar. Blazefang loved Copperlark as much as all her other daughters, but she was not about to lose her only son again.

A heavy sigh escaped Acornstem as she turned to see Mottlestar arrived - but she seemed content to let the deputy handle it as she moved around the scene to speak with her daughter. Acornstem only returned a tense nod to her as Cloudychase spoke - turning her attention to him. "I see," she meowed, almost a little disappointed with how brief his explanation was. He was attacked, Copperlark was seen standing on the sidelines and it fell to others to safe him. "But...Does that really warrant a loud argument in the middle of the camp?" Her expression soften as she sat down - ignoring the faint jolt of pain from her bleeding side in the motion. "You are angry at her - I get that and you have every right to be. You feel she did nothing - and indeed, she did in that motion - but there is also her side of the story. Not everybody react to the same situation the same - did you consider that she might have been frozen in fear for your life?" she asked, tilting her head with a soft frown.
"Fear is a powerful thing - it can drive us to swipe without thinking - perhaps like how she nearly attacked you in the camp upon being cornered on her inaction - or halt in the face of danger like she did that hunting patrol against the owl. Of course, we cannot know without her side of the story. Return to the medicine cat den, Cloudychase - rest and recover so you may return to your duties. Know that I will have stern words for your sister when she returns to the camp - I will hear her side of the story so things can be talked out between you two...But I assure you she will be punished in some way for attempting to harm an injured Clanmate."

Hearing Cloudychase's raised voice, Echopaw jumped out of the medicine cat den, ears flattened to his head as he trained his eyes on the two new warriors. He recalled just recently he had brought them to the moonstone. While there he had felt the distance that Cloudypaw- Cloudychase had put between them on the journey, he tried to appease the young tom's anxieties but wasn't sure he did such a good job. he stood back as they fought with vicious words, his fur raised as it started to get more heated and all of a sudden Copperlark lashed out but there was a flash of fur and Acornstem was there in Cloudychase's place. He watched as his oldest friend and now his deputy approached and diffused the situation with quick paws and strong words. He felt pride warming his heart as he saw how well she was adjusting to being their deputy.
The tom approached Acornstem with a small wad of cobwebs and pressed them into the small scratches that she had gained while taking the blow for her clanmate. If it still needed care beyond soaking up the blood, he'd trust Acornstem to visit him but for now the cobwebs seemed to suffice. He huffed and waited for Acornstem to finish speaking before he turned to Cloudychase, "Keep fighting. See where it leads you. You could've lost your other eye. You want her to understand your pain? Losing a sibling won't help you. We've lost enough clanmates these past moons. Yes?" he meowed strongly, focusing hard on making sure his sentences and words made sense. He had half the mind to tell Acornstem to stick them on elders' den duties together. That would really get them talking, it would also give Echopaw the ability to watch over them if they had to visit him for mouse bile and such. And after all, it was Cloudychase that had started the screaming match, that had antagonized the other warrior. "Hmm, like Acornstem said, come with me. Fawnshine will let you know when you can go back to regular duties," he added. This fight would surely cause irritation to the eye and to the scars surrounding it.

"Fine," Cloudychase growled under his breath as he trailed after Echopaw. Really, what was with these cats? He had clearly been wronged by that fox-heart, why was he being scolded?
