Dawnhawk rooted himself in place well enough. He slipped forelimbs under her own and tried to tilt her off balance. His sister's initial strength had surprised him. Still, he didn't intend to just hand her the win.

Primroselight was starting to relax a bit. This is almost like how we played as kits, she thought sadly as they tumbled around. Those days are so far away..., but she kept fighting, still intent on winning. Sooner or later, one of them would in, and she hoped that it would be her.

Primroselight wasn't the only one having kit flashbacks. He wanted those days back... he realized with a start. This wasn't good for him suddenly. Playing a harmless wrestling game with his sister brought up things from the back of his mind that didn't need to be at the forefront right now. He gave her one final, forceful shove. It was is if he was rejecting the memories and emotions while she carried them and tried to force him to think about them again.

Primroselight felt Dawnhawk's blows falter as his mind ventured somewhere else. She was about to try and pin him in the moment of weakness, but she wasn't quick enough. He shoved her, and she leapt back. This time, her paws landed securely on his shoulders, pinning him to the ground. You won! But why don't I feel like it... She had expected to feel victorious and happy, like she'd succeeded. But she just felt... sad. She had been reminded of kit hood times, and how far they were away. "Good match." She said to him, accompanied with a curt nod.

Dawnhawk wasn't expecting the leap backward. He staggered forward and slipped in a patch of ice hidden under the snow. He hit the ground and he felt weight on top of him. Primroselight had won. He turned his head to look at her but said nothing at first. A small half smile twitched the corner of his mouth.

"Strength has always been dad's thing. He admitted. He tapped one of his paws on her hindleg and waited for her to get off of him.

Primroselight gently got off Dawnhawk, and flicked her tail at his comment. "That's not the only way he's ten times the cat you'll ever be." Even though her temper had softened a bit compared to her recent outbursts, some of her words still held much more venom than they used to. She took a few steps away from him and sat down, waiting for the other warriors to finish their spars.

Dawnhawk sighed, loudly, then got to his feet. Did she think he was just going to keep taking insults every time one was thrown at him? He followed after her calmly. There was no point in being here now that he lost. In passing, he stopped beside her, leaned in and whispered.

"He would have let the whole clan die as long as he wasn't seen as a coward like Spottedstar. I'm not the monster you think I am, nor is he the hero you think he is." She could talk if she wanted, but he was already leaving. Let her think on that for awhile.

An affectionate purr rumbled in Smokefeather's chest at Copperfox's playful 'threat' and she padded towards the edge of the makeshift sparring ring, settling in to watch as Ashstorm paired up with Flowerthorn. Ashstorm had the size advantage, but Flowerthorn was more scrappy than most gave her credit for, Smokefeather thought.

Primroselight had managed to beat Dawnhawk, and Smokefeather found herself unable to help a smile at that. Her daughter had taken a bit longer to come into her own in combat than most of the family, but she had good instincts and a clear head. Watching them, she could almost be reminded of when they were kits... But that had been long ago, and in very different times.

So of course, they had to immediately ruin it.

At the arguing, Smokefeather let out a huff. "That is enough, both of you. Is one day of peace and quiet too much to ask?" She asked, fixing booth of her kits with a level glare.

A smirk on a face he knew greeted him. Honeycomb gave him little warning before she pounced. Redfall reared up to meet her, planting his back paws firmly into the ground. They collided, and though he staggered back more than he would have liked, he remained on his two hind legs. The muscular tom let out a huff of air. “Time to see how well I’ve trained you,” he said. Still balancing on his hind legs, Redfall lunged towards his daughter’s shoulders and tried to force her to the ground with brute strength. Even if it didn’t work, it would hopefully serve to tire her out.

Adderflare looked around at the cats participating in this stupid-looking game. If this was a tournament, where was the blood? The actual fighting? What, pray tell, was the point of fighting if not to injure?
The she-cat stared disdainfully at the other cats for a few minutes, growing ever more aware of how stiff her legs were. If she sat here like this all day, she'd probably lose her ability to use them. Hunting was usually an option in these situations, but today... Today, she realised with a sigh, the only option was to participate in this nonsense game. Rising to her feet with surprising swiftness, she stepped further into the clearing. Wordlessly, she looked around and waited for an opponent.
