Thunder crashes [TC Flood Topic]

Ferretpaw exchanged nervous glances with her clan mates as the tremor swept over them. Locking eyes with Pricklebush, she opened her mouth to speak before all of ThunderClan yowled out in alarm. She turned and saw the incredible wave of muddy water coming toward them, tipping small trees on a harsh angle. Her stomach dropped.

Cats toppled around her. Not knowing what to do, she called out. "THE TREES! GO!"

Pricklebush was a few steps ahead of her, and she followed him up the nearest trunk. She felt the water hit her short tail as she scaled the bark. She was overwhelmed with images of the world swallowing her up. Her vision clouded, in both eyes for once, by mud and sticks and water. It took her multiple moments to realize she had made it up, and that she had buried her head in her paws, clinging on for dear life.

"StarClan, Pricklebush," she cried softly, choked up by the sight below her. She swore she saw a pair of ears in the water. "Oh, StarClan, we're alive. We're alive and we're dry."

She looked around herself, scanning the treetops. "Is anybody there? Mosspaw? Lynxtail? Copperheart? Batpaw?"

Almost there. Come on, little one. As she was at the edge of the entrance with the kit, a wave crashed upon the slim brown tabby, pushing her down and causing her to drop the kit. Falconwing tumbled over and over, striking wildly with her paws. Her claws had touched a few times against the ground, but she was traveling too quickly to do anything. Somehow she found her head atop the waves and discovered she was being swept through the gorge, away from camp. Taking a much-needed breath before the water shoved her down again, she opened her eyes painstakingly underneath and tried to spot the scrap of fur. The little bundle wasn't far away, and by some miracle slammed into her chest. Snatching it quickly, she fought towards the top of the waves once again, all thoughts of camp and her family drowned out of her mind. I have to protect the kit.

Dewpaw let out a cry of pain and he shouldered himself under the boulder and pushed itu p long enough to pull out his paw. He held back a gag as he saw his mangled back paw. It was seeping blood and was crushed. He quickly lept down from the tall rock back into the water and sloshed his out of camp. He looked into the trees and spotted a famillar pelt flashing thought the flood. "Flintfang!" He screeched as a wave hit him and sent him flying away and away from everything he had ever known.

Ravenstripe held a kit in her jaws, running to put it into safety with the rest of the clan, she had to be fast, she was a warrior now, she could do it...! Until that booming noise made her stumble and look at the wave that was approaching... her eyes widened... she held the kit tightly and made her way out of the camp and to a tree as fast as she could...

But the wave was faster and hit her, she tried to sink her claws on the ground but it was impossible, she got swept but managed to keep her head out of the water, keeping the kit she was holding out so it didn´t drown... she didn´t know where the current was taking her... and that scared her.

"We're gonna make it, Ferretpaw. Just stay calm. Everything's going to be o-"
The wall of water that hit Lynxtail was powerful enough to knock him clean off of his feet. He curled around the kit protectively, completely at the mercy of the current. His back hit countless trees but he never changed position, placing himself between the kitten and whatever obstacle might be in their way. Every so often, the two were tossed above the waves and given a much-needed breath of air.

"Dewpaw!" Flintfang grunted, grabbing his apprentice by the scruff and dislodging him from the mud. As much as the two fought, a fear had formed in Flintfang's heart at the thought of losing him. "Listen to me, get to higher ground, I'm gonna go help Bushfang. And...be safe." The tone of compassion was rare, but even the gray tom was capable of it in times like these. Seeing his daughters leave camp safely, Flintfang's new focus was on his sister. She had managed to climb above the clearing, safe from deeper waters. "I'm here Bush!" Flintfang yowled, answering her call. The tom was still in the hollow, flanked by Dewpaw.

A deafening crack sounded somewhere far in the distance. It shook the ground and rang through the tom's ears. What in the name of-

WHOOSH

A massive wave of water hit the tom at full force before he could react. Flintfang's paws were torn out from under him, head pulled under the current. The mass of debris and dirt swarmed around the young warrior, clipping his legs and tugging on his fur. Every gasp for breath only brought water, coughing. There was a large impact, and then there was black. Knocked out cold, the current carried the tom to who knows where, tugging his unconscious figure through the forest.

Mosspaw had settled into a comfortable rhythym walking side by side with Batpaw. She had seen Falconwing, Flintfang, and Lilypaw moving away from the camp, so she took comfort in knowing they got out. Suddenly she felt ground tremble beneath her feet, and jumped with the sickening crack that happened moments after. She braced herself against Batpaw as a wave rushed towards them.

The wave came, cold and harsh, sweeping the young apprentice right off of her paws. Her yowl was cut off as water rushed into her mouth. She forced herself to the surface, gulping a quick breath before the water closed over her head again. Her mind filled with the thoughts of her family, mentor, and all the others. I hope they're all safe... she thought as she finally stopped trying to fight the current and focused only on trying to stay above the surface of the torrent around her. Who knew where she would end up, but she knew she would not give up until she was reunited with the ones she loved.

Batpaw walked side by side with Mosspaw, trying not to let herself be weighed down by her soaked fur, when the wave hit. She managed, somehow, to not get washed away by scrambling up the closest tree, but she realized that Mosspaw had been swept away when she couldn't find her by looking around. She hoped that wherever the water had taken her, it was close enough to find her way back to them, and that she would be safe.

Emberheart was moving forward, trying desperately to get the kit she was transporting to safety. She saw the wave coming and braced herself, hoping that she wouldn't be washed away more for the kit's sake than her own. It was difficult climbing a tree with a kit, but she managed somehow: there would be time to thank StarClan for this small miracle when they were safe. For now, she was more focused on staying alive.
