August's Gathering 2018

Flowerpaw padded into fourtrees, amazed. Her first gathering!

Songpaw stayed behind in RiverClan.

Nettlepaw looked over at his sister. "Yeah, this place is cool. The trees are huge though look at them! Also, I really want to see all of the leaders. If they ever show up." Nettlepaw was getting quite impatient already. His fluffy tail flicked back and forth. He saw Jaystar sitting up on the rock but no other clans had shown up yet. He wanted them to show up soon. He wanted to see the other clans.

Absently straying through overhanging tendrils of heat dried grasses, Brindlestar's features were twisted with the faintest display of uncharacteristic dismay. The unyielding weight of the many different foreboding events that had recently transpired, from the strange young RiverClanner to the fact that one of her Warriors had been so carelessly tossed into the Gorge, had left her properly unsettled. Unseeing gaze drifting past the various different cats who mingled about the sparsely populated clearing, the pale-furred molly hurriedly made her way towards the jutting stone that arose from its place in the earth. Smoothly pulling herself atop the Great Rock with hardly a sound to announce her presence, Brindlestar merely blinked over in Jaystar's direction before casting her line of sight out towards the many cats who dwelled about below the pair. "The Warrior of yours," Her soft voice held the same inhospitable note that often arose whenever she was in the presence of her long time rival, "The one who had the brilliant idea of jumping head first into Gorge with one of my Warriors- what became of them?" The brief attempt of curiosity had mainly arisen out of confusion in regards to the scant details that Badgerthorn had given, but it was also in part an attempt to distract her from the crushing weight of the dismal reality before her.

It was weird, certainly, that the Windclan she-cat dared to speak with him after all these moons of ignoring each other. The Riverclan leader gave Brindlestar an emotionless look but it was clear that behind his eyes there was an annoyance and even a little of anger. He flicked his tail and narrowed his eyes slightly. If there was something that hated, it was that one of his warriors get attacked in their own territory. "Thanks to Starclan, she's perfectly fine. But I would like to discuss with you about respecting the borders and territories of each of us. I'm sure you're well aware that he trespassed into our land and my cat did what she had to do as the Code demand. This is not the first time one of your clanmates trespass the border and wound one of mine, Brindlestar." He said calmly and coldly. Similar to Brindlestar, that was only a facade to hide what the true fear that lurked in his heart. He had to be strong... like his mother before him. That was the weight he had to carry, if he failed, the clan would perish.

Hailsong was there too.

"Ah, speaking of the Code, are we?" The contemptuous edge of the cold words, sparked with a ferocious venom that would've easily burned through a lesser counterpart, singed Brindlestar's throat, "Tell me, did you think of the precious Code whenever you stole a border you're incapable of properly maintaining and have no use for, or did you think of the Code whenever you stole herbs from helpless Kits, Apprentices, and Elders and left them to starve without a second thought?" Swinging around to glare at Jaystar with a smoldering gaze, one that burned with the coldest depths of true spiteful hatred, the pale-furred molly's teeth were bared in a unsightly, humorless simper. It felt strange to be indulging in the farthest depths of outrage and hatred she felt in regards to the blue-grey tom, but the scorching heat of her anger was so intense it was practically blinding. For half a moment, she was tempted to simply reach over and pluck those ugly green eyes straight from his empty head. However, her composure remained- the only physical display of her rapidly mounting outrage was the sporadic twitching of her neatly coiled tail. "As far as I'm concerned, the minuscule amount of blood that your Warriors spill is the price of every cruel action you've done to WindClan without reason." Glaring at Jaystar as if he was the most insignificant creature that she had witnessed, Brindlestar's attention was promptly removed from the RiverClanner with only a cold, curt sentence that ended the anger-fueled conversation, "And next time you try to harass me into doing RiverClan's bidding, don't send some bumbling young tom whose practically still an Apprentice, do it yourself."

Coldpaw enterd the gathering after her clan, feeling slightly nervous which she usually wasn't. She looked around, clueless of what to do. She sat down with her tail twitching back and forth.

