Daisypaw stepped back blinking rapidly and letting up.  Had she hurt him?  As competitive as she was, she never meant to hurt Adderpaw. Im sorry she said quietly.  She was relived to see he wasnt bleeding and got to his paws.

The next thing she knew he had crashed into her and was biting at her neck and was dragging her off her paws as she tumbled down.  WOW what a cheap trick! she thought angerly.  Pretending to be hurt and then does this.

She was annoyed at getting tossed around in his grasp.  She should have just finished the spar instead of letting up.  He wasnt even hurt!

He had her by the scruff and she was scared she would lose this if she didnt turn this around right now.  Mustering everthing she had she yanked herself free from his grasp and wrapped her front paws around his and twisted to knock him over.  Once he had fallen she quickly scrambled ontop of him putting her weight in his shoulders to pin him to the grassy moors.

Daisypaw uses Leap and Hold for 6 dmg (-1) = 5 dmg 15 sp

She panted heavily so tired from this fight.

She held a paw above his throat but not on it at all.  Showing that if this was a real fight she could end him right here and now

Adderpaw was sure he'd win this fight. If he could only pull hard off to get Daisypaw off her feet– or, barring that, to disorient her a little –that would hopefully give him enough time to score a few extra blows, or just to duck out of the way of whatever attack she wanted to attempt next. She was quicker than his thinking, though, wriggling herself around to tangle their paws together. His teeth were pulled from her scruff, and he hit the earth with a sharp exhale. He started to move his legs, ready to wedge his paws against the grass and flip himself away, but she had already pressed her paws against him, holding him fast. One even hovered over his neck, and that made Adderpaw's eyes narrow with concern and irritation. Bold and cruel to threaten a Clanmate's life, even if it was in play.

"You win." He muttered sorely, using the last of his strength to shove up off the ground, pushing her surprisingly heavy paws off of him. "Good fight." His mew was curt, but genuine. It had been good; good enough to make him stiffen a little when he stood. He hadn't realized how much effort he was putting in until it was over and the adrenaline fled his system and he could feel the dull ache in his muscles. Flicking his tail against Daisypaw's shoulder, he shook his head and padded away without saying anything else, rejoining the crowd and settling beside Flutterpaw.

Adderpaw has been KO'ed.

Smallbean watched as the battle unfolded before him, keeping a close eye on both the state of the apprentices as well as their skills. This was a good way to find out where the younger cats were in their training.

His eyes darted back and forth, paying attention to how they both used their quick reflexes to their advantage, Daisypaw dodging attacks and Adderpaw using quick strategy in an attempt to slow down his opponent. The match was over in what seemed like seconds, with Daisypaw pinning Adderpaw to the ground. Smiling at the good sportsmanship, he spoke up. "Very well done, you two, it was a close match. You both did well, certainly on your way to becoming fine warriors. Take this time to rest. Adderpaw, you can go back to camp if you want, but I'd recommend sticking around for the next match. Daisypaw has to stay, though."

Gaze sliding over to the next pair, he beckoned them to the area where Daisypaw and Adderpaw had previously fought. "Mallardpaw! Flutterpaw! If you were paying attention, you may have picked up a few strategies from the last match. In a way, you have an advantage, being the second pair to spar."

Trusting that he didn't need to repeat the rules again, he stepped back. If anything were to go wrong, there were three warriors to intervene, after all. "Now, if you're both ready, your match will begin. Like the last time, begin on the count of three. Ready?" He felt like he was repeating the exact same words.

"One... Two... Three!!!"

Flutterpaw winced slightly as he saw his brother go down. It had been a really close fight-- but Daisypaw, being slightly older and somewhat bigger, had managed to pull off the win. It wasn't too surprising, but still... he had been rooting for his brother, just a little bit. He gave Adderpaw a warm smile and sympathetic nudge as he sat down next to him. "You did good," he purred lightly. Then, with a nod toward his friend, "you too, Daisypaw."

Then, before he knew it, it was his turn. He and Mallardpaw were supposed to spar. A spike of nervousness once again flashed through Flutterpaw's heart, but he managed to keep it from fluffing his fur. It's okay. You've sparred before. You even won last time! Either way... just have fun. He nodded to Smallbean, and then gave another nod of acknowledgement to his opponent. Whisperear's other apprentice. And with the words from the deputy-- the spar began.

Flutterpaw had been thinking over a few strategies as he watched his brother. When the words were spoken, he sprang into action immediately, not allowing any time for hesitation. Jumping quickly, he bowled Mallardpaw over, using surprise and his momentum to land the apprentice on their back.

Flutterpaw used Jumping Strike on Mallardpaw, dealing 8 damage (6+3-1) and costing 7 stamina. Moor Runner is active.

