Black paws found their way to the top of the Jaggedrock, settling into place as a single golden eye swept across the camp. This sight was normal for him now, but at another time in his life he never knew just how perfect the view was. With any hope, he could continue to serve his clan and preserve such a sight. A sigh shook the tom from his moment, and in the next he was calling out above the clan's chatter.
"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"

The fluffy, smoke-furred tom made his way to the Jaggedrock, curious what announcement would be made today. Or...perhaps a ceremony. A ceremony would be interesting, if a bit annoying. Though he hadn't seen many ceremonies, it felt like he'd been waiting for his apprentice ceremony for moons longer than he should've. Cardinalpaw and Briarpaw had already had theirs - it wasn't any fair! And if Webkit was made an apprentice before him, well...well, he didn't know what he'd do with himself then.
Smokeykit found a spot at the very front of the group, ears perked toward Sablestrike. As he sat, he curled his tail neatly around his paws and made sure his posture was perfect. After all - if it was finally his time to become an apprentice, he wanted to look perfect! He'd only be an embarrassment to his family if he showed up unruly and unkempt.

"Smokeykit, please step forward." The call came as soon as the kit settled into his spot.
"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to begin your life as an apprentice. From this day on until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Smokeypaw. Your mentor will be Sunflare. He is a valued warrior of Shadowclan, and a cat I would entrust our future to. May he guide you well." Sunflare had always seemed to great work with any apprentices that Sablestrike had thrown at him, Smokeykit would be no exception.

Smokeykit stepped forward, trying his best to channel all of his excitement into the hurried flicking of his tail. Even if he wanted to look professional in front of his Clan, he was still young and excitable, and he'd been waiting for this day for forever! As Sablestrike deemed him 'Smokeypaw', the great tom peering down at him fro the Jaggedrock, Smokeypaw beamed. He didn't know any of the warriors - not really, aside from that kind she-cat who'd given him some hunting tips when he was younger - so it wasn't much surprise that he didn't recognize his new mentor's name. Sunflare? Well, if the deputy trusted him - and his mother trusted her deputy - then he must be worthy of being Smokeypaw's mentor. The tuxedo tom scanned the crowd, practically bursting with joy as the tom stepped forward. So he wouldn't be his first apprentice, either. Good.
"It's an honor, sir." The newly-named apprentice dipped his head respectfully before standing at full height to touch his mentor's nose. He didn't have to stretch to meet Sunflare like he'd seen most of the apprentices do, and he was surprised at how much he'd grown. Even at his age, he was almost as tall as the fully grown warrior. Smokeypaw blinked. "I'll do my best, I promise. Can we start training right away?" The wagging of his tail betrayed his excitement even if thought he seemed composed.
Sunflare strode forward with purpose, touching his nose to that of his third apprentice. He had to go on living and working for his clan. “Congratulations, Smokeypaw,” he mewed. “I appreciate your eagerness to learn, however I have a daughter in the nursery I must see to. After I have checked on her, I will gladly escort you around the territory. I won’t be long.”
Briarpaw had been excited to see another sibling finally named an apprentice, and once the ceremony was over the young she-cat approached her brother with a loud purr. "Congratulations, Smokeypaw! 'Bout time!"
"We'll have to go on patrol together at some point." She mewed, lightly flicking Smokeypaw with her tail, "And we'll get your nest set up too!"
