New Leaves, Old Bones [OPEN]

Brackenwing stretched outside the elder's den. She had little intention of moving from the spot she had claimed. The weather had grown warmer recently, and for once the air did not have a bitter chill when the wind blew and she was content to enjoy the feeling of the sun on her marbled tabby fur. It wasn't quite sunhigh yet, but she wagered patrols would be returning soon enough. For now though, the camp was quiet enough to enjoy being out of the elder's den for a little while.

"Brackenwing." Tigerdance greeted, with a slight dip of his head. The new warrior hardly had a chance to speak with the she-cat, the last time being at his warrior ceremony, but now that he had some free time, and she seemed to be willing.. Well here he was. "How is the Elder's den treating you?" He asked simply. There wasn't much of anything to share on his part so simple small talk would have to do for now.

Eaglepaw was a chipper, energetic tom: Friendly but not overbearing and usually had a positive outlook on things.

Today, he was assigned to elder duties. He grabbed a nice sized rabbit from the pile and trotted over to the elder den to find Brackenwing stretched out in the sun, well she looked comfy enough.

"Here ya go" he purred giving it to her. Well that wasn't so hard at all for all the complaining Jaypaw did about chores.


Batsong followed a short time later carrying a bundle of herbs to help with the pain bracken had in her back and leg. Batsong couldnt be for certain but it seemed that something had popped out when Nighstar had lured Brackenwing onto the thunderpath. Whatever had slipped or popped out was never really a fixable thing. It pained her to not have the ability to fix this. She had worked and studied alot of her life to learn the arts of med cats and now she felt helpless once again not able to help her younger "sister".

At least she looked content enough for now kinda. She glanced at eaglepaw, "fresh b-bedding for her?"

the apprentice blinked having forgotten that and scampered off to go fetch some.

As much as Batsong had wanted fresh bedding for Brackenwing, she had wanted also to speak to her alone briefly.

"I m-met an old f-friend recently. S-silverwing s-stopped by she sends her best" she whispered quietly while she prepped the herbs and set them beside the meal her sister also had. She didnt need anyone more than necessary to know that Silver was still around somewhat, while silver and her were still good friends, silver had landed herself in alot of trouble and a big mess

(Sorry! Reaper posted when I was writing but I dont want to ignore Tigerdance so let me add on the following)


Batsong had not noticed Tigerdance at first she gave a shy wave to the new warrior with her tail. She didnt know him very well yet and until she did she was pretty reserved and quiet.


Eaglepaw came back a short while later with the moss for Brackenwing and once he set up the new nest he was glad to see Tigerdance there, he must have really cool stories of what being a warrior was like and he was still relatible since he was a newer warrior. He sat close to Tigerdance wanting to be like him sorta

It wasn't long before her quiet was interrupted, but Brackenwing was happy to see Tigerdance padding towards her. "The elder's den is perfectly boring, though I suppose that's a good thing compared to the alternative." She smiled up at Tigerdance. "How's being a warrior?"

One of the apprentices - Eaglepaw? - padded up with a rabbit, and Brackenwing offered him a nod, "Thanks." Batsong was behind him, and the elder purred at seeing her sister. The quiet word about Silverwing made her frown at the herbs. She was glad to know Silverwing was doing well, but she worried for her friend all the same. "Thanks for letting me know. That's good." She muttered quietly in response, "More herbs?" She practically pouted. She tugged the rabbit closer with a paw as the apprentice went about fixing up the bedding in the den, glancing back toward Batsong and Tigerdance.

"Either of you want some of this?" It was only polite to offer, the rabbit was a large one, too.

Green eyes glanced at the growing crowd that seemed to almost appear out of nowhere. The lanky tom didn't really know most of these cats, except for Brackenwing someone who he wanted to keep up with even though she was stuck to the warrior's den now. "Warriorhood is fine, I'm trying my best to learn more though." There was always more for him to learn that was for certain. Tigerdance glanced down at the rabbit. "I can share with you. I haven't really eaten much today." The tom sat near the prey, making sure to keep some room for personal space. He didn't want to make the elder uncomfortable.

Sootkit saw the slowly increasing crowd of cats, and made up his mind that whatever they were doing, he was going to join in. And so, the small one-moon-old tom-kit ran towards the crowd, nearly tripped over a warrior's tail, and skidded to a halt in front of the elder, Brakenwing. "Hello! What are you doing? Can I join?" He chirped, jumping up and down to get the elder's attention.