The tom's fur bristled but he kept his stance and stayed sit as he tried to contain a hiss. Maybe the stress was taking out the worst of him but in these circumstances, he couldn't help to be more easily-angered. "I'm not sure if you're deaf or blind, but if you haven't noticed, my clan is wider and wider and every day it keeps growing. During that time, we needed those herbs, one of our apprentices died because of illness and my leader requested for them, maybe not in the most friendly way, but she did. Ashstar decided to fight for them instead. Ivystar's did what it was necessary to save her own clan from sickness and from the starvation caused for a growing clan that needed more food." He lashed his tail to one side as he narrowed his eyes, even more, his tufted ears flattened against his skull in an angry manner.

"You blame me for what happened yet I was no leader. I didn't choose to steal all of your food but it was Ivystar's request and that prey saved my own kits from death and hunger. And don't worry... after this, I'll make sure to reinforce the patrols in the Gorge to avoid any other conflict like this one and the one that happened to our medicine cat when she was brutally attacked by your cat." As he spoke, his voice sounded less angered but it was clear that there was a warning in them. "I recommend you to order your cats to stay away from there because my warriors will have the order to attack any trespasser immediately without second thoughts."

However, every bit of anger disappeared and was replaced with confusion when the she-cat spoke about a young tom. He let out a small chuckle, thinking that she was messing with him by saying such a lie. "Excuse me, but I never ordered one of my cats to talk to you. It would be a waste of time anyway." Even though he said those not giving it much importance, the Riverclan tom slowly meditated the words of the other leader. A young cat? Harassing a leader? The pieces of the puzzle slowly started to fit and Jaystar only could come with one cat of his clan who would do that... His fear arose again but he didn't let it control him. Lichenmask was going to destroy everything, as the prophecy said but he never thought he would have the guts to go and blackmail the other leaders as well. Of course, these were only rushed suppositions but if it was true... that cat could truly destroy all the clans...

Switstep had arrived with Windclan and the deputy took his place beside the other deputies. As he sat there waiting, the tom couldn't help but hear the rather tense conversation Brindlestar and Jaystar were having. He looked around the surrounding area, attempting to take his mind off the conversation. He saw many groups of apprentices and warriors scattered around. Other cats just sat alone.

Darkpaw was looking about, trying to pick out certain faces of the cat's he had met in the last gathering that shared a similar viewpoint. They all had sneaked out and met at Fourtrees one night to discuss...certain matters. The Windclan tom sat down and wrapped his tail around his paws as he waited for the gathering to eventually begin.

Littlestar entered the clearing with an uncharacteristic look of irritability barely masked. She was not looking forward to this gathering at all. She wasn't sure if she should say something to Jaystar in the middle of the gathering about his foolish warrior or if she should do it in private, but she did know that she was going to say something.

With a slight lash of her mottled tail, she leaped up onto Great Rock, her blue gaze staying focused on Jaystar as she approached to rest near him. "Greetings, Jaystar, Brindlestar." She meowed politely before turning her attention back to Jaystar. "I've had an unwelcome visitor from your clan, Jaystar, come to ShadowClan camp." She started, giving him a pointed look. "If you have a problem with me or my clan, I'd appreciate if you'd speak to me yourself instead of sending an extremely young warrior to do it for you." She meowed briskly to the tabby leader.

Mothpaw is there too

Thornleap padded smoothly into Fourtrees, his spiky pelt as unruly as always despite his obvious attempts to smooth it. His pale eyes flashed as Brindlestar and Jaystar argued. Although their words were undecipherable, it was clear that the young Riverclan leader had stepped out of line, and their conversation had grown from frosty to heated within moments. With a grunt, the large Windclanner pushed past his clanmates and took a seat at the front of the gathering, eyeing the Riverclanners with a small frown.

Featherpaw crept warily into Fourtrees behind the inundation of RiverClan cats flooding in, her pale mint eyes darting everywhere to examine and observe. This was her second gathering, she had missed the previous one and whatever drama it may have had due to her unwanted encounter with Shade. Her ears flattening momentarily at the image of the malicious rogue, her mind inwardly shrieked at her to stop thinking about him. My experience with him is over, I need to stop being petrified at the mere thought, she mused, feeling strangely fatigued, But his danger and threat is still alive. What if - what if he attacked during the gathering?
Her senses of unease began flooding back, and she hurriedly padded near the back, close to a tree, feeling welcomed by its shadow. At least her clan was the first to arrive, there aren't too many cats here, yet. All that were gathered here were her clanmates, all of which were familiar.
I don't feel like interacting with anyone.. she thought, knowing all she needed now was a bit of space and silence. Both of which were currently and would be absent.

