Why Not a Hunt? [OPEN hunting]

Camp was... Slowly coming along. Slowly. Hard work had gone into patching den walls, fixing leak, drafty roofs and generally making Skyclan's camp more livable again. It was slow going, much slower than anyone would have liked, but it was progressing. After a morning helping secure the den walls with cats she hadn't sent on patrol, Wolfblossom had stretched out on a low-hanging branch to rest for a bit... And had quickly found her paws restless. She didn't much feel like resting, and while snow covered the ground, there wasn't much to be gathered in the way of dry sticks or moss. But it for the moment the skies were clear, sunlight turning the snow bright. Birds chirped overhead.

It did not take long for Wolfblossom to make up her mind on what to do. Landing in the snow, the deputy trotted toward the camp's entrance, soon to be the only safe way into or out of camp. "I'll be heading out hunting, if anyone would like to get out of camp and stretch their legs for a bit." Wolfblossom called out cheerfully, bright blue eyes sweeping over the clanmates that were left in camp. She'd wait for them to gather before leading them toward the frozen-over creek. Even in the dead of leafbare, prey was likely to be found there.

Stormwatcher was actually helping repair dens... Thats how you know its bad when even he got off his lazy tail to help put things back together.

He actually was doing a pretty decent job at it too, amazing, what could happen when he actually attempted to care.

But stars was it repetitive and dry work. He eagerly went after Wolf with her open invite out.


"Stonepaw! Wanna come with?" he purred waving his apprentice over with his tail to see if she wanted to go...

... Wait a second! ... He didnt even like having an apprentice right?? He too late tried to look grumpier than he actually was..

"erm... or keep doing your building thing"

Doesnt matter to me! he huffed to himself in his head.

but it clearly did

He took off after wolf secretly hoping stonepaw might join along with not that he would ever directly say that though


He looked around for anything to catch. OOF this forest was so dead nothing was out here yet maybe more looking around

Marigoldmask blinked as she heard her deputy's call, and the orange and white molly stretched to her legs. Leafbare had typically meant she spent most of her patrols around the border, ensuring everything was marked. It worked especially well to her advantage, given her pelt looked like the blanket of snow that covered the forest, and her markings were simply whatever leaves still managed to peek out among the forest floor. It would be a good change from her normal for her primary focus to instead be on hunting, so she joined with the gathering cats.

Moonlily was quick to appear near the entrance of camp as she heard Wolfblossom's summon. With the camp being rebuilt she felt herself being more and more comfortable coming around it more, as there was something... new about the way it felt. So she waited, ready for when the patrol would appear to truly join in and go hunting.

Thornstalker was doing her fair share of the work when it came to helping rebuild the camp. Between plucking loose branches out of the trees overhead and adding to the dens and walls around camp, she had kept herself busy. Of course when the deputy called for a hunting patrol the small warrior couldn't help but want to join. She needed a break and hunting was the perfect chance to do so.

It didn't take long before clanmates approached. Marigoldmask and Moonlily, Thornstalker, Stormwatcher called for Stonepaw to join them, and the apprentice dutifully padded up to the group, offering a small nod in greeting. "Alright, let's head out." Wolfblossom mewed, turning and leading the patrol through the camp entrance.

The soft murmur of the creek was even softer with a layer of ice covering the water's surface, but there was still birdsong overhead and the scent of a squirrel that had recently passed by. "Be careful, all of you." Wolfblossom knew she didn't have to tell her warriors that, but it never hurt. The last thing she wanted was for any of them to get caught in one of the twoleg's well-hidden traps, like far too many cats that already had.

Stonepaw leaped into the branches of a tree, carefully making her way toward a bird. It wasn't long before she managed to catch it, a paw knocking the creature off balance before it could fly, and her fangs catching the bird swiftly before she carefully made her way to the forest floor to bury it.

Stormwatcher watched his apprentice and did his best to keep a neutral expression but its enteirly possible he let a little grin slip when she caught the bird with alot of skill.  He gave a little silent nod to her doing his best not to seem overpleased.  


He stalked along with his group looking for anything to eat... err bring home right.  

He managed to spot a squirrel running around on the bark of a tree nearish its base.  He slunk down and crept up on it best he could before leaping at it.

Stormwatcher attemtps to catch a squirrel 1-6 is pass 7-9 is twoleg interaction 10 is predator.  -3 sp for hunting roll


He caught it in his jaws just before it tried to get away. He went over to stash it with his apprentices. This was going well, they were 2 for 2 so far he hoped this luck would last.

