SkyClan Apprentice Games

Flashpaw had been the first to arrive, and if he was honest, he was pretty nervous. He was.....not the best hunter. There was no denying that. But he tried! He decided that for now he was going to start off semi-easy. He still needed a rare catch if he wanted to win, though. And as luck would have it, he spotted a lizard on one of the trees. Now to catch it.....

And a stupid Asylum cat got in his way. Flashpaw ran right into them, and cursed as the lizard scurried away. He was so annoyed, he raised his paw and batted the rogue, although he was not allowed to use claws, sadly. "Watch where you're going you piece of foxdung! Some of us are trying to hunt! Something you mangy rogues set up!"

Flashpaw used front paw blow, dealing 4 damage and costing 5 stamina. (lost 5 SP from the hunt as well)

The apprentice Asylum Cat had been waiting patiently in the shadows of a bush. So patiently in fact that he'd nearly forgotten what he was there for. Then boom.. a clan cat within striking range.... right in his face even. The savage spit at him and even had the gall to whack him first... "...Please tell me you can hit harder than that... Savage." The apprentice-aged Asylum cat of midnight black taunted. His amber eyes flashed with excitement before he charged forward. His claws were sheathed, but he was ready to lay some serious smack-down on this savage clan cat. He stood on his hind legs and reacted with an attack of his own. He knew the rules however, and he wasn't about to use his claws. He would however, not hold back on throwing his weight and strength into each blow. They were training to become warriors, right? They should be able to handle a bit of pain.

Rage bubbled inside of Flashpaw. Dawnhawk had said for him not to question the Asylum, but in his defense, he wasn't questioning. He had reason to be mad other than the takeover. The loss of his prey! So he did not break their deal, in technicality. So with his lips drawn back, he leapt on top of the Asylum cat, using his weight to smash him to the ground.

"So, I'm a savage, huh? Don't worry, mousy, this savage can do much worse than this. You'll only be sore for a few days. Gonna be humiliating to be beaten by me, though, huh?"

Savage... that word made even the pale and gold tom from Skyclan mad. This tom was no different and pounced at the insult. The Asylum Apprentice went down without much noise, but just as quickly slipped out from the grip of the clan cat's paws and rolled back to his own feet. His tail tip twitched, but instead of any kind of hissing or spitting like the other tom had done, the Asylum apprentice simply nodded once, a toothy grin on his face.

"Calm down Squeaky, it's my job to antagonize clan cats if they wander too closely while hunting. This is part of the game!" His voice held no hostility whatsoever. With that out of the way, the apprentice performed the cat equivalent of a flourishing bow.

"Back to your hunting, Squeaks. I'm out." And with that, the Asylum Apprentice retreated with surprising swiftness into the woods. Even his paws had left no scent.

OOC: Asylum Apprentices are basically predators, so they can retreat once at half HP, as per predator rules as well. Victory for Flash. :)

Flashpaw's jaw dropped as he watched the Asylum cat leave without a trace of ever being there. Well now he knew to at least be on guard for Asylum cats as well as prey. Though it was ridiculous that they were antagonizing the Clans. Weren't they supposed to be trying to get along? If he actually cared for Dawnhawk, he might question this with the so-called deputy, but as it stood, he despised that poor excuse of a cat.

The rustle of a bush behind him signaled near by prey, and he could spot the ears of a hare. Stalking ever so silently, he made his way forward. And then he stepped on a twig. He really wished he had WindClan's speed right about now, as he watched his quarry run off, out of reach.

Not to be outdone, Leafpaw decided to join the games after watching her brother attempt to catch a hare.

"Nice catch," she called out, trying to mask her own insecurities about hunting.

She hadn't had the chance to work with Sunflower yet. To be brutally honest, she didn't know a lot about it.

"StarClan help me," she muttered, slinking behind a tree stump. Maybe she could find something?

She sniffed out a mouse, and bounded after it. A bit too loudly, because the small creature skittered away from her before she could find it again.

"Mouse-dung," she growled, getting outwitted by the tiny rodent.

Leafpaw failed to catch a rodent, costing 5 SP.

Sparkpaw wouldn't just roll over and let the other apprentices compete in the games without him. If that little battle with Dawnhawk had taught him anything, it was that he couldn't simply lie in wait and let opportunities come to him. He had to grasp the bird by its wings and steer it in his favor. Of course, he wouldn't stoop so low that he'd cheat. He would play fair and square and maybe, just maybe, he'd impress Dawnhawk. That was something Sparkpaw quickly learned he needed to do if he wanted to have an amicable relationship with his mentor. Drawing in a deep breath, the apprentice flex his claws and sniffed the air.

Being winter, there wasn't much he could smell. There was a faint trace of squirrel, but Sparkpaw didn't want to waste his time on something any apprentice worth their claws could catch. He padded about and eventually caught the scent of a hare. The white and ginger tom wondered how many apprentices had tried to catch this particular hare recently. It was prey that would surely win him a place at the top if he managed to catch it!

Nose lowered to the ground, Sparkpaw followed the hare's scent trail to a small clearing in the forest. There wasn't much cover, but there the hare was, crouched behind some withered grass and nibbling on something without a care in the world. The wind was blowing in Sparkpaw's favor, but if the hare saw him, which it very well could with such little cover, he'd be done for.

Sparkpaw crept closer and closer to the hare, holding his breath, and placed his paws carefully so as not to disturb any grass or twigs. He was finally close enough to the prey to see the individual hairs on its pelt and just as he prepared to spring, the wind shifted direction. 'Mousedung!' The hare bolted upright and swiveled to look at Sparkpaw, who instantly leaped into action. The hare was just a smidge too fast and as Sparkpaw's claws closed around the hare, it bounded away.

Shaking himself, Sparkpaw stood upright, but the hare was already gone. small tufts of white fur were stuck between his paws, a harsh reminder of just how close he'd come to catching the animal. Jaw set with determination, the young tom spun around and lifted his nose to try tracking another animal. The hare, undoubtedly, long gone by now.
