Faded Hope [Skyclan Finale]

There was dread in Tarot's chest as he raced towards Skyclan. He had seen the stars and seen them return, and he knew exactly what that meant. Gaze cold as he powered through, scarred form speeding through the shadows, a blur in the midst of a far too bright night. His mind raced with his last meeting with his old friend, the words traded, the truths shared. He wasn't going to let it happen, wasn't going to let him fight alone.

At the very least, he wouldn't let him be alone while he was cast down into that immoral pit Starclan had created for cats like them.

Exploding over the border he headed in the direction of the camp he had ghosted around when this chapter had first started, where those who followed Morningstar went after that fateful gathering. Upon arriving it was chaos. Cats he didn't recognize fighting those from the Dark forest, yowls ringing out, even Aether had turned against the phantoms from what he could see... unsurprising, the kit had always been shockingly full of moral ideals for being the son of Klaus.

He didn't pay attention to any of it though, instead of locking onto the sight of his old friend attacked from both sides. Of course, the clan cats cast away their fake little honour in the face of those they view as having none. Ironic seeing as how it stoops them right back down to the level of rogues and loners.

The pale tom looked like he was struggling. Perhaps if this were anyone else the loner wouldn't make a move to intervene...

He began making his way to his friend's location, trying to remain out of sight and out of mind as he stalked around the clearing through the shadows towards Morningstar.

"Honor..." He chuckled, even as he felt a strange tugging sensation on his form and the wisps of shadows were reaching out and curling around anything too close. "Only an idiot fights with honor; Most of the cats that died by my claws, for example." Not even an ounce of remorse was in his tone, but a mocking spit followed it. Smokefeather came down to hit him, but Morningstar side-stepped it and gave her a final lashing before Brairthorn's claws tore away more of his tendrils of shadows. They were trying to reach out and grab something... anything.. to stabilize him.

What was once a real fear of death had been gone from him. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to go to the Dark Forest. There, he wouldn't be treated like an outcast or be called a traitor or kit killer over and over again. No one there cared. Everyone there was either like him or like Tarot. As if the thought had summoned his friend, the dark tom appeared in the edges of Morningstar's vision. It was the only time he suddenly felt the need to try to fight to stay here, to flee if necessary... but he wouldn't. Not this time.

Morningstar had done what he needed to do in this world that had been so vehemently against him: He had survived and ruled over the forest twice. On this plane he would be forever doomed to battle foes and to be mocked to his face and behind his back. Even if he had changed his ways and gone to Starclan instead, did he really want to be there when he had put so many of them into their graves? No... there would have been no peace for him there either.

Don't grieve for me. My reward is exiting this forest that hated and ridiculed me so much. I can be with others like me... finally... I don't have to struggle and I won't be alone any longer. I will wait for you on the other side... and I will physically drag your soul to the shadows with me, friend. If only he could tell Tarot that without giving away his friend's position. If only.

Honeyfang bristled and crackled in her anger. “You’ve never died before. You don’t know what it’s like! I was a medicine cat, I swore my vows to them, and they abandoned me in the dark. No one came for me. They only cared about themselves!” Her claws were vicious as she leaped and pinned him down, breath rank and filled with bitterness

Holly yowled as the kit bit into her shoulder. She barely had a chance to think before she snatched him by the back of his neck and ripped him off. What the heck!!

Fangs sinking deeper into scruff, she tore him off of her and then slammed him ungracefully on his tail. It was with pain-fueled instinct she pinned him down with a paw. She kept him down on his back with a kind of desperate force, feeling a little ill. “Just… just stay down, you crazy — whatever you are!”

The little kit was seriously scaring her! Oh, Starclan… what did she do?! No one said what to do with a crazy murder-kit! No where did anyone tell her what to do!

Hollyshine used Leap-and-Hold on Sweeteagle, dealing 8 damage and costing 15 stamina. Because of Climber’s Grasp (+1 to chances to stun/pin), Sweeteagle is pinned for 2 turns!

Sweeteagle hissed as he was ripped away from the dark she-cat's fur. He wiggled under her paw, staring at her with narrowed eyes. "No! I wont! I better win!" The kit-sized Dark Forest warrior suddenly rolled over, swiping his claws at her as he turned.

Come on...

He shoved up her paw like it was nothing, trotting away, watching his opponent bleed. "See? I'm not a kit!"

Vixentooth scoffed, flicking her ears back in annoyance. It wasn't like she cared, anyway. These cats were more stubborn than any other kits she'd met before — and the molly narrowed her eyes, ramming her head into Dandelionflight's flanks, knocking the air out of her. Though it wasn't as efficient as it was before, it didn't matter. They were going down, anyway.
