Plague [Site Event]

"I know he is not dead yet, he is a fighter and will get through this tragedy." Scorchclaw replied, taking no offense to the harsh comment which, in the older days, would have set him off on a huge tantrum and line of sarcasm, smart remarks and scornful words.
"I heard you talking about raiding Thunderclan. If we can ot find any healthy prey here that is our only chance of getting through this armegeddon." The dark grey and black tom announced.

Nightpaw lay down outside the apprentice den, suffering very badly from sickness. His eyes had crusted over so much that he couldn't open them, and his voice was so croaky he could barely speak. He could only hear and smell the other cats around him, and almost all of them were sick as well. He hoped that Moonpaw hadn't caught the sickness as well.

Moonpaw lifted herself weakly. She could feel herself getting sick. Her tired eyes looked around the apprentice den and she made her way out of it. She saw Lionstrike and Shadeflame. She wanted to go over to them but felt to weak and didn't want to get them sick. She turned to go back to the den but blacked out and.hit the ground.

Lionstrike sat back up, before blinking warmly at Silverleaf, his amber eyes becoming brighter a bit, and got to his paws. "I'm gonna go over to them." He motioned to the group of cats-Mapleheart, Shadeflame, Scorchclaw, Cormorantpelt, Heavykit-. "Want to come? I don't think I'm that sick though. I accidentally choked on some dust ... but I don't know about Shadeflame." He bounded over. "Shouldn't we risk everything we got to keep our clan alive? I don't like the idea of raiding ... but if it's the only way, then should we do it?"

Sagewhisker lay quietly in the entrance to his den, watching out on the rest of the clan stagger around - the lucky ones who were still healthy discussing where to find prey, how they should get it, what they should do. Every now and then, the elder erupted in a sickening cough fest. He tried to tell the others to keep their distance from him, but he had to be outside. The inside air was suffocating and the cooling breeze of leaf-bare helped ease his breathing.
He cursed at their situation, telling himself if he had been leader, he'd never let Shadowsky be taken from them. Yet still, their clan population near exploded and the tom saw it as a good sign that the clan would prosper. It was a long and cold leaf-bare, but leaf-bare was always harsh. Come the spring, he expected the clan to be back on their feet and strong as ever.
But no. The clan was running out of food and instead of taking what they needed from the land that was rightfully theirs, Nightstar chose to seek food from Carrionplace. And now the sickness, which Sagewhisker hoped to never see again, had returned to them. He was personally angered by her choice and it was times like these he severely regretted retiring. Mistflower and Cloudbillow grew up fine. He should've stayed leader to protect them from stupid mistakes like these and lead the clan until StarClan threw him in his grave, instead he was stuck here with sickness of his own watching the rest of the cats he cared about suffer.
"She should've taken back ShadowSky while she had the chance," Sagewhisker muttered miserably. And for the love of StarClan, where was Mallowroot at a time like this? He knew the sickness they carried had no cure, but sitting around and letting the clan stay weakened couldn't possibly be useful.

Mistflower couldn't stay still, although it made her coughing act up more, her belly was swollen and hurting and only walking around - keeping herself busy - seemed to tame the pains. It broke her heart to see the apprentices laying around, sick and weak, when they were normally the most energetic bunch in the clan. She glanced around, seeing her former mentor crumpled in a corner, her father laying week by the elders den, a bunch of fellow warriors desperately trying to scrape a plan together. The she-cat sighed. This was so unlike their clan. Her blue-green eyes lastly rest of their deputy, looking rather miserable himself. With a small ache in her chest she walked over to him, "It's not your fault," she muttered to Thrushstripe, "We all tried to do the right thing." The she-cat buried her nose comfortingly in his shoulder. She supposed it was some sort of sick joke. ShadowClan, trying to play the nobles for once, then are sickened half-to-death because of it. They weren't meant to be the good guys, she supposed.
She started to take a few steps back when she saw Nightstar beckoning for her deputy, her head twisting around when she heard a thump near the apprentice's den. "Moonpaw!" The warrior gasped. The she-cat ran over and began hastily dragging her back into the den to try. She grabbed nearby soaked moss (near frozen, it wasn't exactly hard to find in this weather). Mistflower licked rapidly over the small apprentice's neck, like one would do to a sleeping kit, trying to get her to wake up and drink some of the water. She didn't know what else to do.

