| Finchkit, with her speckled coat groomed nicely for once, was pratically buzzing with excitement as she waited for the day to pass. At last, the familiar words echoed through the camp, and the she-kit shot out of the nursery to join the crowd. Today, she knew, would be her apprentice ceremony. She would be the first of her littermates to become an apprentice. Would she be the first to earn her warrior name as well? She looked around the crowd. Was Nectarflower watching? | "Today another kit has reached the age of six moons, ready to join the rank of apprentice. Finchkit please come forward." The deputy waited for said apprentice to come forward before continuing forward with the ceremony. "Finchkit you have reached the age of six moons. From this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Finchpaw. Your mentor will be Sootstorm, I hope he passes everything he knows on to you." Sootstorm raised his head in surprise as his name was called. He had been watching Nectarflower's kits closely, hoping to mentor one of them when they became apprentices. He just hadn't expected to be chosen so soon after he was given Dustpaw. Finchkit was the outgoing one, he remembered, and the spitting image of her father.
With a warm smile on his face, Sootstorm stepped forward to meet the newly-named apprentice. "Hello, Finchkit! I'm sure you remember me," He purred. Sootstorm had always hung around Nectarflower and her kits, helping whenever he could and often playing with the kits. From what he recalled, Finchkit was also a rather energetic kit. "Get some rest first. We'll be exploring the territory at Sunhigh," He instructed. He was sure that Nectarflower would be dying to congradulate her kit.

| Finchpaw could barely hide her excitement as her new name was finally announced. Finchpaw! And soon she would have her warrior name as well! Maybe she could even be Finchstar one day? The thought of standing in front of the whole Clan and watching them hang onto her every word gave her a thrill of excitement. No, no, she shouldn't think like that. Nectarflower had taught her to be "modest" and something else she couldn't remember, but the apprentice hardly cared what her mother said. Nectarflower doesn't know what she's talking about. She's still griefing for Weaselfoot.
Finchpaw's ears pricked up at the familiar name that came next. Sootstorm! Nectarflower's mentor had visited the nursery whenever he had time, and often played with her and her littermates. He always said that she would be a good fighter, and now she could prove it to him! She nodded eagerly to whatever was coming out of the tom's mouth, but she was hardly paying attention. She couldn't wait for her first battle! And after she learns how to hunt, the fresh-kill pile would always be full. ______________________________________ - Requirements:

Nectarflower settled down near the center of the crowd as Tigerdance's voiced echoed through the camp. She had been eagerly waiting for this day to come and though time seemed to have moved far too fast for her liking, she was excited for Finchkit to enter this next stage of her life. That being said, she was a little saddened to realize that the rest of her kits would soon be following Finchkit to the apprentice's den. Then, she would move out of the nursery and fully return to her duties as a warrior.
Would they have time to get together as a family once they all had their own responsibilities and things to do? She certainly hoped so. She would, at the very least, always be happy to make time for her kits. Tail curled neatly around her paws, Nectarflower watched as Finchkit padded forward, her excitement palpable. Her own green eyes glowed with pride as Tigerdance named her as a full apprentice of Windclan. Purring, Nectarflower waited for the deputy to finish before rushing toward the young she-cat, her tail lashing behind her.
"Oh, Finchpaw! I'm so happy for you!" She met Sootstorm's gaze and dipped her head. He would make a fine mentor to Finchpaw - just as he had when she was an apprentice. Throat rumbling with the power of her purring, Nectarflower swiped her tongue over Finchpaw's head, chest burning with a mixture of joy and sadness.
It was good that Finchpaw was an apprentice now. She would miss the peaceful days in the nursery, of course, but this was good for Windclan. More warriors was never a bad thing. Pulling back, the tortoiseshell she-cat turned her attention to Sootstorm, grinning. "You must be feeling pretty old now, huh? Mentoring your former apprentice's kit and all." She meowed playfully.

"Oh shut it," Sootstorm snapped playfully to Nectarflower's teasing. Was he old? He had kits of his own, and Finchpaw was his third apprentice, as well as his first apprentice's kits. No, there were many cats in Windclan that way older than he was. Nectarflower's affection towards her daughter wasn't strange, but Sootstorm couldn't help but think of Ferntwist. She would have done the same, if she had been there for her kits' apprentice ceremonies. With a bitter taste in his mouth, the warrior dipped his head to his new apprentice and his former apprentice. "I'll leave you two then," He purred a little forcibly.