Moonlily gave a nod to Marigoldmask and Wolfblossom before parting from the group. A finch soon enough came to her senses, and the fluffy-pelted molly was quick to take the opportunity to try and catch it. Experience was on her side, and she let out a purr of delight as the finch was soon enough caught between her paws.

Marigoldmask dipped her head, going to then find a prey item of her own. A squirrel's chittering sound was heard above the rest of the forest's noises, and she was prepared to go catch it. But just as she was... an aggressive screen filled her ears. An owl! Mousedung. She let out a yowl as the talons hit her from above, and she called out to her clanmates. "OWL!"

Instead, she found an owl!
It used Talon Strike, dealing 9 damage and costing 15 stamina.

Thornstalker was quick to find her way into the trees when Wolfblossom set them free to hunt, her attention turned to finding prey and hunting them down, but it was quickly stolen by the cry from her clanmate. An owl? Thornstalker let out a huff of annoyance before turning to assist her clanmate. This stupid bird probably chased away everything in the area by now.

The pale warrior positioned herself perfectly, before the owl could take to the air fully again she jumped down from the branch she was in and pounced perfectly on the birds back, pinning it under her weight.

Thornstalker used Leaping Bound dealing 5 damage, -10 SP. Owl is pinned for one turn.

Hearing the yowl of her clanmate, Wolfblossom immediately turned, the bird she'd been stalking quickly forgotten as alarm spread through her. Part of her was relieved to see that it was only an owl and not something worse, but Wolfblossom still leaped into the fray, fangs snapping closed around part of the owl's wing after Thornstalker had knocked it to the ground.

Stonepaw didn't have the chance to get back into the trees in search of more prey, but instead she too ran towards the owl. With unsheathed claws she slashed at it, mindful of the training she had received from Stormwatcher. This wasn't a cat, and for all Stonepaw cared they could bring it back home with them once it was dead.

Wolfblossom used Snap for -7 sp, dealing -10 damage.
Stonepaw used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -6 damage.

Stormwatcher grinned as Moonlily managed to get another kill added to their hunt.  This was going smoothly!

He trotted along very eager to add to their score.  His nose picked up on another squirrel and he grinned spotting it.  Luck must be on their side today as he krept towards it.

His tummy grumbled he could almost taste the yummy meal that he was about to pounce on.

He snuck closer and closer to it.


But then, ears flicking he heard his clanmate Marigoldmask call for owl trouble... He soon after heard Wolf, Stone and Thorn all going after it.  He hesitated... eyes still locked on the squirrel that hadnt yet heard the danger from behind them both.

He made a snap decision, the clan needed food that was the whole reason they were out here.  Three warriors and an apprentice should be more than overkill to protect from an owl he figured.  He knew that the most correct thing to do would be to make sure Marigoldmask was alright but he was so close to getting this extra prey as well.


He stayed focused on his task and chose not to engage in combat with the owl.

He leapt at the squirrel hoping to get 4 total for the clan.


He practically landed right on the thing and it had no chance of escape as it was over in a moment. He grinned happily holding it in his jaws. The owl looked pretty beat up as he trotted back over to where the rest of them were, looks like his call worked out fine

Moonlily, too, heard the call of her Clanmate. With fury the she-cat spun from her catch, racing to her clanmate's side. It was a rather unfortunate time, really, for the owl to choose to try and go after one of their clanmates. Its shrieks of pain would matter little once the other large molly joined the fight, her teeth striking directly towards the pinned bird's neck to end its life. One last cry pierced out, as it tried aggressively to beat its wings for freedom, but it was of no use. So many cats against one bird was futile.

"We probably could take this back, at least snack on part of it since only the wing got mangled, yes?"

Moonlily used snap, dealing 10 damage and costing seven stamina. The owl is dead!

Marigoldmask dipped her head in gratitude towards the warriors around her, shaking out her pelt and turning to give herself a quick groom at the embarrassment. "Thanks, guys. I'll have Plumleaf look at this scratch when we're back." Taking a few moments to breathe after such a scare, the molly dipped her head. "I'll see if I can't find another piece of prey, might as well bring something back right? I'm still alright." Her back hurt, but it would be no matter.

Finding her way a bit upstream, the call of a bird caught her attention. This time, it was a much smaller bird as opposed to the owl. A quick surge up the tree, and thankfully, the orange-flecked molly had caught it by surprise, grabbing the bird and hurling it down. She returned to her patrol soon after, dipping her head. "There, couldn't let you all get something and not me, right?"
