Deep in his slumber, the warrior found solace in the lack of consciousness. Dreams were flitting and not memorable. Occasionally his pelt or whiskers twitched as the only sign of life in his bulky frame. As water crept into the den, silently at first and eventually softly lapping at his paws and coat, Beartooth's ear twitched. For some time, the tom managed to sleep contentedly through the initial pooling of liquid in the warrior's den. That was until a chorus of frantic yowls finally roused him from sleep. Eyes snapped open to stare up at Lynxpaw, his apprentice. He blinked. What was happening? With a glance around, he slowly began to gather the things happening around him. Beartooth leaped onto his paws and padded quickly out of the den to look over the camp. It was all flooded. Dread crept into his abnormally still heart and his head turned as he sought direction. Marshstorm, Leopardstar, Ridgepaw, Blizzardshine, Bushfang, Dewpaw... so many names ran through his mind in an instant. He longed to locate all of them at once.

The flurry of the commotion was hard for the tom to keep up with. Every time he turned his head another cat was rushing by. A new pelt, yowls for kits and elders and herbs. All of it was futile. Before he could manage to form a thought, the torrent of crashing water and debris was barreling down on the clan. It smashed into him with an unrelenting force. Beartooth's breath was knocked from his lungs and the world seemed to spin like something out of a horrific nightmare. His paws churned against the current and he fought to keep his head above the water. Gasping for much-needed breaths, the tom's lungs pooled with water he had unintentionally swallowed. The edges of his vision blurred as he strained to find something, anything. Sticks and twigs battered his already beaten body but he ignored them all, especially at the sight of Flintfang's grey tabby coat, bobbing in and out of view. If he could have yowled in desperation, for once he would have. Each paddle of his massive paws was as futile as the last. A little more, a little further. He urged himself towards his clanmate's pelt as the pair of them were tossed about by the world around them. Just when it seemed like he could do it no more, coughing and sputtering intermittently, his paws his something.

Beartooth's eyes widened as he realized it was Flintfang. Somehow between the current and the waves, his teeth managed to capture the scruff of his unconscious clanmate and dug in for dear life. They had to stay together. Everything else was gone, and this was what they had. It couldn't be lost. Against all of his better judgment and much to his own distaste, the warrior found himself pleading with Starclan. And that was the exact moment a branch smacked into the side of his head with a sickening thud.

Marshstorm watched as warriors slowly came up the mud slick path. He helped a few along, but as a rumbling roar came closer, he was horrified to see a wall of water racing towards camp! He turned to see Lynxtail and Batpaw still making their way up with Ferretpaw and others, immediately racing and slipping down to help push them up faster.

He grossly underestimated the water's speed. It slammed into him, taking his breath away for precious moments.His paws slipped off the ledge and he felt himself tumbling in the massive wave.

Rocks hit his face and chest, his whole body being battered by debris as he tried to focus on seeing any other cats in the torrent with him. His gaze found Beartooth for a brief moment before it was obscured by mud that blinded his eyes as he clung to something he couldnt see floating through the turmulterous current.

"Starclan save us!" he begged through the roaring rain and water.

Cloverleaf gasped as she witnessed a large amount of water rushing toward them. Her green eyes narrowed to slits as she grabbed onto the nearest tree and braced herself.

"!" The she-cat tightened her grip as the water passed her, taking clan-mates with it. Her eyes widened and she held on. Dear Starclan!

"H-Harefoot!" called Flamerose as she looked around for her friend. She hadn't spotted him for a while so she had become increasingly worried. Where was he? As she began to call out again, yowls diverted her attention. Her head snapped around to take a look. The flood water had risen to an ultimate high and was directly going to them. Her face now had the look of terror as she scrambled to find higher ground. She managed to grab onto a tree's low-hanging branch and then prepared for the worst.

The warrior grimaced as a piece of debris hit her right thight but luckily, she was hanging on tightly. She hoped and prayed that those that were being swept away would live and come out somewhat unharmed.

Bluepaw was shaking and whimpering as she looked around. Everything was chaotic and frightening. Why was Starclan letting this happen? As she heard the sudden rise of voices laced with terror, she turned to look at the direction most were staring at and what she saw caused her heart to drop. A wave was coming toward them at a high speed. Oh Starclan! The young she-cat looked around for something to hold onto. She ran to the nearest tree and climbed as high as she could, which wasn't very high, and held on for dear life.

