WindClan Leader Games

When the Asylum had announced their idea of a way to ease tensions between the Clans and the Asylum, Olivestar had been wary, truth be told. She wasn't too keen on the idea of palling around with the cats that had taken over her home and her Clan, and despite agreeing to the whole spectacle (not that she really had any other choice), she still had her doubts about the games. Trying to hide the frown creasing her brow, she nuzzled her face against Zinnia's in a wordless gesture of love and good luck, and turned to climb to the vantage point that the Asylum had designated for the game.

It didn't take her long to reach the peak of her vantage point, and she gritted her teeth as she tried to bury the signs of her unease. She still considered the Asylum to be intruders, and she was still loathe to take their orders. With a deep breath, she forced herself to relax, and waited for her opponents in the gam to take their places.

There was a spring in Roe's step as he approached the arena, Lexine on his heels as he struggled to keep himself from wiggling in excitement. It had been ages since he had gotten to play any games and while he was helping oversee the entire event, this was the one he was getting lucky enough to partake in. He glanced over his shoulder to look at Lexine, before he turned to take a spot near where Olivestar had set up.

But before he could take nearly a single step, Lexine had suddenly picked up the pace to cut in front of him, eyes narrowed with a faint frown. "Yeah, no, you aren't guiding me, Roe," she said, raising her chin as she looked down on him.

Roe blinked, nearly falling on his haunches as he sputtered, trying to find the words needed. "W-What? B-But Theron sent me in her place! I-I know I am a rank below you still but doesn't Theron's faith in me count for anything?" he pleaded, ears slicking back as he fixed her with large, sad eyes. "I've been looking forward to this for sunrises now!"

Lexine tilted her head, looking very unimpressed. "...Tell me, Roe, how is the 'leader' suppose to guide their chosen cat, again?"

"W-What? Oh, um...Movement of the ears, tail..." he very quickly started to drift off.

"And what don't you have?"

"...A tail."

Lexine nodded, straightening up as she raised a paw and cuffed the younger tom over the ear as she leaned forward to meet his gaze. "I understand you are excited, Roe. I know you want to be leader. But unless you think you can tell me what direction to go in with your tail-nub, I will be doing the guiding. But I am sure we can find some sort of way for you to have your share of the fun later. Now get into that maze."

With that, Lexine turned and strolled up the hill - taking a spot not far from Olivestar but at least respectable enough to hopefully make the leader comfortable.

Roe sighed as he spared a glance over his shoulder, twitching his tail-nub as he stared at it with all the sad fury he could muster before he turned and trotted to his entrance of the maze. "Um...Hi," he called out to...Uh... Zinnia? He was pretty sure her name was Zinnia - it was pretty and seemed normal compared to all of the strange names of the other Clan cats. "Good luck! L-Let's have fun with this," he said, before he glanced up at Lexine, waiting for the signal to start.

Zinnia purred at her mate's show of affection, returning it happily before Olivestar went to take her place. Her opponent then saw fit to wish her luck, and - well, it would be rude not to return the gesture. Besides, her own innate dislike of the Asylum cats aside, she was admittedly somewhat curious about them - and quite happy to partake in games such as this, despite their origin, for they reminded her of a place she hadn't been since seasons now long past. "To you as well," she told him with a solemn nod. "May fortune favor the best team."

And, fate permitting, may that be us!

When the two Asylum cats that were to be Olivestar and Zinnia's opponent that day had shown up, the leader recognized them from the takeover, and she tried to keep the frown on her face from deepening. The one with the short tail wasn't as imposing as his companion, but she couldn't find it in herself to really see any of them as anything but intruders, especially those that had been part of Theron's immediate circle. She was at least thankful that Lexine had decided to keep some distance, and in a respectful manner, at that, though the leader knew that she couldn't totally ignore her opponent. She gritted her teeth a little, and gave a short nod at Lexine, murmuring just loud enough for the Asylum cat to hear,
"Good luck."

With that, she stood, catching Zinnia's eye, and waited for Lexine to follow suit and prepare to lead Roe. When both pairs were ready, the call rang out to begin, and Olivestar followed the path through the maze with her eyes, signaling the first turn with her tail, sweeping it to the side to direct her mate to the left.

