Frigid wind wafted down from the mountains, sending a freezing chill amongst the lake and the territories that the clans had made their temporary home. Although frigid, and the ice encasing most streams, the winter was decidedly a bit milder than the forest back home. Those who could not make it to the main gathering came together, sharing stories and companies for the night.

Not their usual Gatherings by any means—but this makeshift clearing would have to do, at least for now. Thrushnose padded into the space with a chill flowing through his pelt, head lifted despite the nauseating sickness threatening to overcome his senses and cloud his mind. The tom allowed his muzzle to rest on a nearby rock, laying down and curling his fur around fluffy body close to keep as much warmth to himself as possible. Maybe there'd still be something interesting going on today.

Thrushnose is sick, but is open for convo!

Wiggleworm

Wiggleworm doubled over, spasms racking through his thin frame, and heaved for a moment before his stomach finally settled. Nothing came up, though, except for some water he'd drank earlier and a bit of stomach bile. Lip curling from the bitter taste in his mouth, the spotted tom shifted in his nest and tilted his head to look out at the mostly empty clearing. Majority of the clan had left for the gathering, but he and some other very sick cats had opted to stay behind and rest.

Further out in the camp, he spotted Thrushnose curled up - presumably snoozing. Much of Thunderclan had been hit hard by the mystery illness and things only seemed to be getting worse for many of them. Wiggleworm blinked slowly, trying to scan the clearing for his kin or maybe some of his friends. His tail tapped incessantly on the edge of his nest as he looked around before his attention finally snagged on Softpaw. She was just as ill as him and, as a result, had decided to stay behind tonight as well. Probably for the best - wouldn't want to spread the disease.

Perhaps, since they were about as sick as possible, it would be safe to call her over? It wasn't like he would contaminate her more than she already was. Lifting his head, Wiggleworm fought a brief wave of nausea and tried to make eye contact with his friend. "Softpaw-" A bought of coughing broke off the rest of what he was going to say, and Wiggleworm hunched over, struggling to draw in a single breath.

Miserable. Was there really any other word to describe it? At some point Softpaw had stopped trying to fight the mysterious illness, stopped trying to keep her belly filled with anything at all, and had resigned herself to sleeping her life away. The refusal to eat had resulted in Softpaw thinning even more than she already had. Her bones had become more noticeable these past couple moons, but she didn't let it get to her. At least in her dreams she could escape the sickness, at least until she inevitably woke up in the middle of a coughing fit.

Awakened by something new this time, Softpaw gagged in her nest. A pitiful amount of liquid escaped her lips and stained the edge of her nest. Not caring enough to move herself, the apprentice lowered her head once more and closed her eyes. Her dreams would take her away from all of this, they would- Silver eyes poked out towards the familiar voice that had called her name. Wiggleworm, one of the few cats she had decided she liked, had called for her. Softpaw opened her mouth to call back to the tom, but nothing came out. Her mouth was dry enough to the point of hurting, now filled with the taste of bile. With much effort the molly pushed herself to shaky paws. Each step felt like it would be her last but eventually she arrived at the tom's nest, collapsing just beside it. Groaning slightly at the touch of the snow on her already chilled body Softpaw wormed her way into the tom's nest, prodding him with her muzzle until he made enough room for her to comfortable lay with him. Wiggleworm's body did little to help her chills, but she could feel something working.

Camp felt so quiet and empty, every cat left behind too sick to hobble more than a few tail lengths at best from their nests. All the cats most familiar to Silverpaw had left for the gathering, and she could not accompany them. Shivers wracked their frail body, her eyes struggling to stay open. Desperately she wanted to rest, but they had awoken from another night terror, and with a pounding head and leaking sinuses sleep would not taken Silverpaw as easily as they would like it too. The apprentice's bleary vision scanned over the forms of her remaining clanmates, checking in on them. She spotted Wiggleworm struggling, heard him gasp out for Softpaw. Silverpaw's ears ticked, wishing she had a friendship like that, that they could rely on others. So far her only real crutch had been their own stubbornness. They watched as Softpaw joined Wiggleworm, and let out a huff of hot air. Silverpaw laid their heavy head on her paws, feeling tired and bitter.
