| Badgermask had spent more time resting towards the nursery, her gaze fixed firmly on the entrance. She...It had been hard when she had realized her mom was pregnant - unsure of how to feel about it. Family meant the world to her, she ought to be excited but there was a bitterness at the same time. Moondancer and Batswarm would never get to see them - Echomist wouldn't get to play with his kits and it only served to remind her of what she had lost. So...She had stayed away, but the kits were quickly getting older and she found herself reconsidering things. She... Did want to get to know them, but she wasn't sure how they would feel about her. They were siblings, but she was far older than them and hadn't been a part of their lives...
She also didn't know if she would be any good to them - she was angry, prickly most of the time. She knew how to be in a better mood around Heatherberry but...These kits? Family or not, she wasn't sure if it would matter... It wasn't long before a small silver head peeked out from the mouth of the nursery, jade eyes wide and unblinking. The kit's gaze was trained on the fresh-kill pile, staring blankly at a lizard sitting just outside of where it should be. Cautiously, the little furball emerged and started inching towards the object of her focus.
She slowed down as she neared it, those eyes still entirely focused on the lizard. She reached out a paw hesitantly, prodding at its scaly body and watching how the light moved over the unfamiliar texture.
It seemed less like she wanted to eat it and more like she wanted to observe it?
