Fishing in the Shallows (O hunting)

Darkpaw had been itching to get out of the RiverClan camp, especially now that the weather was starting to grow warmer. He was hoping that his hunting luck would keep improving as Leafbare melted behind him. This time I'll catch something, Darkpaw thought, determination making his bengal tail quiver. He'd been nervous hunting in front of Toadpaw, for...some reason.

Darkpaw pushed the thoughts out of his head, moving further into RiverClan territory and away from the busyness of the camp. If I'm going to be a RiverClan warrior, I've got to get better at hunting. It wasn't that Darkpaw was bad at it, he just wasn't...the luckiest, atleast so far. But Toadpaw is always lucky...

Darkpaw froze as he heard the familiar splashing of a fish in the shallows of a nearby stream. Heart pounding, the tom fell into a hunting crouch, easing his way towards the water. Sure enough, he spotted the silver shine of a fish, it's scales especially bright beneath the setting sun. It's now or never...

Darkpaw flashed out a paw towards the fish. Instead, the biggest goose Darkpaw had ever seen squacked in anger, bursting out of the shallows straight towards him.

"Mousedung!" Darkpaw cursed, turning tail and fleeing away from the bank. The goose was gaining speed, and there was no way the apprentice could take it on by himself. "Someone! Help!!"