Mallowroot silently slipped out of his den, wary of the sick scents hanging in the air, the sad eyes all around, not a sound but coughing and season... he'd dealt with Leaf-bares that were bad, but never with something like this. So much sickness everywhere he turned. It might even become too much for the old medicine cat. It was ironic, though, that Mallowroot had pretty much never gotten sick. So much for speaking with experience, the most he'd ever had was probably a soar throat. But this had to be treated, before everyone in the Clan got sick.
Mallowroot leapt into his den, picking out a bundle of herbs and wrapping them in a large leaf, and bringing them into the open. Where he noticed almost every cat eyeing him after coughing and sneezing. They'd all get treated eventually, though, so he started with the coughing little kit he noticed almost right away. He padded up to Heavykit and set a small yarrow leaf with a couple juniper berries next to him, and gave the kit a comforting lick on the head. "Eat it all up, little one," he encouraged, trying to sound as happy as he could. "They'll stop your coughing," he continued. Hopefully...

It was for a moment that Thrushstripe locked eyes with Nightstar and began to head over to her den when he was stopped in place by Mistflower. Looking at the young warrior, he sighed. "But I should have done something to avoid this. I went wrong somewhere, I just can't figure out where." But then there was the thump and Mistflower was gone in a flash. The deputy's gaze shot up as he saw the poor apprentice faint in the middle of walking. That was just what he needed. Something else to worry about. He would have done the same, running over to Moonpaw, but Nightstar was calling him and he really wanted her insight on this situation. Turing away with an expressionless face, he walked into the leader's den and just kind of stared at Nightstar. He didn't want to look worried or scared, but it showed slightly in his eyes. "Greetings, Nightstar."

Redshade lashed his tail, padding over to the group of Cormorantpelt, Mallowroot, Heavykit, and others I can't remember and don't want to go look back at the page(s).
"It's obvious what we have to do. The other clans are fine in this weather, and Shadowclan doesn't deserve this. We have to raid enemy territory for food or die eating this lizard-dung excuse for prey." The tom growled, narrowing his eyes and looking at the "healthier" warriors around him. Then he glanced up at Nightstar's den with a short huff of irritation. "Apparently she doesn't have anything to say at the moment. We should just get to it before it's too late. We can't wait for more bodies to pile up."

Silverleaf followed Lionstrike over to Cormorantpelt, Shadeflame, Redshade, and the others. Suddenly she saw Moonpaw out of the corner of her eye, and ran over. "Mallowroot! Come quick!" she called.

Mallowroot looked up suddenly at the panicked Silverleaf calling for him. "I'll gather my herbs," the old cat mumbled, dashing back to his leaf wrap, but giving Redshade an icy glare before he did. The medicine cat grabbed his herbs and ran to Silverleaf. "What's wrong?" He asked.

Silverleaf shrugged. "She just collapsed," the tabby silver she-cat told Mallowroot.

A muffled thump. A cry that sounded like it had come from Mistflower. She was going to turn her head to see what had happened, but that's when she noticed Mallowroot... Though in appearance she looked rather ragged Cormorantpelt had stood up just fine; not one limb shook. Her heart beat with both fear and relief. Fear because Mallowroot might pass them up. Relief because he might actually see to Heavykit first. The Medicine Cat turned in their direction.
Oh, thank StarClan!

Heavykit gave a pitiful squeak in response to Mallowroot's soft voice and instruction to eat what he had brought. So he scooped up the berries with a small, dry tongue. He chewed. And chewed. And chewed... Then he chewed some more.

FINALLY he swallowed the berries and his body went limp from exhaustion.

Moonpaw barely twitched as she heard voices around her. Her little body felt too weak and she barely opened her eyes and saw two cats looking down at her.

Nightpaw lifted his head when he heard Moonpaw's name. His worst hopes had come true. "Mo... mm... mooo..." he croaked, trying to say her name. He barely managed to stand up and took a few steps towards where he thought she was. "Moon... mmm..." he said after falling over onto his side. He hoped she was alright, more alright than him.

Moonpaw looked at Nightpaw weakly. "Nightpaw?" she croaked. The little apprentice stared at her friend, hoping he would respond. She watched hopefully and anxiously.
