There it was. The underlying feeling of dread was beginning to gather in Daystar's stomach again. She had managed to take down one of the ShadowClan warriors by sheer luck, but another one had replaced their Clanmate only a few moments afterward. Her strength was declining, and Murkystar's attack had left her dizzy once again. Was she being taught a lesson? She should've listened to the part of her head telling her that WindClan had enough territory already, but she had decided to be greedy anyway. Greed was the downfall of any cat. ShadowClan wasn't the enemy here, and they never had been in the first place... they were simply defending what belonged to them, and Daystar knew that her own Clan would do the same if RiverClan ever attempted to take the Gorge from them in the future. This battle had been fought in vain, but she still couldn't leave even if she wanted to. The next window of opportunity would be her chance to retreat, but she was still winded from the barrage of attacks that were placed upon her.

"You've lost, Daystar. Take your wounded and leave... Those that haven't already fled. I wish you all swift healing so you may face leaf-bare at your best." Murkystar growled, landing what she hoped would be the final blow to drive Daystar away.

Ratpaw eyed Mistyfalcon dubiously. If... the warrior said so. The warrior was conscious, even if he looked perhaps like he shouldn’t be. It wasn’t as if Ratpaw felt much better, and... it helped him, to be close. Like he wasn’t alone.

He was relieved, though, when Batglow padded toward them. His battle had ended, and quickly, once Burningwing had joined. The tall, pitch-black tom had a calming effect on Ratpaw, whose shoulders fell. Immediately he mewed, “Is Mistyfalcon okay? He says he’s fine, but... it’s a lot of blood...”

It felt a bit traitorous, but the thought of a warrior taking over when Mistyfalcon seemed not okay to do it himself was too powerful. At the thought, Ratpaw’s eyes wandered over to the fallen warrior — the Windclan one. She was... just lying there. He looked at Batglow uncertainly, tail gesturing in the warrior molly’s direction. ”And is there... I mean, do we leave her there?”

Once Burningwing had joined the leaders’ battle, an inevitable loss for Windclan turned into much quicker, decisive one. It wouldn’t be long, Ratpaw knew — the two cats were nearly on top of her. The rest of the Windclan leaders’ warriors had fled (and Ratpaw winced, not truly wanting to think about it) but one had never gotten up.

It wasn’t as if anyone in her clan was in a position to help her, but...

Ratpaw’s thoughts stopped when he heard Murkystar’s voice, resounding. It answered his questions, at least, about the other warrior. And filled his heart with such profound relief. Was it really over?

She needed to leave. She needed to return back to camp and see if Mistypaw was alright. At least no cats had died, although she hadn't expected any deaths considering the fact that this was a border skirmish and not a life-or-death battle. She quietly turned her head, glancing back at the scene behind her before a glimmer of worry illuminated her eyes. She knew that Ashfall had fallen, but she had no idea that she had remained unconscious all this time. She flicked her eat toward Swiftspirit to signal that they were leaving before she used her teeth to lift her mate as gently as possible before heading back to camp. Timbersun had fled too, which was probably for the best. It wouldn't have made sense for both him and Mistypaw to remain in the midst of the fight if they were too injured to continue. That had been an experience, to say the least.

As Daystar retreated with the wounded that remained, Murkystar stood on guard. While they were still within earshot, she raised her voice, her eyes never leaving their backs. "ShadowClan, we will strengthen the scent along the border. We don't want any mishaps or confusion because the scent line is muddled." Once the retreating figures disappeared into the moors, sh finally turned to her clanmates. "Well done, all of you. Batglow, Ratpaw, please help Mistyfalcon back to camp, and get looked at yourselves. Inform Frostgaze of what's happened. Burningwing and I will reinforce the scent at the border and then return ourselves." She mewed, gaze lingering on Mistyfalcon's wounded body.
