What Webs We Weave (Open)

Her heart had never beat so fast for so long in her life. She was unable to sleep due to the thrumming of blood in her ears; it sounded like a stampede was raging just beyond her sight. What if they found out what she'd done? Would they throw her and her kits out of WindClan? Where would she go? Wildfang, he had no clue that they existed. What if he didn't want to have anything to do with them? What if he hated her? The queen couldn't decide which possibility terrified her most.

Spiderfur was more thankful than what could be imagined that Dovekit looked like her. She looked like a normal WindClan kitten, not at all like her ShadowClan father. That was one thing that brought her some sense of relief. Heavykit, however, was a different story. His dark tabby stripes were alarmingly reminiscent of his father's. It would so awfully obvious as to his parentage if they happened to stand near each other. She was exhausted due to the boughts of severe anxiety that nearly made her fur stand on end. Her head laid on her paws as if to rest, but her large brown eyes were still half open, tail twitching every minute or so. The dust brown she-cat prayed to StarClan that she wouldn't be found out. Although she could only wonder if they would heed the prayers of a cat who'd broken the code.

The sound of movement made her head jerk up in alarm and her ears prick. She knew it was only more suspicious for her to act so much more on-edge, but she just couldn't bring herself to relax.

Dovekit let out a shrill mew, moving closer to her mother's warmth. The kit lay sprawled on the soft ground, her fur fluffed and a light mud color adorning her pelt. Splotches of white surrounded her head and little legs, but with her eyes sealed shut, none of this mattered. Only that when she kicked to draw closer to Spiderfur's belly, she found another hot, squealing shape beside her.

Heavykit remained silent for sometime that it might have worried the queen yet he let out a faint cry. He squirmed toward his mother and sister for a sliver of warmth. The tom was fluffy from moving around restlessly even with his eyes closed, he squealed once more pawing at ground.

'It was nothing. Calm down!' The queen's ears relaxed, if only a little, and she laid her head on her paws again. Her kits were squirming around and for a moment her heart slowed and she was calm. They would be alright. If no one knew by now, perhaps no one would find out. Surely their father would never rat them out. He was too kind for that, or perhaps not stupid enough. But of course StarClan knew. StarClan could see all that happened in the territories. Would they tell Ashstar and Beetlewing? Or Leopardstar and Honeydrop? Would they do that?

The well of uncertainty in her heart was fulling up again. Spiderfur curled around her kits completely, her back to the nursery entrance. All she could possibly do was to wait and see.

Dustkit cried out softly before falling silent, and shimmying closer to his mother and siblings. His fur was almost as light as Spiderfur's, but had dark tabby markings marring the soft color. He stilled once the source of warmth had been reached, and purred almost inaudibly.

Hollowkit yawned, his long limbs stretching leasurly against his siblings. His elongated tail flapped down ontop of Dustkit, a tiny yawn-squeal from his lips.

Dustkit flinched, pushing blindly at his brother's tail with a cross attitude. He huffed softly, snuggling further into their mother's fur, before letting a final deep breath go and falling asleep, squeezing his eyes closed further than the glued lids were already blocking his orbs.
