shimmerkit's apprentice ceremony

"Let all cats of Thunderclan gather for a clan meeting." was his call, voice clear, but not shouting. The young deputy stood atop Highrock, his gaze searching for a certain grey-colored kit. Not wanting to seem as nervous as he had previously been made him straighten his posture so as to look more confident. The cold that froze the rock he clutched seemed to seep through his paw pads and into his bones. Cats were starting to emerge from their dens, taking their spots to listen to what he had to say. I don't think I'll ever get used to all this attention... he thought with a frosty exhale. ...but this position allows me to serve my clan with everything I have. And then there's Stoatstar as well... so it's worth it.

Reedpaw headed out of the dirt tunnel at the familiar call. The apprentice den was crowded with cats, but he felt alone without his siblings Firekit, Sweetkit, Shimmerkit and Rainkit. He sat down with his tail wrapped around his paws.

Shimmerkit jumped at the sound of Minnowfin's yowl, summoning the clan to the Highrock. It could only mean one thing. He surged towards the exit of the nursery, silently bidding his favorite shadowy corner goodbye as he passed it. This is it- my first step to becoming a brave hero of the clan! It was his apprentice ceremony, he'd be assigned to train under a great warrior, everyone would congratulate him, the whole clan would-

He almost stopped in his tracks as the realization struck him. The whole clan would watch.

He couldn't stand being the center of attention. It made him feel both frozen solid and as though he was shaking himself to pieces. The whole clan would watch his ceremony.

But he wanted to be brave. Squaring his shoulders, he put one paw in front of the other and went to face the clan.
I'm ready.

He spotted the kit, soon-to-be apprentice, coming out of the nursery. An invisible frown creased his maw, the cause being confusion. The small tom had frozen as if he'd realized something all of a sudden. Shrugging it off, the young deputy began to speak. "Shimmerkit, you have reached the age of six moons; it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Shimmerpaw. Your mentor will be Cherrycloud. She is an experienced warrior and I trust that she will pass down all she knows on to you." he meowed,  a rising confidence as the words were recited. The grey and white tom leaped down from his position and smiled, listening to the clan's cheers. I can imagine how happy he's feeling...

“Shimmerpaw! Shimmerpaw!” Reedpaw cheered for his brother. He had missed him dearly and couldn’t wait to train with him.
