Starry Knights (closed)

The moon hung high in the sky, weakly illuminating the murky water that Sablestrike lead his patrol through. He didn't like having to wander through the deeper parts of Shadowclan's territory, but the scent of a predator had popped up near the camp. Something had to be done about that. The presence of his fellow warriors gave Sablestrike courage, the mud that had already began to swallow his legs had no effect on the tom, each invisible step confident. Stronger, the scent of fox was growing very strong now. They were close. Sablestrike paused, lifting his tail to signal the other stop as well. Eyes scanned the horizon a couple of moments before they finally snapped to the form of two foxes a little ways away. It seemed like they area that they occupied wasn't as deep as the water that the Shadowclanners waded through, though it would still be a problem to fight in. Four warriors, one new one seasoned, and... Truthfully he wasn't sure how to classify Locustcall, much of that cat was still an enigma to Sablestrike. "Everyone ready?" The tom said in a hushed voice. Two foxes hadn't been part of his plans, but they were all capable warriors. They would make quick work of these traspassers.

Swiftheart followed along silently as they pursued the predators trail. Sablestrike had taken point on this patrol and she was very glad to see that the tom was building on his leading abilities even if just a patrol for now. She still regarded him as a good leader and with more practice would only get better.

She narrowed her eyes spotting the foxes he pointed out and gave a silent nod. Locustcall and herself had grown up together, Nightstar and Locust always tried to outcompete each other back then and she knew he was a very capable fighter and warrior so even the suprise of 2 foxes did not make her worried.

She had grown alot since her initial run in with foxes and was much more experienced now. This should be manageable.

She stayed hidden in the shadowy cover waiting for the signal to ambush their intruders

Crouched beside Swiftheart was Harriertalon, one of ShadowClans newly appointed warriors. This would be her first battle with her new name and she wasn't about to let it end like it did with the dogs who attacked camp. They could easily do this, though. Sablestrike was in the lead! Locustcall was here as well, and she knew his fighting style all to well from when she was an apprentice.

Keeping Sablestrike in sight, she nodded, waiting for his signal.

With his patrol mates affirmative nods, Sablestrike slowly began to wade forward. The muddy water that had been trying to claim him began to spit him out, and with the extra freedom the tom burst forward. He didn't bother giving a battle cry, that was only needed for honorable fights. Foxes deserved no such honor. Sablestrike leapt at the fox nearest to him, claws ripping through the predator's flank and earning a surprised cry from his victim. The shock of the situation didn't seem to impact the beast for long however, as it instantly turned and planted its teeth firmly in the tom's back. Pain blazed through Sablestrike, and the warrior countered with another slashing of his claws at the beast's face. The fox's grip on Sablestrike only worsened at that.

As soon as Sablestrike leapt into action, Swiftheart was right behind him. She choose to go for the other fox not wanting it to be free to attack Sable's back when he was busy with the first.


She had been learning a new technique from others in her clan when fighting in the marshes like this. She tried it out here sending med right into her opponents face and eyes and then smacking the foxs head down into the muck. This second fox could try and fight them temporary blind now.

The dark she-cat could only manage a furious hiss as Fox #1 sank its teeth into Sablestrikes back. It was bound to happen in battle, but seeing it was still distressing. Launching forward, Harriertalon raked her overgrown claws against Fox #1's side, triumphant that she made contact with already torn flesh.

Harriertalon used Front Paw Strike on Fox #1, dealing 7 damage and costing 7 SP.

The advent of another cat, and the subsequent raking of claws along wounded flesh was enough of a shock for the FOX #1 that its grip loosened on the tom. One more quick swipe at the fox's nose and Sablestrike was able to slip out of the thing's maw. He wanted to thank Harriertalon for the assistance, but his opponent wouldn't allow him enough time to do so. It was quick to recover, already barreling toward him once more with snapping teeth. Sablestrike ducked to the side of the snapping maw, placing a bite of his own on the fox's neck. The pain that bled across his back kept the strength from his bite, but it was still a clean hit nonetheless.

The surprise of having a cat of all things attack one of their own left FOX #2 shocked. It stared as the feline attacked, only to be practically swallowed by its companion in return. The situation finally began to make sense, but as the fox began to move to help its companion a hefty glob of mud clouded its vision. A high pitched yip left the fox as it shook its head, but as it tried to free its vision of the obstruction paws landed on its head, slamming the fox into the mud. The fox hacked as it righted itself, shaking violently to clear its sight once more. Pain seared across the fox's flank as claws ripped at it. Another yelp escaped, and the fox took a couple of steps back.
