There's more than one way to skin a badger [C]

Ajex hummed in response to Brackenpaw's warnings. Perhaps wolves were a challenge, but it wasn't as if he would have a choice to run when they came, would they? One day, he might encounter wolves, and if the stories were true he'd never outrun them. That just meant that he had to train now, for the day that the danger may approach him. That was how he survived all those moons; never wait until the fangs have closed around your throat to prepare yourself. You have to start now. How Brackenpaw survived, he wasn't quite sure, but he wasn't going to press it, not when the empitness that filled what would normally be a patrol of several more cats but was now reduced to two screamed for the ones that used to fill them.

"Now? We eat it! And you can have it's pelt, if you want," Ajex purred in response to the apprentice's last question, glad of the change of subject. His claws dug into the corners of the badger's lip, peeling the skin back with a rip. He continued, skillful claws workings its way down the side of the beast's fact, sloping down it's neck and curling into the inside of the front paws. Slowly, the pelt came off, and when it did Ajex draped it over the snow-capped ground with a florish. He adjusted the striped pelt, then peered over at Brackenpaw. "It's a little stiff and smelly at the moment, but nothing some time out in the open won't fix!" He explained, grinning to show off his sharp teeth before smacking the now bloody mess of flesh that was the badger they had attacked mere moments ago. "Now, dig in and enjoy~" He purred, nosing the corpse closer to the apprentice. He must be starving, and who doesn't love a good badger?
