In the backside of the barn, a small, chipped hole can be found in the base of the wooden wall, accidentally made by the farmer earlier that day. It is just large enough for a cat to fit through. Although it is possible for a cat to safely escape under the cover of night, dogs still lurk around each corner…
Characters must escape through the hole in the barn wall! For a successful escape, you must roll the effect die. A result of 1 - 4 will ensure your character a safe escape! A roll of 5 or 6, though, will result in a dog fight.
If your character has already successfully escaped, they may turn back to assist those in battle with a dog! A maximum of 2 dogs can be alerted.

Whisperear
Whisperear had noticed the hole that was made earlier in the day. They pointed it out to Brackenwing earlier, and they had made quiet plans to try and escape that night. The dogs were still out, but if they were careful enough, they could get out together. Now that night had fallen, it was time to try and enact their plan.
They volunteered to go first. Slipping through the hole was easy enough. Though they were tall, they were slender and narrow, so the hole was plenty big for them. Now…the hard part. Whisperear held their breath as they crept through the grass, keeping low as though they were hunting prey. Don’t notice me…Don’t notice me…
They kept their eyes on the sleeping dog just a few paces away. The tall grasses obscured Whisperear and they hoped that their scent was not enough to wake the beast. The dog shifted and rolled, but did not awaken. Whisperear froze and watched as it settled before continuing. Once they made it to the end of the property at the wooden fence, they leapt through the gap and felt freedom instantly wash over them. They breathed out shakily and then turned back to watch anxiously at the barn. Brackenwing would follow closely, and they prayed to StarClan that she would be as lucky as they were in not alerting the dogs.
Whisperear successfully escaped the farm! They are waiting on the other side of the fence for Brackenwing so they can return home together.

Whisperear had pointed out a hole in the farm's perimeter that hadn't been there a few days ago, and Brackenwing felt a glimmer of excitement at the knowledge of it. The twoleg hadn't seemed to notice it yet, or simply didn't care, but Brackenwing was under no illusion that it wouldn't stay that way for long, so of course they had to act quickly. Even if it meant braving the dogs that were always out. No storm for the twolegs to take them in had come, much to her dismay. But perhaps if they could slip out undetected...
Night fell, and Brackenwing slipped toward the hole in the fence, every muscle tense, ears pricked and eyes darting about as she tried to make herself seem smaller. The shadows surrounding them were well and good, but it never hurt to be careful.
A bark split the night air, and Brackenwing swore under her breath as the scent of dog filled her lungs. "Foxdung!" She spat, leaping aside as the beast lumbered out of the shadows toward her. The dog barked again, tail wagging back and forth. It almost seemed excited to find something smaller than it roaming, something that wasn't off-limits.
Prey. Brackenwing wasn't dumb. That's what the dog saw in front of it. She was too close to it, the dog had the advantage of surprise despite all of her caution, and Brackenwing didn't think she would get out of this without a fight.

It was about time to hit the ol dusty trail and leave this place behind. As nice as it was, this was not his home.
Mr. Worm watched as two cats slipped through a hole in the barns wall and decided he would follow suit only to be met with sharp barking on the other side. The farm dogs! Had this been his farm, these dogs would never have batted an eye. But unfortunately for this old man he was a tresspasser.

Sablestrike watched the cats filter through the hole in the wall, waiting for the sounds of barking to be heard on the other side. The Windclanners were making themselves useful by distracting the dogs, which meant that he would be able to sneak by in the midst of their fighting. A quick glance around did not reveal Astraeus, the one cat that he actually needed to find his way home, but he wasn't about to give up a golden opportunity like this. Sablestrike slipped through the crack in the wall, only to be met with Mistworm and another dog ready to strike. Letting out a short sigh, Sablestrike rushed past the distracted beast, only to clamp his teeth down on its tail and pull with as much force as possible. "Run!" He growled to the elder through a mouthful of tail. He had seen enough of Mistworm, and this cat was no fighter. Perhaps if he could evade this dog for long enough the Windclanners would come to his aid.
Sablestrike used Tail Yank, dealing 9 (8+1) HP and costing 15 SP Night Finesse is in effect

The hole in the wall was a sign that she'd lingered long enough. Though Thalia would miss this place, it was time to leave; to make her way back to the ShadowClan cats she'd left against her will. She knew how to move swiftly and silently: she was a ShadowClan cat after all, and a Nightstriker before that. Slowly, she slipped through the opening, intending to vanish into the night. Before she could, though, she'd spotted dogs- and fellow cats, under attack. Mr. Worm was nearby, but Sablestrike was aiding him- another cat, one she vaguely recalled as Brackenwing, was also facing down a dog.
"So much for simple," she murmured, mourning the loss of an easy escape.
And then, without sparing another moment for further thought, she leapt into the fray.
"Why is it never easy?"
Thalia used Sanctum Strike, dealing 8 damage and costing 10 SP. Dog 1 is Stunned for 1 Turn.

Whisperear
Whisperear’s heart seized when the dog barked into the night air. They leapt back through the fence, and was glad to see that another cat came to aid Brackenwing in the fight…Thalia! Whisperear knew that they had good judgment of the ShadowClan cat. They threw themselves at the dog from a distance, clawing the dog’s back and earning a wail from the creature. They dropped back and swiftly took several paces behind to get up close to Brackenwing again. To Thalia they called as best as their weak voice could, “Thank you for your help!”
Whisperear used Jumping Strike on Dog 1, dealing 10 damage and costing 7 SP.
Subject: Re: The Second Farm Escape [Wave 2 Escape] Wed 18 Jan 2023 - 10:04
"Thanks." Brackenwing was grateful, though she hadn't expected one of the Shadowclanners to help. For the moment however, they were in this fight together. A dog was more important, and Whisperear had also joined in. Brackenwing sank her claws into the dog's hide as well, knowing they would have to make quick work of this to lessen the chance of anyone being injured. The old loner and Sablestrike were fighting another dog, but she had to focus on the one in front of her for now. Perhaps the dog would run off if they showed it that messing with clan cats was a bad idea.
The dog yelped as claws sank into it's black and tan hide, snarling as multiple cats attacked it. It clearly hadn't been expecting a fight, the farm cats had done nothing but avoid it while they were here, and were dull, cowardly creatures. Why now?
Brackenwing used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -10 damage. Brackenwing used Swift Strike for -10 sp, dealing -7 damage.

"We're in this together," Thalia replied to the WindClan pair. "If I could help it, I wouldn't leave anyone in need."
Wasn't that the way it was supposed to be? At least, she'd always thought so- but maybe that was a little idealistic of her. She'd always been idealistic and maybe even a bit naïve, something that was still true even now. Even if they were sometimes on opposing sides, every cat was deserving of kindness. Thalia's goals in life were quite simple: she wanted to be kind, she wanted to be helpful; she wanted to learn and to teach.
In that moment, though, she wanted to fight to defend cats that were, in some sense, her companions. She had kept primarily to herself, true, but they had lived together in some sense; that counted for something in her eyes.
It was times like this that made her grateful for her lifetime of combat training (and the long and difficult journey to feeling comfortable actually using those skills when the situation called for it), a flurry of experienced swipes and slashes unleashed on the dog without mercy.
Thalia used Front Paw Strike, dealing 10 damage and costing 7 SP!

Whisperear
Whisperear was relieved to have another cat fighting by their side. The stunning of the dog had helped them all get in several good lashes and already the dog was not looking great. Whisperear did not hold back, however, and lunged for yet another strike across the dog’s pelt.
Whisperear used Front Paw Strike, dealing 10 damage and costing 7 SP.