The apprentice squealed as her attempts to hold on were futile. She was swept away with the quick currents. She gasped and attempted to surface. Unfortunately, Bluepaw didn't manage to take in a breath of fresh air before drowning in the raging flood.

The cream undersides of his paws were soaked to the core as Copperheart hurriedly trudged through the inch-high water, his thick orange pelt not helping much in the situation. He kept heading towards his siblings, his father, hope starting to shine in his heart brighter and brighter when suddenly, a rumble shivered his feet. 

Turning around, his golden eyes widened with fear as he saw a giant wave heading straight towards him and his Clanmates. His fur immediately fluffed up and Copperheart turned back to be met with cats attempting to scramble up trees, to which he followed. He ran as fast as he could in the water that reduced his speed towards the nearest tree... but to no avail. The current immediately slammed into him unexpectedly, bowling him over and hitting several trees and any brush in the process. He called out to his siblings, his father, anyone... one last time before the torrent rushed over his head, carelessly carrying him away from his friends, family, and his Clan.

"Watch out!" called Birdflight when she spotted the elevated flood wave coming right at them. She grabbed onto the nearest object but soon realized that she wasn't aware of where her kits were. "Wasppaw! Mothpaw! Hold on wherever you are!"

Birdflight gasped when the wave struck her. She accidentally let go and was now being taken away by the water. She made sure to resurface constantly so not to drown.

In the midst of all the commotion, was Honeypaw. He was there, nervously but assuringly offering others moral support and encouragement, though not physically helping much else. Though consistently providing comforting words to cats near him, a subtle but strong crack shook his paws. The brown tom soon spotted a wave hurling towards him and the rest of his Clan. His eyes widened and trembled, and before his mind got a say in anything, his body immediately carried him to the nearest tree, to which he successfully scrambled up just as the wave rushed in, carrying away his Clanmates. He yowled out to them fearfully, but there was nothing he could do but watch them hopelessly sink under.

"GO GO GO!  Get up the cliff, I'll make sure the dens are clear!"  Shoving against Echofrost and glaring around at the rest of his clanmates still in camp, Leopardstar's soaked pelt stood on end.  He would not allow any of his clanmates to foolishly place themselves in harm's way when he could fill the role.  I have eight more lives to spare...let me protect you, please!  Though the water was still shallow, only up to his ankles, his gut twisted with the innate feeling that danger was approaching, that he needed to run.  And so did ThunderClan.  Once the last of the cats had filtered from the clearing and up onto the slick Gorge path, he dashed around from den to den, a golden blur against the dismal dark water.  He confirmed; they were all out, about to be safe, and now he could leave too.  Leopardstar glanced up at the Highrock as he jogged past, his face overcome with grief.  My home...will everything still be here when we return?  Will it be the same?  He pushed away those emotions though as he pressed on, tearing through the gorse tunnel and leaping up the cliffside two steps at a time, his claws overextended in an effort to remain gripped to the stones.  He panted, chest heaving in time with his paws as the top of the Gorge came into sight, where his clan and family waited.  Almost there...just a few steps closer...

CRACK

The blood in his veins froze over as the sickening sound echoed through the trees as the large tom skidded to a halt, hazel eyes watching helplessly as a great torrent came down upon his clan, his home, his inheritance...  "No...no, no no!  RUN!"  He did so, scratched and bleeding paws rubbed raw as the leader scrambled over the last few boulders keeping him from the top, but like always it seemed, he wasn't fast enough.  Wordlessly, the former rogue was swept from the cliffside by the great wave, it's weight pressing down on his chest and ridding him of all remaining oxygen.  He became one with the flood as it tumbled down into the camp, his weak feline body unable to fight.  His mind screamed, terror and despair all he could see until...he could only feel pain.  It felt as if his skull had split open, mind laying bare with all his secrets...but only for a moment.  Everything faded away - all the fear, the hurt, the guilt - and he was left with nothing, as the leader fell into a world he had traveled before, a world of silence and peace...
