Welcome to the Sky Blossom Festival: Hunting Competition! For many sunrises, a few of SkyClan's warriors have gathered together to put together a special event to celebrate the coming of Newleaf - the Sky Blossom Festival! Cats awoke in the morning to find the camp has been decorated with blossoms of all kinds. There isn't a cloud in the sky, and the sun shines down warmly on the camp, while the gentle breeze carries the sweet scents of blossoms throughout. Sunfire had organized the second of the day's events - a hunting competition for the apprentices and warriors. To celebrate rich prey returning to the forest, cats are being sent out in pairs to see who can bring back the most prey for the freshkill pile. Creamsky has gathered a variety of little rewards for winners of the competition, such as fresh moss and feathers for their nests.
RULES - Both apprentices and warriors are encouraged to join! - Participants are responsible for choosing their hunting partners. - Each hunter gets a total of 3 attempts to catch prey! - The winning pair(s) may get their choice of one of a variety of rewards, such as: a day off from duties, the first pick from the freshkill pile, or an assortment of things to help improve their nest.
Phase One: Signups [March 21st - March 23rd] During the first half of this thread, characters can enter the meadow where Sunfire is waiting, and search for their hunting partner. Once your characters have their partners, be sure to announce this in bolded text, like the following example:
Quote :
Honeydew has chosen Yewshade as her partner!
Signups will be open from the 21st through the 23rd, closing at 11:59 PM EST.
Phase Two: The Hunt [March 24th - March 30th] After signups have completed, the second phase will begin, and characters can begin performing their hunting roles. Roleplaying is of course expected, so please be sure to write about your characters going into the forest with their partners, building their relationships, etc. while you are making your rolls. You may make all 3 hunting rolls at once, or you may make them in separate posts, spaced apart.

"I hope that we can meet again one day, you and I," she mewed, "under peaceful skies."
Myrtlebloom trailed behind her brother as they made their way to the meadow where Sunfire had instructed the cats to meet, if they were participating in the hunting competition. Once they were close to Sunfire, Myrtlebloom told him she and Yewshade would be partnering up for the hunt. She then trotted a few fox lengths away and sat down. “I hope you brought you hunting claws, Yewshade!” She purred with amusement.
Myrtlebloom has chosen Yewshade as her Hunting Partner

Brackendawn approached the clearing with Honeydew, while they were still out of earshot of the tom that organised the event he leaned over to his sister. "Don't worry I'll do the talking with our lovely uncle." he snickered, hoping she'd feel better if he acted like he just thought Sunfire was an idiot. Really since what Honeydew had told him, there was a very real growing distaste where his uncle was concerned and he regretted pushing honeydew to spar with Sunfire all those moons ago. He smiled politely as he padded up to Sunfire, leaving the deputy to mingle with their competition. "Hello, Sunfire." he greeted with a dip of his head "Thanks for organising this, I'm excited to win. Oh, and I'm partnering up with Honeydew so no one else will stand a chance at all." He smiled widely, then joined his sister and clanmates.

Honeydew T2 Warrior | SkyClan Deputy | she/her
Honeydew didn't bother suppressing a small giggle while her whiskers twitched as she padded alongside Brackendawn into the meadow where Sunfire awaited. Newleaf was here, the grass was green, and the trees were budding their first leaves. Little growing things sprouted beneath every leaf, and insects and critters were starting to crawl out of their dens to greet the gentle embrace of the newleaf warmth. Even with Sunfire here at the center of this event, it was such a lovely that that her spirits could not be crushed! She wanted her uncle to feel as though she could still put her trust in him, despite everything else. He was still their clanmate, and a strong warrior of SkyClan.
"Right, thanks for hosting the competition, Sunfire," she mewed after Brackendawn. Hunting wasn't her favorite activity, but he had seemed eager to help with the Sky Blossom festivities, and this role was more than fitting for him. "That's right!" she meowed at her brother, giving him a headbutt to the shoulder. Just like the old days, Brackendawn and I teaming up! "So long as we don't run into an owl this time, right?" she laughed, and settled on her haunches.
Her eyes flickered about the clearing, settling on the approaching Myrtlebloom and Yewshade. "Hey Myrtlebloom!" she greeted her friend. Her heart fluttered a bit in her chest as she noted how fine his fur was looking today. Fearful of accidentally meeting his gaze, she turned away.
Crookedlight did not have a lot of energy most days, but he did not want to ignore the things that the new deputy organized, such as this hunting tournament. Therefore he dragged himself to the competition anyway. He watched cats run around, nabbing their partners. His ear twitched and he looked around until he spotted Creamsky. It had been ages since the two had spoken, but he still thought highly of Creamsky. If he was going to be partners with anyone—save for perhaps Rainfrost, but Crookedlight wasn’t sure he would show up—then Creamsy would be his next choice.
He approached his friend and brushed lightly against his fur. “If you don’t mind helping to carry me, I’d like to partner with you.”

Creamsky was breathing easily recently - both figurative and actually. His heart still ached with the loss of Astershine but he had taken to not trying to think of his missing mentor and focus on his duties - to do what was expected out of him. It was easier to feel better and think brighter now that leaf-bare had released its grip on the Clans and with the warmer weather, the wheezing and coughing that had plagued him had also loosened its grip. When Honeydrop had requested his aid, he had happily accepted the distraction in getting prizes and was likewise eager to actually take part.
So he sat off to the side, tail wrapped around his paws as he watched as a few of his Clanmates filtered into the clearing. His eyes fell upon Crookedlight as his friend approached, offering up the idea of partnering together. He glanced off to study the cats who had also arrived, before he turned back to Crookedlight with a smile. "Of course, I'm happy to to be your partner for this!" he meowed, pushing himself to his paws as he allowed himself to stretch out. Its been a while since he had put his all into hunting - this would be interesting.