Mosspaw bounced enthusiastically into the clearing behind her mentor, Brindlestar, her large, sparkling eyes gazing, in awe, around. Her first gathering! She was most certainly inexperienced, but any cat would be able to gape in wonder at the trees towering, and the canopy of leaves that allowed the moonbeams to penetrate through. She was as ready as ever to socialise and possibly make a new friend. What was the point of foes and rivals when you could have allies?
"Hello!" she trilled to every RiverClan cat she passed, her tone guileless and sweet. She sat in the middle of the chattering crowd, a broad beam plastered on her face.

Hollowpaw trudged reluctantly into the clearing, sniffing with displeasure at the RiverClan and WindClan cats, so senselessly mingling with potential enemies. In his view, doing so was foolish. In the scenario of a battle, what would these cats do if they had to fight a 'friend' from the gathering? Would they be tied, stuck, not knowing what to do? All these cats were enemies! Did anyone have the sense to see that? Grunting contemptously, the scruffy tom sat in the widest are he could see, free from any others chatting. If someone happened to come to view, and tried to start a conversation with him, he'd still be polite. ShadowClan already seemingly had reputation for being unfriendly and untrusting, and, in his genuine opinion, what was wrong with that? Nevertheless, the apprentice still didn't want someone to think he was a grumbling, mad kit, so he'd treat any approaching cats formally and politely.

Coldpaw looked up at the Windclanner who where greeting pretty much every cat with a 'Hello'. She waited until she was sitting down before she walked closer "Hi, um do you mind if I sit here?" she mumbled nervously as she looked at the other she-cat with a slight smile. "Oh I'm Coldpaw by the way!" she meowed quickly once she forgot that she hadn't told the other cat her name.

Streampaw walked into the clearing when he saw that Featherpaw looked rather
Scared?
So he decided to sit next to her, no words just sitting next to her hoping to comfort her.
He looked at her rather worried, he hoped that if something where to be wrong Featherpaw would tell him.

Lilypaw looked exited into four tree's again amazed by the amount of cats there.
She looked around and then decided to sit down close to some Thunderclan cats.

When a new voice murmured a question, Mosspaw twisted around, her eyes lit with a twinkle of greeting. She was unaware of the enquiring apprentice's hesitance in her tone, so she grinned at her with the ceaseless amount of eternal energy she carried everywhere. "No, I don't mind at all! Of course you can sit here," she enthused, shuffling over slightly and flicking her tail light-heartedly.
The tortoiseshell apprentice blinked when the RiverClanner introduced herself. Coldpaw. What a nice, unique name!
"Nice to meet you, Coldpaw! I'm Mosspaw!" she gushed, tilting her head in a genial manner.

Featherpaw almost jumped, startled, when Streampaw joined her. Almost immediately, she felt her thoughts become eased, and felt pleased at his company. Whenever Streampaw was around, she felt tranquil and free from stress.
He always soothed her, somehow.
And she was still trying to determine why.
Featherpaw fixed her gaze on him, meeting his emerald eyes, and smiled, trying to notify him that she was extremely grateful for his thoughtfulness. Her tail fluttered positively, and she turned her attention to the Great Rock, where Jaystar, Brindlestar and Littestar were exchanging words. She pondered what they were discussing for a moment, then returned her thoughts to the area. SkyClan and ThunderClan still hadn't arrived, but she remained patient.

The leader bowed his head to the small leader in a sign of respect but when she spoke, the truth seemed to be just as he thought. "Greetings, Littlestar. I have no problem with your clan at all. I'm always grateful to you and your cats for being by my side in difficult times and I swear to Starclan that I didn't send you that warrior. That cat... did any of you catch their name?" Jaystar knew the answer but he preferred he didn't because it only meant that the prophecy was coming true. All the leaders knew about it thanks to Goldeneye's warnings but they didn't know that cat belonged to Riverclan. Maybe it was time to let them know privately... maybe it was the only way to save them all from the destruction.

The flamed tabby entered the Gathering. He already had been in too many Gatherings to be interested in talking to other clans so he took his place among his own clanmates and waited, only being distracted by seeing the leader's talk in an unusual way.
