As the Clan erupted into cheers for his newly-named daughter, Sootstorm sought out the rest of his litter. He met their eyes, giving the smallest of nods, as if to assure them that their turn was coming. And it was. As the cheers grew softer, he raised his tail for silence. "let all cats stay gathered!" He called out, satisfied when he saw his kits' gazes light up. As sad as he was to see them go, he couldn't wait to watch them grow into strong, loyal warriors.

Crakepaw stayed nestled up to her mother's side, having distanced herself just a bit to not seem too shy or over-reliant on Fennelbreeze. There was still more news to come, and she would behave accordingly. After all, it wasn't just her being apprenticed. Looking towards the rest of her littermates, her folded ears perked up to see just who would be next.

Rapidkit fell silent soon after letting dad speak once more... Crakepaw got to go first but now who was up she wondered?
She looked at the rest of her siblings with a little bit of a curious tilt to her head.

The ceremonies were far from over, Heatherkit knew that. As the calls from Crakepaw's subsided, her curled ears perked to listen for who would be called next. She looked up at Sootstorm, willing her father to call her name next. It has to be me. Come on, dad, me next!

Sootstorm gave a single nod to Heatherkit, confirming the kit's thoughts, then raised his voice so that everyone could hear him declare his daughter's new name. "Heatherkit, step forward. You have now reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice," He began, "From now until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Heatherpaw. Your mentor will be Tallshadow." He trusted his adopted son, and knew that he was fond of his little siblings. Tallshadow's first apprentice had also been, well, Sootstorm winced at the memory of Berrypaw. Tallshadow had been extremely sick at the time, but he must have felt responsible for his first apprentice's death all the same. Hopefully, having a new apprentice might help him move past it.

Tallshadow joined in calling out Crakepaw’s new name, a bubble of pride rising in his chest. It gave him a little bit of hope, to see the newest additions to his family growing up. Times were cruel, the journey was harsh, but despite everything WindClan was still growing. Despite all they had lost, to illness, to hunger, to sickness, there were things gained as well. One large ear flicked towards Sootstorm in subtle surprise. The tom didn’t think he’d be chosen to take on another apprentice, much less Heatherkit. He felt that familiar squeeze of grief, both for Berrypaw and his own littermate, but he shoved it back down. The stars kept giving, despite everything they took, and he was determined not to lose another sister or another apprentice.
He stood, suddenly towering over his seated clanmates. The golden tom reached the front of the crowd in a few long strides, a lithe grace hanging off his slender frame as he navigated through the gathered cats. He dipped his head slightly to Sootstorm, a silent thanks for the honor his father had given him, and then bent down to touch noses with Heatherpaw. It was a far reach, and the lanky warrior had to duck his head a little, but they managed. “I’ll do my best to teach you well. Congratulations, little sister.”

Galestorm raised his voice to call out Heatherpaw's name next. "Heatherpaw!" he yowled from Cloudypetal's side. Though there had been so much loss since leaving the lake, there had also been so much good. These new apprentices marked the start of a new chapter for WindClan. Galestorm was proud to be able to watch them grow. His heart swelled as he watched Tallshadow receive his new apprentice. Much deserved, he thought. He got to his paws and padded over to the two cats.
"Congratulations, Heatherpaw," he meowed, "and to you, Talldhadow. You'll be an amazing mentor!" He gave his friend's shoulder playful headbutt. "You'll both do great." His amber eyes shone proudly as he gave the two cats a dip of his head and he melted away into the swathe of pelts to rejoin his sister. After all, he thought, this ceremony is far from over.

Cloudypetal grinned wide when she realized that Tallshadow had been given an apprentice. About time! She thought, remembering how good he was with her and Galestorm back in the day. He'd make an incredible mentor. She yowled as loud as she could in hopes that Heatherpaw could hear her. She was proud of the little thing - it felt just like yesterday that litter had been born. The days have gone by so fast.
Her whiskers twitched, watching Galestorm immediately raise to his paws to go greet them. She'd have to do that, too, after this meeting. It was inevitable that it would continue to stretch on and she had finally warmed her paws!

As her gaze turned to find her new mentor, Heatherpaw blinked up at him in surprise. Despite playing around Tallshadow as a kit, she had never realized quite how appropriate his warrior name was. Her bright coat was greyed by his shadow. As their noses touched, her eyes squeezed shut. This was the first step to be the best that she could. Pride bubbled up, making her forget that Crakekit had managed to get named before her. None of that mattered. While the clan called her name, the new apprentice's ears perked and a determined smile lit her maw as she stood up straighter.
"I'll be the best apprentice you've ever had, Tallshadow. The best apprentice in the whole forest!" Despite her normally more grounded nature, the enthusiasm that bubbled up in her chest was spilling over. Windclan's pride flowed through Heatherpaw and she felt that her pelt was positively glowing in that moment. She turned her head to run her tongue over her shoulder just in case the fur had become ruffled by the few short movements. As Galestorm joined them, she looked up at him to offer another cheerful thanks, "I can spar with you both someday to learn the best fighting skills."
Although her head was still abuzz with the desire to move into a more useful role, to drink in all the warrior knowledge she could, Heatherpaw knew that her siblings were about to receive their names too and she couldn't wait to have them at her side.
