Let's go hunt!(Open hunting patrol!)

Birdpaw hadn't been doing much. She had been trying to find something to do all day. Unfortunately, the day had gone past really slow as if to taunt the Calico she-cat. It was now dusk and she still felt a need to do something. As she lay outside of the apprentice's den, an idea popped into her head. She got up quickly and made her way the camp entrance but not before turning around and asking loudly if anyone wanted to head on a patrol. She sat waiting patiently at the entrance. She groomed herself as a way to pass time.

Asterpaw, finally an apprentice, beamed in pride. "Future leader of Thunderclan will go with you!" Asterpaw announced, puffing out her chest fur. She laughed a bit, and sat beside Birdpaw.

Swirlpaw approached the two, his mind wandering. "I'll go too," he mewed quickly, his eyes staring off into the distance. One of these days, my name will be called, thought the white-furred tom, and I'll become a warrior. When, though? Hasn't it been long enough?

Birdpaw turned to see Asterki-paw coming towards her. She smiled as Asterpaw's enthusiasm at one day being leader. She chuckled softly as the she-cat beside her puffed out her chest with pride."Well if you work hard enough, you may just be future leader." she said to Asterpaw.

She noticed a familiar white figure heading their way. She purred as Swirlpaw decided to go with them. "We'll wait for a warrior. Is that alright with the both of you?" she asked them.

Smallpaw padded closer to some apprentices and smiled: "Waiting for patrol? May I join?"

Asterpaw nodded. "We still need a warrior though," she said frustrated.

Birdpaw noticed another apprentice heading their way. She heard him ask if he could join. Birdpaw purred softly. "Of course you can join." She then turned to Asterpaw and nodded. "A warrior will eventually come." she said while staring off into the distance.

Leopardclaw had noticed the small group of apprentices gathering for a little while now, but the spotted deputy had been reluctant to leave his nice, warm patch of perfect sunshine; but no one else seemed to be volunteering to go, so with a small sigh he rose to his paws and stretched out before approaching the group. When he saw that his daughter was going though, he was suddenly a bit more excited by the concept of an extra patrol. Giving Birdpaw a quick lick on the head, he purred to the group; "I can take you guys, all ready to go?"

Smallpaw mewed happily that finally one of the warriors came for totally bored apprentices. And it was not usual warrior, Leopardclaw the deputy! "We are quite ready, I guess!" He waved his tail nervously, remembering his patrol with Darkflight, which was his first patrol. Now he was more confident, altough old leader's company and mentorship felt really good on the last patrol.

Asterpaw beamed confidently at the deputy. Her first step to being a leader! She nodded at the tom, her eyes blazing with excitement. "Let's do it!"

Swirlpaw kept quiet, his spirits heightened as he realized they wouldn't have to sneak out to hunt. One less thing to worry about, he thought, smiling at Birdpaw. Now, to get to the hunting....

Birdpaw gave a a nod. "We're all ready to go!" The she-cat purred. As they exited the camp, Birdpaw's mind had wandered elsewhere. She was thinking about how much she had grown. She was stronger, smarter, and she had more skills. She was also happy that she got to spend most of her life with Swirlpaw. The tom was her crush. Her chest heated at the thought.

As the group reached to a stop, she turned to them and grinned. "Alright! Let's catch some prey!" she exclaimed enthusiastically. She departed from the patrol in her own direction. She made sure to tell them where she was going if anybody else wanted to join her.

As she reached an area with a lot of bushes, she scented a familiar smell. She quickly dropped low and looked around. The she-cat eventually spotted a brown fluffy squirrel reaching for a nut in a bush. 'Alright. Slow and steady.' she reminded herself. She carfully stepped. After a few seconds and a little closer now, she pounced on the critter.

After succesfully killing it, she hid it and went to search for more.

Leopardclaw hung at the back of the group of apprentices as they all made their way into the forest, allowing them to take the lead and hunt where they wished. It was a beautiful day, the sun shone brightly in the clear blue, and the spotted deputy let out a deep, relaxed sigh. Despite all the troubles as of late, being out in the territory on days like this always seemed to calm him. Sitting down to watch the apprentices hunt, he noticed that one of the tom apprentices seemed to be hanging around Birdpaw quite a bit. In fact, now that he thought of it, he had seen them together numerous times on patrols and even just hanging around camp. Feeling a sudden surge of protectiveness, Leopardclaw frowned and turned away, quickly managing to find a fairly plump vole and killed it quickly with a sharp nip to the spine. Bringing it back to the place where he had been sitting, he watched the apprentices closely, but found himself paying more heed to his daughter and the young odd-eyed tom.

Smallpaw padded some fox-lenghts away searching for prey. Scenting and scanning for any sign he went forward some time until he finally found something. It was small creature and it was quite quick. Smallpaw thought for a moment until he finally recognized it. It was a rodent. Maybe shrew or vole.
He crouched trying to be very quiet and quick at once. When he decided for proper moment he jumped forward and hit the source of moving with fluffy paw and sharp claws. Hit! Squezze and he had blood on his claws. Proud apprentice grabed warm body of shrew.
