Practice Makes Perfect[C]

Tawnyshadow was glad that even if Nightpaw hadn't been exiled for his crimes, he was at least demotted to an apprentice. As if to go through the learning of the Warrior Code like every other apprentice again. And to further assist the clan's apprentices in their training, she had decided to take Nightpaw out to repeat the Warrior Code to him again. Glancing over her shoulder at the far bigger tom, she found it odd that of all things, this cat, now ready to be an elder, was in need of guidance. It didn't feel right calling her senior "-paw". Well, it was just something she would have to get used to.

The she-cat stopped once they had reached their designated location: A small clearing, surrounded by ferns to minimize the possibility of another cat coming across them. She was here to teach Nightpaw, not humiliate him, and having other cats butting in certainly wouldn't help her goal. She sat down and gestured with a flick of her tail for the former leader to do the same. "I'm not here to shame you, Nightpaw, nor am I here to train you in skills that we both know already suppresses mine. I'm here to help you understand the Warrior Code, which you so obviously need a reminder of. You will repeat the Warrior Code to me until I am satisfied that you understand it well. You may start whenever you are ready," Tawnyshadow instructed, then curled her tail around her paws and starred at Nightpaw with a blank expression on her face as she waited for the tom to start.

OOC: I'm suddenly glad that I've been scolded and punished by my teachers so many times. Writing this had been as easy as cake :)

Nightpaw was reluctant to allow his clanmates to boss him around, having trouble deciding if it was out of maliciousness or a willingness to teach, but it seemed to him that the she-cat he had given her warrior name to decided to fall within the maliciousness category, going strong with a snark. "If this is how you teach your peers, then mentorship is not for you." He snapped. "Watch your tone with me, Tawnyshadow don't forget who you're still speaking too." But he followed Tawnyshadows prompt to sit.

If anything he felt humiliated, he knew the code, as well as the fact that his word was law. He didn't actually have to let this happen, he was still the mouthpiece of god.

"Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.

Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.

Elders, queens, sick or injured cats and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.

Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.

A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.

Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.

The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires, or is exiled.

After the death, retirement, promotion, or exile of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.

A Gathering of all Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.

Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.

The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.

An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.

A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet."

Nightpaw spat each line. He knew the code, he didn't need to relearn it, and he hoped to make it known very clearly that he was not happy. He made sure to punctuate just a little more firmly the third to last rule, pointedly. Nightpaw breathed out of his nose with a great big sigh, tapping his paws against the mossy floor.

As expected, Nightpaw was quick to remind her that he was still her leader, and that the Warrior Code said that the Leader's word was the Code. Tawnyshadow didn't mind. She wasn't here to suck up to anyone, nor was she here to mess with anyone. She was only doing what she needed to do for the better of her clan.

Nightpaw repeated the Warrior Code word for word. Good, so he was familiar with the code after all. Pity he had no respect for it. "Repeat it again," was all she said once he was done.

Nightpaw sighed heavily, annoyance prickling at his skin like mosquito bites, wondering himself at how much he was willing to tolerate this. He could be doing something else, some menial task like collecting moss and changing out nests, but out here he was just having a lay down repeating a code to Tawnyshadow who was likely having some sort of power trip.

OOC: Time skip because even I wouldn't want a roleplayer to copy and paste the Warrior Code seven times. Nightpaw repeated the code five more times.

Tawnyshadow flicked her tail with satisfaction as Nightpaw repeated the Warrior Code yet again. Hopefully that would be enough for Nightpaw to think of the Code before doing something as drastic as having a fling with Thunderclan's leader. "You may go now. I hope this has been a valuable lesson to you," She mewed without a hint of pity. The tom's mouth must be dry by now. "Oh, and if you ever have any questions regarding the Code, feel free to ask any of your warriors." It was both a jab at how only he had crumbled while his warriors stood steadfast, and a reminder that he was now an apprentice, lower in rank than even the youngest of warriors.
