A Quiet Dusk Hunt [open hunting]

All too quickly, the battle was over. Hailpaw had to admit that she felt slightly disappointed. The thrill of battle had been extinguished almost as soon as it had been lit. As expected, small fry like a raccoon could not compare to an actual cat. If they had run into a more fearsome predator, then perhaps... The thought that surfaced in her mind at that moment was not something to be shared with her patrolmates. With a last indifferent glance at the raccoon's corpse, the white apprentice padded away. They had come out on a hunting patrol; it would be a waste to return to camp empty-pawed. It did not take long before a flash of movement at the corner of her vision caught her attention. Reacting on instinct, she pounced. The attempt was far too clumsy, and a sleek, scaly body slipped right out of her claws. As Hailpaw fumbled in the dead foliage lining the forest floor, her prey the lizard made its swift escape. By the time she tried to pursue it, there was no longer any trace of it left in the vicinity. The she-cat released a sigh, feathery tail drooping slightly.
