Their blows had been aimed at the other's shoulders for some time now. Redfall kept expecting a blow to the legs, something to knock him off balance, but it still came when he wasn't expecting it. He stumbled back, hind legs scrambling to find purchase on the frozen rocky ground. None was to be found. The tom was knocked onto his side. He tried to roll onto his back and kick Smokefeather away, but her grip was too tight and the ground too icy (or that was what he blamed it on, still refusing to consider himself exhausted). Going limp, his tail flicked in a signal that she'd won. Green eyes slid around to regard the gray she-cat as she let him up. "Congratulations," he muttered in a tone that was not congratulatory whatsoever. Luck, he thought bitterly, stupid dumb luck. He was mad that Smokefeather had beat him of all cats, though maybe it was for the best. The winner had an assortment of Asylum prizes, like pelts or flower decorations or... something like that. He'd gotten the highest placement without Asylum things in his pelt. His Clanmates would be able to see his loss was simple luck... Right?

Smokefeather's lips twitched into a sardonic smirk as she finally got the better of Redfall. She hasn't been expecting to actually pin her opponent this time, in truth. Maybe it was the icy ground, or it truly was luck. Or maybe, just maybe, all of that training she'd done with Bloodstrike to get out of the shadow of having a coward for a mentor had paid off.
She gave the tom a brisk nod, acknowledging his own effort against her, before stepping away. This was arguably an activity that Bloodstrike would've enjoyed far more than she did. As relaxed as she had felt while sparring with her kits, there was a distinctly bitter taste left in Smokefeather's mouth that he couldn't be here with his clanmates.

Graybird met the Asylum cat's goofy grin with a deadpan expression. If the winter games were supposed to be fun, the last thing she wanted to do was giggle and act like friends with the Asylum, but she supposed that she couldn't back out now. If anything, she would enjoy the opportunity to beat an Asylum cat. She responded to the swipe to her shoulder by making an attempt to push the tom off of his paws so that she would be able to pin him.

The tom staggered jokingly as the she-cat reached out, exaggerating the pain.... Until he felt his paw twist under him. His face scrunched and he bit back a pained yowl as he swiftly took his weight off of it, standing lopsided and embarrassed. "Err, well, umm... Looks like I won't get to spar with you after all. Please forgive me." The tom spoke with a strained voice before limping away to inspect his twisted paw.
