Shrikestorm climbed to the top of the Tallrock again, preparing to address the clan. At this point, he had subconsciously funneled out the appearance of the hated intruders. It was like they weren't even there anymore, somehow. "All cats old enough to run the moors gather around the Tallrock for a clan meeting!"
Another day, another of her kits would be apprenticed. Swiftspirit quickly smoothed Sagekit's long marbled tabby fur as best she could, a soft purr rumbling in her throat before Shrikestorm called the clan together. It was a struggle not to hover over her kits, and Swiftspirit forced herself to remain sitting near the nursery, waiting for the ceremony to continue.
Sagekit wriggled free of her mother's hold, giving her a quick nuzzle before turning toward Shrikestorm. Her level gaze focused on the Tallrock, trying to conceal the nervous anticipation she felt. Taking a deep breath, she held her head high as she walked over. Today was her day.
Shrikestorm turned to Sagekit, a smile on his face. "Sagekit, you have reached the age of six moons. From now until you're ready to become a warrior, you will be known as Sagepaw. Muddyleap will be your mentor."
