After the incident, as Drizzlepaw had mentally termed it, the young apprentice had been wary of so much as stepping out of the apprentices’ den alone. She stuck close to the other members of her patrol, constantly glancing over her shoulder to ensure that she hadn’t wandered off somehow. They weren’t anywhere near the borders; much less the WindClan border, but she felt a dragging paranoia hover over her shoulder, linger in her every pawstep. This wasn’t at all how she’d imagined her apprenticeship would go.

Come on, Drizzlepaw, the ginger-and-cream molly thought to herself with an annoyed toss of her head, pull yourself together.

With one more glance to ensure that her patrol members weren’t going anywhere, Drizzlepaw crouched by the riverside, scanning the glinting waters for any sign of shimmering scales. With a sudden, fluid motion, she scooped a small dace out of the water, catching it behind the gills with her hooked claws and finishing it off with a sharp bite. Good job, Drizzlepaw. That was perfect form.

Tinypaw trailed behind the patrol, enjoying the warmth of the sun on his back. It was a beautiful day to hunt, the sky was clear and the sun reflected off the river, creating a brilliant array of light on the water's surface. He hadn't failed to note Drizzlepaw's paranoia, but he didn't exactly blame her for being a bit jumpy given what had happened to her. Though fortunately it seemed that her tense mood didn't inhibit her hunting abilities in the slightest, he observed as she made her catch.

"Nice catch Drizzlepaw!" He said supportively. He found a spot of his own near the river's edge and crouched down, gazing into the water. As soon as he saw a flicker of movement he lunged forward, plucking a small minnow out of the water. His eyes glowed with triumph as he quickly finished it off.

Harebounce's tail flitted over her apprentice's back and she let out a quiet purr of praise. "Good work, Drizzlepaw! You're a natural at this." The older molly hoped to instill confidence back into the young cat, especially after what she'd experienced at the paws of a WindClan cat so recently. It was times like this where she could hardly believe she was WindClan by blood. It didn't matter now if the cat that had attacked Drizzlepaw could possibly be her blood family, if she knew who they were she'd give them a taste of their own herbs. At least she knew Head Perchstar wasn't going to let it slide.

Speaking of their leader, she couldn't neglect to praise Tinypaw as well. "You too Tinypaw! I'll have to tell Stormdance how well you're doing." She'd likely tell his mother too, but that might be putting too much pressure on him as the leader's son.

While she would love nothing more than to coddle them until the sun set, she needed to catch something too! Careful not to let her pelt's ears touch the water, Harebounce peered in and waited for something to swim just close enough... aha! Her claws shot out and nabbed a young bass by the dorsal fin, leaving it to flop on the bank for but a moment before she bent to end its struggle.

As ordered by Riverclan deputy, Oaksoul was ordered to join the patrol. He didn't know very well any of the cats here thus he remained quiet, with no expression on their face as they reached their destination.

The large tom hoped Egretswoop would join them since she was one of the few cats who he would call "close", however, it seemed that the she-cat was nowhere to be seen. But, there was someone that was just like her: an older molly who was wearing some hare pelt over her body. Oaksoul was certain that they were related in some way. Maybe family or friends. However, due to being younger and not much of a talker, he didn't quite know the extent of their relationship. Maybe he would ask Egretswoop later. Now, it was time to fish.

The big tom made his way to the river, away from the other cats because he knew his fishing technique wasn't the quietest. But it was effective. He laid down so his big shadow would be similar to a rock and not startle the fish. Patiently, he waited and when a pike was close enough, he slammed his big paws against the water, hoping to knock the fish out. As usual, the animal was paralyzed by the shock of the hit and Oaksoul quickly grabbed it out of the water, finishing the kill.

Oaksoul attempted to catch a fish (-3 SP). The catch was successful!
