Subject: Thistlekit's Apprentice Ceremony Mon 20 May 2024 - 20:30
RAPIDFIRE
Oh I love it and ...
Despite how busy and overwhelmed she sometime felt - her absolute favorite part of her job was getting to do the apprentice ceremonies. Maybe it was because she got to see the clan gathering around as one to celebrate. Maybe admitedly - she liked the spotlight a little bit. Maybe it was because it reminded her of her own youth, back when things were simpler.
Getting a ceremony made the day so much easier - it allowed her to have something good to focus on and so begun her tradition of starting ceremonies late in the afternoon - so that all morning even if exhausted from the lack of sleep of her litter - she could keep something that she truely looked forward to.
She was getting better at climbing tallrock too now as she hopped up and glanced down at the camp clearing below she smiled a bit reciting the familiar words "Let all clanmates gather for a clan meeting"

Leopardpaw was one of the first to settle down, having already spent much of the day following Rapidfire or one of the other warriors performing tasks when the meeting was called. He figured he knew what it would be about, judging from the shine in his mentor's eyes, and quickly his gaze darted to the nursery. It revealed nothing to him for the moment, but he was sure any moment now one of his siblings would emerge and the ceremony would start. Thank StarClan he had already readied fresh moss in wait of his littermates. The apprentice settled near the front of the crowd and waited as patiently as he could for the ceremony to begin.
Thistlekit was not as quick to join the meeting as other kits might have been, but eventually the tom did settle down. It was clear to him that either he or one of his littermates were to be apprenticed, seeing as Leopardpaw already had been. The only question was which one of them would be next?
He saw Leopardpaw among the crowd, right at the front as if this was his own ceremony. Thistlekit himself had chosen to remain closer to the nursery. If he was being honest, apprenticeship did not hold much weight in his mind. It was when a cat became a warrior that they were to be celebrated. So why Leopardpaw was so excited, Thistlekit had no idea.
Why did he dread the idea of sharing a den with Leopardpaw again?

Rapidfire watched as the clan gathered around. Her own apprentice was one of the first to arrive. Thistlekit seemed to be more observing and logical from what she could tell so far and had gotten to know from being around the nursery with her own litter.
She thought about the possible mentors for him. She got a bit of an idea drawing on some similarities between her own sibling and that of these two - Crakeburn and Leopardpaw were both competitive by nature whereas herself and Thistlekit were more observant perhaps. Pairing them together could let both of them learn from one another just as she hoped would happen between Leopardpaw and herself.
Her mind was made up and she knew her sister would do amazing as a mentor.
"Thistlekit, please step forward. You have reached the age of apprenticeship and from this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Thistlepaw. Your mentor will be Crakeburn"
She climbed down off the tallrock getting a lot better at it now with all the practice of recent and went over to go congratulate the newly named apprentice.

Another ceremony for the family! Quickkit was buzzing with excitement yet again. This time, it was Thistlekit's turn. She didn't get to hang out with Thio as often as she would've liked, but she hoped that that would change when they were all apprentices. She can already imagine all the cool battles they'll fight side by side and all the prey they'll catch for the clan. Oh, stars! She couldn't wait for hers!
When Thio's mentor was finally named and her brother had earned his apprentice name, Quickkit wasted no time in leading the chant, "Thistlepaw! Thistlepaw!"
As with Leelo's ceremony, she barely held off sprinting to her sibling just until the ceremony had officially concluded. It was only then that the gangly she-kit hurried to her brother's side to be the first to congratulate him.
"Congrats, Theo~" she sang. "You're a 'paw now, Theo! Are you excited to start hunting and fighting and patrolling? I can't wait for mine so I can join you and Leelo at the apprentice's den. Save me a nice spot for my nest, mkay?" She nudged his cheek affectionately with her nose.
So, this was his ceremony? Making his way to the front of the crowd, he listened as he was given his new name, and a mentor. Crakeburn. He couldn't say that he had ever met that cat, but he supposed he would have plenty of time to learn who she was. He was about to find her when his sister came rushing towards him.
He supposed Crakeburn could come to him.
"We'll already have your nest ready just for you when you join us. Don't you worry about that, Quickkit. I look forward to sharing a den with you again." While he did not use a nickname the way his sister did, a smile still played at his lips as he spoke to her. He wouldn't admit to the purr that rumbbled in his chest at her affection, but it was certainly there.
Now I'm slippin' through the cracks of your cold embrace
Leopardpaw was amongst the first to call out his brother's new name. He was aware of Thistlepaw's lack of... enthusiam, when it came to interacting with Leopardpaw. The black tom hoped that soon, his brother would realise that he only ever wanted what was best for his family and Clan; and that meant becoming the best warriors they could be and meeting the expectations of their bloodline. The black tom lingered back as Quickkit congratulated their brother; he knew, reluctantly, that his sister's presence was more welcome than his own. That did not deter him, however, from stepping forward to give Thistlepaw a firm nod. "Congrats. I look forward to training with you." He reserved the upmost respect for his family, even when it was rarely ever returned.
"Thistlepaw! Thistlepaw!" She cheered as loud as she could for her brother, hopping up next to him to rub her face against his shoulder. "I put you nest riiiight next to mine so we can see each other even in our dreams! And later we can race across the moore, alright? Oh, I'm so excited! We should train together soon!"
Falconkit was sprawled out near the nursery, as was becoming habit, throughout the ceremony. It was a good vantage to watch his siblings walk to the front of the Clan--until the crowd swallowed them, at least. His eyes followed Thistlekit until he couldn’t see him anymore. A few short words later, and his brother was suddenly a ‘paw. A lot of them were becoming ‘paws. Falconkit idly wondered when his own ceremony would come before getting to his paws.
Most of his siblings were already crowding around their newly named brother by the time he arrived, but that didn’t stop Falconkit from wedging himself between them to butt Thistlekit’s shoulder with his own. ”’Grats, Thistle,” he said warmly. ”Try to have a little fun with it, yeah?”
