Let's Spice up the Day [Hunting Competition]

The single eyed warrior sat in a clearing in Thunderclan territory, other cats around him interested in the little competition he had proposed. It had been some time since he had hosted one before, so the tom decided it was time for another. The spotted tom had a lazy smile on his face, enjoying the warmth the bright sunny day brought.

"Alright! Today we are going to be hunting to see who can catch the biggest squirrel, the cat who brings back the biggest squirrel can have first choice from the fresh kill pile, as well as bragging rights for the next while. Everyone will get two attempts at catching a squirrel, if you miss both times then that's too bad, but you can always cheer for your clanmates. I won't be participating myself, since I am the judge." The tom shifted in his spot, getting more comfortable to prepare for the wait he would go through.

"If you run into trouble, call for help and I will come assist you." The tom said, knowing sometimes predators could be lurking around every bend. "Alright! I think that covers everything, go ahead and get started!"

OOC: Welcome to a hunting competition! The rules are simple here, everyone will have a chance to catch a squirrel. If you miss, you get a second chance. But! Only two chances, if you miss both times then you are out of luck! If you catch a squirrel on your first role than that is your entry for the competition. Since we are doing biggest piece of prey, when you roll your hunting dice, you will also roll the big dice! The higher the number the bigger the piece of prey. Now if you win, well you character gets bragging rights for a while. If someone rolls a 10 then we will deal with it how we are supposed to.

Nightpaw was fairly sure of her skills, though somewhat less so when she was up against far more experienced warriors. She had been an apprentice for some time, but there wasn't any amount of training that could match the skill and experience that came with seasons of life.

That said, if there was anything she was truly and completely confident in, it was her skill at catching squirrels. She didn't always succeed- no hunter that she knew of did, to be fair- but most of the time, she could make a successful catch. She took time to survey the clearing, seeing if she could find any from her current spot, but found herself too distracted by the other cats around and instead set about actually hunting.

She looked for a squirrel that was scurrying about on the ground rather than in or next to a tree, one that was less likely to make a successful escape. It was an easy catch, trapped between her paws in a single pounce, and she delivered the killing blow to its neck swiftly before carrying it back to Starlingflare.

Molepaw was excited for the competition, but she wasn't sure how good she would do. She saw that Nightpaw had caught a squirrel right away, which made her nervous. So, Molepaw went to find her own squirrel.

Molepaw scanned the forest, finally catching scent of a squirrel a moment later. She slipped into a hunters crouch, slowly approaching the squirrel. A heartbeat later, she pounced.She

She heard bushes shiver, scaring the squirrel away. Molepaw pinned her ears back, fur bristling. Out of the bushes came a striped creature. A raccoon!

Beetleshade always welcome the chance to practice her skills, and she especially enjoyed showing off the results of her moons of training. Today was no different, though she wasn't particularly concerned with winning. She already knew how great she was, and if her clanmates hadn't realized it by now it was their loss. She had neither the need nor the desire to prove anything to anyone, but she was looking forward to the fun this challenge would bring.

Beetleshade chose a direction at random, though she hadn't taken more than a few steps when she smelled a sharp, familiar scent. Whipping around, she caught sight of the raccoon as it stood over her apprentice and immediately jumped into action, racng toward the creature and fastening her teeth into it's tail, tugging it roughly.

Beetleshade used Tail Yank, dealing 8 damage and -15 stamina. The raccoon is stunned for one turn.

Nightpaw's pride in her catch was short-lived, as Molepaw ran across a raccoon- the scent was impossible to mistake. She didn't wait for Starlingflare, though she probably should have, instead rushing forward to help defend her Clan; sharp claws slashing into the predator's flesh, accompanied by a rare show of concern. "Molepaw! Are you hurt?"

She saw Beetleshade and Nightpaw attack the raccoon, and she felt a boost of confidence raise in herself. "Thank you guys! And I'm not hurt, but I would be without you guys.." Molepaw meowed.

When Molepaw snapped at the raccoon, she killed it. She stared at it, hearing it's final breathes. I felt..enjoyment in this kill. Why do I enjoy seeing life leave this creature? Molepaw thought. She shook her head and looked at her clanmates. She smiled, quietly walking towards the other cats. " Thank you guys, I appreciate the help. " Molepaw mewed. Still having the thought of the death, she glanced at Beetleshade. Why did she enjoy that, she didn't know. So, she looked away, and sat down to take a rest.

It took a moment for Starlingflare to reach the commotion, but he had arrived. The tom noted with a slight sneer that a Raccoon had appeared.. Thorns did these things haunt him? Of course it was already taken care of, but he still felt bad that he wasn't there in time. "Good job you three. Those things are a nightmare." While it wasn't part of the competition, Molepaw could still brag about taking one down. "Did you guys wish to continue with the competition? I know Nightpaw caught something, did you want to try again?" He didn't want to force them to continue, especially seeing how this was for fun.