Lexine's ears perked as she caught the under-the-breath murmur in her direction from the WindClan leader, fixing Olivestar with a faint look of surprise. She wasn't blind - or as optimistic as Roe - she knew just how much WindClan disliked them - and the fact that she and Roe were part of Theron's pack only muddied the waters further. But she wasn't here to make friends. Technically, she was here to win, not that she cared much for it. As the signal was given, she pushed herself to her paws and studied the maze.

Far, in the back of the mind, she quietly praised the Asylum cats who had put it together, trying to trace the path that would take them to victory. Finally, she found it and with a grand sweep of her tail, motioned for Roe to take a right as the two locked eyes. She wasn't sure if she actually had faith in the young tom - the two not having much practice working together since Theron had pulled together her pack. But perhaps this would allow her to see why Theron seemed to have so much faith in the two ranked nightstriker.

Roe bounced on his paws as he waited for the game to start, smiling as Zinnia wished him luck as well. While he wished he could have been up on the hill with Olivestar, he suppose he was going to have fun either way! Besides, he had never gotten to really work with Lexine before as she always was paired off with her brother - the fact that they were out together was just because Theron didn't want to step paw on the moor if not needed and Alois wasn't great at...Uh, being polite. Not that he minded! Roe was eager to get to know Lexine more and he found she was actually pretty fun to hang out with!

Not that it was the time to think about that as he heard the call for the game to start and looked up at Lexine. He held his breath as he waited for her to figure out his path, before she straightened up and swept her tail to the...Left. He started to turn in that direction before he blinked, wincing at he suddenly realized he was nearly an idiot - it was left for him but that was her right. Which meant he had nearly set off in the wrong direction. He quickly corrected, heading deeper in as he waited for the next signal.

Roe understood Lexine's direction.

Zinnia watched carefully as Olivestar gave her silent instructions, the swish of her tail leading her to the - that was left, wasn't it? Or was it right? That sounded right - well, it didn't sound like anything, but... Oh, this was already far too confusing to follow, and they'd barely started. At last, she chose which way to go and moved to the right. She was almost sure that was right.

Probably.

Zinnia misunderstood Olivestar's direction, having distracted herself by thinking about how beautiful her mate is.

A small chuckle left Olivestar's mouth as Zinnia studied her movement, then moved the opposite way. A small smile crossed her face as she found the next best path through the maze, and continued from there. She swept her tail to the right this time, looking at the next pathway towards the exit.

This time, Zinnia was sure she'd understood it - Olivestar's tail had moved the opposite way from last time, so she would go left; the opposite of the way she'd moved before. That had to be right. Or, um... Left? That had to be - or, was it...? Either way, she moved toward the left before cheerfully turning her attention back to Olivestar. She'd followed the instructions right so far, she was sure of it!

Zinnia misunderstood Olivestar's directions, still operating on her previous flawed logic. At least she's having a good time.

Lexine smiled softly to herself as Roe seemed to heed her directions with no issue, eyes remaining fixed on the path she had decided upon. She didn't care to see how the WindClan cats were doing - she would find out sooner or later. She straightened up a little as she very quickly studied the path before Roe, sweeping her tail to the left and flickered her right ear twice - hoping that he would gather that he had to take the second turn in that direction.

Left! Roe was relieved that he was getting the directions as he turned - taking his eyes off of Lexine for just the briefest moment...Before movement drew them back. She had flickered her ear...Why? He paused for a moment, studying the path before as he saw there was a couple turns he could make. Oh! Well, that was easy enough then - and he turned into the first one...Having missed that she had flickered her ear twice.

Roe misread Lexine's number of ear flicks, costing time. 1/3 succeeded rolls.

The leader couldn't help but smile at her mate, even if they were losing, because to Olivestar, winning didn't matter too much to her for this. All that mattered to her was that her Clan was safe, the Asylum wasn't an immediate danger, and that everyone was seemingly chill at the moment. With a small shake of her head, and a smile on her face, she flicked her tail to the right once more, calculating the next best path through the maze.