“Ooh…. Good hit, Flutterpaw!” Blazefang called out. “You won’t go down easy though, will you Mallardpaw?” She wasn’t really all that invested today, but she’d been asked to moderate this match so she wanted to make sure the others knew she was paying attention.

Mallardpaw had been entranced by the fight, only to remember that, in fact, they were also to participate in a spar. Shaking the surprise and awe away, and giving a solid nod towards Whisperear, they turned to begin the spar with Flutterpaw... only to find themselves being bowled over without so much as more of a moment to think.

The apprentice let out a bit of a surprised squawk, the sound being odd even for him. Turning around, the apprentice went to the first part of Flutterpaw that they saw. The tail.

Remembering the previous spar, but also words of wisdom from Whisperear, they pulled. Not hard enough to cause any actual damage, but hopefully hard enough to cause the stunning effect. Nobody liked having their tail pulled on, after all.

Mallardpaw used Tail Yank! It dealt 6 damage (7-1) and cost 15 stamina. Moor Runner continues to be active.

Flutterpaw tumbled to the ground when Mallardpaw yanked his tail. However, he managed to shake it off with the burst of adrenaline running through his veins. Blazefang said something-- he didn't quite catch it-- but he didn't have time to respond. In a battle, he had to think quickly. This seems so much more stressful than my spar with Daisypaw. He rolled to his feet, and in a swift movement, lunged at Mallardpaw. Similarly to how Daisypaw had against his brother, he bit the apprentice's shoulder. Not hard enough to actually pierce through fur, of course! But just enough to deliver a sharp nip.

Flutterpaw used Random Recall and Snap, dealing 5 (6-1) damage and costing 12 (5+7) stamina. Moor Runner active.

Winning seemed fairly out of their grasp at this point, the apprentice heaving heavily. The sharp nip to his shoulder brought the apprentice off-balance, but they spun around. Whatever adrenaline had gone through Flutterpaw's veins seemed to then surge through Mallardpaw's own, their paws flying in an attempt to bat Flutterpaw away. Claws were sheathed, but that didn't mean the paws didn't have force behind them.

Mallardpaw used Front Paw Strike and Desperate Blows, dealing 9 (6+4-1) damage and costing 14 (7+7) stamina. Moor Runner active.

Flutterpaw winced at the sudden flurry of blows from Mallardpaw. Despite the lack of claws, being hit with paws with such force still hurt. He was starting to slow down... but so was his opponent. Thinking wildly for a moment, he couldn't help but recall how he had won his initial spar against Daisypaw. He relaxed for a moment, letting his muscles go limp-- before springing up a moment later, using the last bit of his adrenaline to pummel Mallardpaw with flailing paws. This would probably be his last move in the spar. Would it work? So close!

Flutterpaw used Play Dead, dealing 7 (8-1) damage and costing 5 stamina. KO Pending.

Mallardpaw's ears flattened against their head as Flutterpaw once more battered at them with paws. These seemed to be so much more than the apprentice could take, and while there could've been the chance to dodge...It was best to simply give Flutterpaw the win. Toppling over, the apprentice was panting heavily as they caved. "You win, Flutterpaw." They panted out, giving a tired smile as all they wanted to do was take a few moments to catch their breath.

Flutterpaw won the spar!

Daisypaw watched the second fight while mostly trying to catch her breath. She sat next to her former opponent Adderpaw. She nudged his shoulder gently "hey that was really well fought" she complimented.

She was so happy to have won and her expression clearly showed that. "Sorry if I was too hard on you" she said quieter.

Just then, Flutterpaw won the match against Mallard. She cheered them both on as the match concluded...

so it would be her against Flutterpaw? A chance for her to even the score since he had beaten her earlier. And yes, she was keeping score (would you really expect anything else from the competitive Daisy?)

explanation:

Now that the last fight had been finished, it was time to move on to the final round. Walking up to Flutterpaw and Mallardpaw, he gave them both a nod. "You both are skilled, it was just a matter of who was quicker to act. Good job, both of you. Now.." He stepped back a little, raising his voice. "If you need a moment to rest, time will be given. Otherwise, it's time for the final competition!"

"The final event of the competition is of which cat hunt and bring back the biggest rabbit! Both of you will go in opposite directions so you don't end up trying to get the same one. This is a test of hunting skill, but it's also determined heavily on luck." Smallbean put Flutterpaw and Daisypaw about a tail-length away from each other, both facing opposite directions. Once he was satisfied, he stepped back to join Whisperear and Blazefang.

"There's no time limit, but try to get back here fastest! Once again, on the count of three, the game will begin. "

"One... Two.... Three! Good luck!"
